UFC featherweight Dustin Poirier suffered his first loss in the Octagon earlier this year, falling to Chan Sung Jung in a surprisingly one-sided affair. The 23-year old will look to erase any lingering aftertaste from the defeat this December 15 when he faces Jonathan Brookins at the Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale.

The match-up has been confirmed by UFC officials.

Poirier, who had a five-fight winning streak snapped with the loss to Jung, holds an overall record of 12-2 including past success against the likes of Pablo Garza, Zach Micklewright, and Josh Grispi.

Comparably, Brookins is a former Ultimate Fighter winner with victories over Yves Jabouin and Michael Johnson. The 13-5 Brookins has finished eleven of the opponents he's beaten.

The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale is headlined by a heavyweight tilt between Roy Nelson-Shane Carwin.
