UFC heavyweight Pat Barry may be the most laid-back fighters found in Mixed Martial Arts. However, Barry’s career has been anything but “easy going” as of late with two losses in his last three fights where both appeared to be bouts he had won early on.

“HD” addressed the issue earlier today during a UFC Live 6 conference call with media where he spoke some about his fight this weekend against Stefan Struve but more about his approach to fighting and why it’s difficult for him to get too upset while living out a childhood dream.

“All I wanted to ever do was be a ninja. Every Halloween I was a ninja while growing up. I wanted to beat Tong Po from Kickboxer. And now I can make a living as an adult doing something I’ve always wanted to do,” the “Short Sagat” stated while equating his job in the UFC as being similar to a ninja minus the weaponry.

“I’ve accepted that sometimes you’re gonna lose,” he continued. “If I lose a fight, yeah it sucks, but as long as I know that I fought my heart out and did my best, broken limbs or what not, (it’s okay). I know (losing) is gonna happen.”

“Anybody can win. Anybody can lose. Any day, any fight. You can’t count anyone out even when they’ve been knocked unconscious twice in the first round,” the New Orleans native joked in reference to his June loss to Cheick Kongo.

The 32-year old kickboxer went on to explain a person can even find victory in defeat as long as they grow from the experience, saying, “Once you turn a test in, it’s done. You can either learn from it and get better or sit in a chair and rot. We win or we learn.”

The 6-3 Barry, who has won five of his fights via TKO, will take a final exam this Saturday night live on Versus against Struve, a 21-5 grappler who is a foot taller but lost four of his bouts by way of a strike-based stoppage. The card is headlined by bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz defending his title against human "Energizer Bunny", Demetrious Johnson.
