Stephan Bonnar vs. Karlos Vemola tapped for "UFC on Versus 5"

A light heavyweight bout has been recently added to the budding "UFC on Versus 5" card, which takes place on August 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The main-event of the evening will pit welterweight standouts Chris Lytle against former title challenger Dan Hardy, though Stephan Bonnar and Karlos Vemola will not get lost in the shuffle. For Bonnar, a win over Vemola will mean that he could still hang with some of the up and coming talent in the division, and for Karlos, a victory over a well respected veteran will vaunt him into the upper echelon of the division. ...

Twelve seasons of the popular UFC reality TV show “The Ultimate Fighter” have now aired, twelve “Ultimate Finale” live events have come and gone. Last night was the latest “Ultimate Finale” event, and it certainly caused its fair share of controversy. In the main event, Jonathan Brookins defeated Michael Johnson to become the TUF 12 champion. But what does his future hold, and for that matter, the futures of all the men who competed at “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale”? Here are my thoughts. ...

The live finale event to the twelfth season of the popular UFC reality TV show “The Ultimate Fighter” is now a thing of the past. A new champion has been crowned, and several stars looked great in their main-card attractions. Stephan Bonner surprised most of the viewing public by using his grappling and wrestling to outmaneuver and ultimately outpoint Igor Pokrajac, while Jonathan Brookins survived some big punches courtesy of Michael Johnson throughout their three-round war of attrition to ultimately emerge as the TUF 12 champion. Here are the full results to “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale”. ...

"Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale": All fighters make weight...all but Nick Pace

All but one fighter, WEC veteran Nick Pace, were successful in making weight on their first attempts. Bonnar versus Pokrajac for TUF 12 Finale in December
Bonnar versus Pokrajac for TUF 12 Finale in December

Season one finalist of the famed "The Ultimate Fighter" series, Stephan Bonnar will return to the finale show that has brought him infamy amongst his peers in the world of mixed martial arts. The long time UFC competitor splits his record inside the octagon at a pedestrian 6-6--though his losses have come to tough competition such as Forrest Griffin, Jon Jones, and Rashad Evans to name a few. ...

Brandon Vera Still Doubts Jon Jones, but You Can Call Me a Believer

Despite being in the middle of a two-fight losing streak, I personally think the future’s still quite bright for Brandon Vera. I don’t think he’ll ever reach the potential that he could have achieved when he first came into the UFC and people were predicting that he would be the next UFC Heavyweight Champion, but I think he will always have the skills to consistently be “in the mix”. His star status may be on the decline, but I really don’t see any shame in losing to the likes of Randy Couture and Jon Jones. However, even though Jon Jones quickly finished Vera in their “UFC on Versus” fight, Vera recently stated that he still doesn’t buy into the hype. Personally, I’m never again going to bet against Jon Jones. ...

Weighty decisions? Reljic vs Krzystof on tap for UFC 122
Weighty decisions? Reljic vs Krzystof on tap for UFC 122

UFC veteran Goran Reljic, made waves in the UFC in 2008 when he defeated then light heavyweight contender Wilson Gouveia, with second strikes. With an opening like that, which earned both him and Gouveia "Fight of the Night" honors, the sky appeared to be the limit for the Croatian sensation, who has trained alongside legend Mirko "Cro Cop". However, a 2-year lapse would follow where Goran had suffered from a serious back injury, putting him out of commission, and out of the minds and ears of the fans and media alike. ...

Great Moments in MMA History: "The Ultimate Fighter" Season 1

Welcome back fans and friends to another edition of “Great Moments in MMA History”. Today’s moment celebrates what many consider to be the launching point of the UFC into the mainstream, at a point where Mixed Martial Arts was still widely considered “human cockfighting”. The parent company of the UFC, Zuffa, was having trouble turning a profit after acquiring the UFC back in 2001, and all involved were aware of how increasingly sink-or-swim their predicament was becoming. Despite UFC President Dana White’s early hesitations, a plan was put forth, a TV show was pitched, and history was made. It was one of the most refreshing ideas to come to reality television in ages, and helped introduced the nation to the UFC and its varied casts of characters. It’s “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 1, and what a season it was. ...

Talks of UFC's Randy Couture at top of 205 Division Ridiculous

The post UFC 109 talks have begun and it did not take long for many to say Fighters.com's tenth-ranked heavyweight "Natural" Randy Couture (18-10) just elevated himself to the top five of the light-heavyweight division with his win over "The Hammer" Mark Coleman (16-10) Saturday night. The thought of him being in the top five is ridiculous when you look at the division and what he is done in the division since coming back down from heavyweight. ...

UFC Vets Randy Couture, Mark Coleman and Don Frye:Still Elite

UFC 109 takes place February 6 and the main event features Fighters.com tenth-ranked heavyweight "The Natural" Randy Couture (17-10) versus "The Hammer" Mark Coleman (16-9). This is being billed as "When Legends Collide" and many throughout the sport feel it is time for men of this age to step aside and let the young guns take over mixed martial arts (MMA). I am just the opposite and feel that not only should they stay keep fighting but I feel they still retain that elite status. ...
