UFC 129's "Submission of the Night": Pablo Garza
UFC 129's "Submission of the Night": Pablo Garza

UFC 129, as a whole, was a great event to witness all in all. Well, that is if you caught the Pablo Garza and Yves Jabouin bout. One of the larger featherweight fighters in the division, Garza would seem to be the obvious favorite in his bout with Yves, though size doesn't necessarily matter---or does it? Regardless of the trivial questions, in the short amount of time that these two athletes had to work with, they both put on an impressive performance, though Garza inevitably got the upper hand of his the "Tristar" affiliated fighter, who trains alongside notables Rory MacDonald, Kenny Florian, and welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. In the end, Pablo managed to pull out a gem of a submission from his bag of tricks which inevitably pocketed him some extra cash once the bout was said and done with. ...

UFC 129: Jason MacDonald and Pablo Garza earn first-round triangle choke finishes

Both Jason MacDonald and Pabloe Garza had something to prove come UFC 129. Garza, an import from the WEC wanted to prove that his first-round knockout win over Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Fredson Paixao at "The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale" this past December was no fluke, and that he had the skills to hang with those in the UFC. MacDonald, meanwhile, was hoping to make good on his second foray inside the octagon. He came back to the organization last May on the heels of a three-fight win streak, taking on John Salter at UFC 113. Jason suffered a nasty leg injury which kept him out of the better part of the year until his return earlier tonight. Both Jason and Pablo showed that they have the skills to remain factors in the UFC with their first-round submission victories over their well-respected opponents. ...

Starting today, right now, I’m beginning a twelve-part series focusing on every single fight from an event that may one day be remembered as one of the most important events in MMA history. It’s ufc 129: the UFC’s debut in Ontario, in front of 55,000 fans, with some of the UFC’s best and brightest all scheduled to compete. I’ll be looking at all twelve of the UFC 129 bouts: detailing them, giving my thoughts, and much more. Since I’m collecting and dissecting the complete UFC 129 fight card, I think “UFC 129 Complete Collection” is a pretty fitting title. So without further ado, let’s dive right in. ...
