Tim Kennedy, C.B. Dollaway Is Calling On Line One

Wednesday, June 4th, 2014

After heading to Brazil and Germany for each of his past two fights, C.B. Dollaway wants to remain a little closer to home.

Dollaway, who defeated Francis Carmont recently via decision, finally overcame his exhaustion to call-out a fighter for his next bout. The former Arizona State University standout was asked by Dan Hardy following his win over Carmont in Germany.

"So after a few days of thinking I am going to ask Dana White for a main event matchup in Phoenix against Tim Kennedy December 13th," Dollaway wrote on Twitter.

Dollaway (15-5) is 4-1 in his last five, with the lone loss being a split decision defeat to Tim Boetsch in October.

Kennedy (18-4) has won four straight, including an April decision vs. Michael Bisping. He also has downed Rafael Natal and Roger Gracie since signing with the UFC.

The card Dollaway was referring to is UFC on FOX 13, which is set for December from Phoenix and the U.S. Airways Arena.

C.B. Dollaway Continues International Dominance In Germany

Sunday, June 1st, 2014

Former Arizona State University wrestler and ex-Ultimate Fighter competitor C.B. Dollaway took the flight to Germany and controlled Francis Carmont, earning a decision victory Saturday at UFC Fight Night 41.

With the victory, Dollaway (15-5) is now 4-1 in his last five fights. His wins have come in Germany, Brazil twice and the U.S. for the other two.

While he didn't get to follow up on his knockout of Cezar Ferreira, Dollaway was pleased with his improvement on his feet.

"My hands allow me to get people off trying to defend my takedowns," he said. "That opens them up."

Dollaway has now defeated Carmont and Ferreira since a split decision loss to Tim Boetsch. Prior to that, he had defeated Daniel Sarafian and Jason "Mayhem" Miller.

With the win over Carmont, who was ranked ninth in the latest UFC middleweight poll, Dollaway feels he has finally arrived.

"I should be in the Top-10 now," he said. "Next week, I'll pick someone out (for my next fight). I'm too tired now."

For Carmont (22-9), the loss was a second straight after winning 11 in a row from 2008-13. He lost via decision to Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza earlier this year.

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

The UFC’s recent outing on the Versus network was an entertaining show that featured several exciting finishes and several close encounters. Now once again it’s time to ask: what’s next? What does the future hold after “Sanchez vs. Kampmann”? Here’s my answer to just that: a new edition of my “What’s Next for the Winners and Losers” series of articles, now featuring “UFC on Versus 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann”.

Best Of The Rest: "UFC on Versus 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann"

Friday, March 4th, 2011

Hello once more fans and friends and welcome to another new series! I really enjoy taking the time to give my detailed thoughts on a show after watching it, and although I’ve only shown it a few times on, I’ve been told that I’ve got a pretty good sense of humor. So, after the serious discussion and debate I’ll raise in topics like “Top 5 Best Moments” and “Best Performance of the Night”, I figured it’d be nice to have a tongue-in-cheek topic where I give out some other “awards”. It’s all in good fun, so don’t take any of it too seriously. So let’s dive right into this new series that I’ll be calling “Best of the Rest”.

Best Performance Of The Night: Mark Munoz At "UFC On Versus 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann"

Friday, March 4th, 2011

It’s that time once again, fans and friends. Another major MMA event has come and gone, and it’s time for my unofficial “Best Performance of the Night” award. Considering how many good fights fans got to see on free TV at “UFC on Versus 3” (try and say that three times fast), it was pretty difficult to definitively pick the one fighter who performed better than everyone else. But in the end, I went with the man who popped onto the radar in a big way last night, by knocking out his opponent in under a minute. Here’s why Mark Munoz and his crushing TKO win over CB Dollaway took home “Best Performance of the Night”.

Top 5 Best Moments Of "UFC On Versus 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann"

Friday, March 4th, 2011

In many ways, “UFC on Versus 3” had some weighty shoes to fill. This was the first post-WEC Versus show, and the quality would have to be rather high to make up for the diminished schedule of live MMA on Versus. While it may not have been without its controversies, most of the fights lived up to their potential and as a whole, it was a good event. But which stars shined brightest, and what moments will fans be talking about in the following weeks? Here’s my take on the matter: my top 5 best moments of “UFC on Versus 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann”.

Lawlor over Cote: Good wrestling beats good standup every time, it seems. What is Joe Silva to do?

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

Once again, I sympathize with UFC matchmaker Joe Silva.   On paper, Tom Lawlor vs. Patrick Cote at UFC 121 had all the ingredients for fireworks.  Yet, as we see more and more, when you combine a pure puncher with a native wrestler ”¦ who is committed to only wrestling, the potential for a sleeper is always close at hand.

In baseball it goes ... "good pitching beats good hitting."

In MMA should it go ... "good wrestling beats good standup?"
