A bout with major contendership implications has been announced for the UFC’s return to network television, as it appears Josh Koscheck will meet Johny Hendricks on the televised portion of UFC on FOX 3. Both men are coming off winning performances in their previous bouts and can make a case for a shot at Carlos Condit’s interim welterweight title with a victory at the May 5 event.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the fight earlier today.

Koscheck will have extra incentive to succeed when he faces Hendricks after watching the 12-1 grappler knock out Jon Fitch in twelve seconds at UFC 141. Fitch is a former training partner and current good friend of the polarizing pugilist. Koscheck was last seen narrowly outpointing Mike Pierce at UFC 143, his fifth instance of success in six scraps with the lone exception being a decision loss to Georges St. Pierre.

"Kos" Interested in Fighting at Middleweight

Hendricks is currently on a three fight winning streak with two opening round TKOs in the bunch, the other coming against T.J. Waldburger this past March.

Other match-ups making the network cut at UFC on FOX 3 include Pat Barry vs. Lavar Johnson and Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz.
