Canadian Ryan Jimmo (16-1) received a belated 30th birthday present today after word broke that he is expected to make his UFC debut in January against the explosive Karlos Vemola (8-2) at UFC on FX 1.

Jimmo, the MFC light heavyweight champ and a winner of sixteen straight, enters the Octagon for the first time with perhaps one of more storied paths in MMA. His resume already boasts victories over the likes of Jesse Forbes, Wilson Gouveia, and Rick "The Jet" Roufus. However, his most recent victory over Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou at MFC 31 is what may have put him over the top and punched his ticket to the UFC.

Jimmo Expects UFC Contract with Win over Sokoudjou

While he relied on his heavy hands early in his career, Jimmo has turned himself into one of MMA's most complete fighters, finding creative ways to shut down his opponents and draw praise from many of his peers.

Vemola will look to rebound after a lopsided decision loss against Ronny Markes back in August, and in Jimmo, he should find an opponent content to stand and strike with him.

UFC on FX 1 takes place on January 20th 2012, from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee and will feature lightweights Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard mixing it up in the main event.
