UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones has always been labeled as a particularly unique competitor, though typically in relation to his physical frame and uncanny ascension to the top of the sport despite only having trained for a handful of years. However, lately Jones has also earned a reputation for being different for reasons unrelated to in-ring performance.

The 25-year old’s personality has been the target of criticism over the past year based on a number of incidents including a recent situation involving his refusal to face Chael Sonnen on short notice. Now it seems “Bones” is taking it a step further by letting fans know he doesn’t particularly care what they think about him.

Jones Gives Half-Hearted Apology for Handling of UFC 151

“I'm not here to be loved. I'm here to be dominant,” wrote Jones on Twitter.

The 16-1 Jones was once considered the brightest star on the UFC’s roster and still may be from a talent perspective. Unfortunately, it seems he is no longer willing to shine as brightly as possible if it means playing nice or kowtowing to the company.

Jones will get his chance to “be dominant” later this month when he faces Vitor Belfort at UFC 152.
