Season 12 coaches of "The Ultimate Fighter" Georges St. Pierre and Josh Koscheck have been expected to tangle with one another at UFC 124, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in a welterweight clash. Champion GSP will look to make his fifth successful title defense against foe Koscheck. The two had met previously at UFC 74, where the American Kickboxing Academy product was riding a 5-fight win streak inside the cage coming into the bout, meanwhile, "Rush" was coming off of a disappointing and shocking knockout loss to the unheralded Matt Serra at UFC 69. While competitive in spots, St. Pierre was able to dominate the wrestling department against the former NCAA champion, en route to a unanimous decision victory. ...
As the year is coming closer to an end, the now annual World MMA Awards, which is hosted by Fighters Only Magazine, has recently announced their finalists for the December 1st event, which will take place once again in Las Vegas, Nev., which has become a hot bed for all things fighting related. The 2009 event opened up to a large audience, and has become a propellant in the mixed martial arts world, opening up the eyes to a mainstream audience, by the community taking leaps and bounds in order to legitimize itself as not only a legitimate sport, but one that deserves that same sort of recognition that most others receive, here in these United States. ...
In the war on piracy, Zuffa is playing for keeps. In the past several years the ufc has taken it upon itself to crack down on any and every venue looking to broadcast UFC Pay-Per-Views for free or at a reduced rate. I reported on this a while back, but there’s recently been an interesting update. It was recently reported on Sherdog.com that the UFC had successfully petitioned for and received an actual restraining order against an online stream site. ...
The fight everyone wants to see, will be on the back burner until 2011, apparently. UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua has undergone successful knee surgery this past June, and is still in recovery mode. According to UFC President Dana White in a recent interview with Sportscenter revealed that he intends on making Rua's return in the Spring or early Summer of next year. ...
The verdict is in for heavy-handed striker and former UFC Welterweight Paul Daley, as Quebec’s Governing Body of Alcohol, Races and Games has given “Semtex” a thirty-day suspension from MMA competition as a result of Daley’s post-fight cheap-shot attempt after losing to Josh Koscheck at UFC 113. Not only did the post-fight fisticuffs get Daley immediately fired from the UFC, but Dana White personally swore that Daley would never be allowed to compete in the UFC again, no matter how good he does outside of the world’s largest MMA promotion. Some say Daley has suffered enough, losing his spot near the top of the Welterweight division and being knocked back down to the minors after such a promising start in the UFC, but I honestly disagree. A thirty day suspension is little more than a slap on the wrist, and Daley deserves a lot more for reinforcing the exact stereotype that the UFC has been trying for years to break down: that their fighters are a bunch of classless animals. ...

The fight night has come to an end and at UFC 113 Josh Koscheck (15-4) wrestled his way to a decision win over "SemTex" Paul Daley (20-10-2). That was only loss number one for Daley this night though as both him and Kimbo got some bad news post-fight. ...

There were no fights in the mixed martial arts welterweight top ten in January and, therefore, no movement in the rankings for February. Fighters.com and UFC Welterweight Champion "Rush" Georges St. Pierre (19-2) and fifth-ranked “Outlaw” Dan Hardy (23-6) are set to battle for the top spot at UFC 111 in Newark March 27. Predictions range far and wide, from Hardy has one foot in the grave to Hardy is the man to upset St. Pierre like "The Terror” Matt Serra (9-6) di at UFC 69 in Houston in 2007. ...
