Recently, it’s been confirmed that Fedor Emelianenko will be fighting Dan Henderson at Heavyweight on July 30 in strikeforce. The “Fedor vs. Henderson” fight card has almost-immediately became one of Strikeforce’s can’t-miss events for the year. And in addition to that mega match, two more interesting matches have been slated for July 30, live on Showtime. One of them involves a champion defending her crown, the other a former champion battling against a man that’s led a revival of the Gracie name single-handedly. Here are all the details. ...
I have no problem admitting that I felt quite deflated when it was announced that Mike Kyle had to pull out of his upcoming bout with Gegard Mousasi due to an injury. Kyle won me over as a fan back when he nearly stopped Antonio Silva and displayed quite a lot of heart and skill while doing so. But now Mousasi finds himself in much the same situation as BJ Penn: sitting on the sidelines and waiting for a new opponent. And in much the same vein, I’m going to throw my hat into the mix and give a list of the five fighters I think Gegard Mousasi should fight. Let’s dive right in. ...
Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion "King Mo" will be returning to the cage in the immediate future. In fact, for Lawal, it will be a chance for Muhammed to gain back some of the spotlight that was taken from him in August of last year, when former champ Rafael Cavalcante was able to dethrone the wrestling powerhouse on third-round strikes in Houston, Texas. Lawal will be returning to familiar territory when he comes back this June after an extended layoff due to a knee injury, when he meets with either Roger Gracie or Ovince St. Preux, two of Strikeforce's top light heavyweight stars. Muhammed will make his return in Dallas, Texas of all places. ...
After his most recent victory in the Strikeforce banner, many are already clamoring for the return of Roger Gracie, who impressed a lot of people with his most recent win over talented veteran Trevor Prangley last Saturday. The two fighters met at the HP Pavillion in San Jose, California for "Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg" in a featured main-card bout, with the Jiu-Jitsu world champion in Roger submitting the American Kickboxing Academy product inside of the first-round, making it look a little too easy. Along with the submission victory, Roger was also able to display some true stand-up ability against his South African opponent who counts wins over the likes of Keith Jardine, Travis Luttler, and Anthony Ruiz. ...
Hello and welcome to another “Top 5 Best Moments”, fans and friends. Whenever a major MMA promotion puts on a show, it always leaves fans talking. It’s that time once again, fans and friends. Another major MMA event has come and gone, leaving fans with a great night of fights and leaving the MMA community at large wondering “what’s next?” As is traditional, I’ll present my own answer to that very question in the form of the latest entry into my “What’s Next for the Winners and Losers” series, featuring the recent Strikeforce “Diaz vs. Cyborg” event. Let’s get right to it. ...

Here are the full results as well as some early commentary for Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Cyborg”. ...
It only just occurred, but Roger Gracie just notched his fourth straight MMA victory since debuting in the sport in 2011. Gracie shattered my expectations and dominated Trevor Prangley, needing only one takedown and one submission attempt to put away his veteran opponent. With his name increasing in value both in Strikeforce and in the global MMA landscape, here are five opponents I’d like to see Roger Gracie face. ...
When you're the most touted submission grappler in the world, I think most people expect you to submit some if not most of your opponents. In the case of Roger Gracie, not only does he remain undefeated as a professional mixed martial artist when he defeated the ten-year veteran in Trevor Prangley with a swift rear-naked choke, but not before showing off some of his much improved stand up skills which aided him with his latest victory. ...
We’re now only a few days away from Strikeforce’s “Diaz vs. Cyborg” event. In the main event, controversial top star Nick Diaz defends his Strikeforce Welterweight Championship against the hard-hitting Evangelista Santos. The co-main event will also be a championship affair, as Strikeforce Middleweight Champion and submission ace Ronaldo Souza takes on “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler. As is customary, here are my official picks and predictions for Strikeforce “Diaz vs. Cyborg”. ...

Even though the new year hasn’t even started yet, hopes remain high that 2011 will be a banner year for the surging strikeforce promotion. Everything seems to be falling exactly into place: a deal with CBS will likely be worked out to put Strikeforce back on national television; Strikeforce ended 2010 with its fantastic “Henderson vs. Babalu 2” event, and even a Heavyweight Grand Prix is in the works. And things just keep getting better for Strikeforce fans, as three big fights were recently made, fights that include a member of the famed Gracie fighting family, a former NFL great, and even an Olympic Judoka! Here are all the details. ...
Undefeated heavyweight Roger Gracie (2-0) teased a November 20 return to MMA at Strikeforce in an interview at Tatame Sunday. "I have plans to fight, maybe on November 20," Gracie said. "I still don’t have an opponent, but if my knee is good and I could train until then, I think there’s a lot of chances of me to fight this until this day." ...
A rib injury has forced Roger Gracie (2-0) to withdraw from his heavyweight match versus “Diesel” Travis Wiuff (53-11) at Sengoku 5 in Tokyo 28 September, his management told Sherdog Wednesday. Gracie tore an intercostal muscle after taking a kick to the ribs in training, and was advised by his physiotherapist not to train for at least four weeks. World Victory Road has not yet officially pulled Gracie from the card, nor announced a new opponent for Wiuff. ...
World Victory Road announced Thursday that YAMMA Pit Fighting Champion “Diesel” Travis Wiuff (53-11) will be Roger Gracie’s (2-0) opponent at Sengoku 5, 28 September in Tokyo. Also announced was a lightweight bout between Kiuma Kunioku (33-22-9) and South Korea’s A Sol Kwon (5-3). Wiuff is riding a ten-fight win streak, most recently knocking out Kazuyuki Fujita (15-7) at 1:24 of his Sengoku debut in June. Gracie, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu star, submitted Yuki Kondo (28-22-6) in May via rear naked choke in the first round. Kunioku, a former Pancrase champion, submitted his last opponent, Jay Ellis (7-23), via toe hold in 1:47 in May. Kwon last fought in June, winning a unanimous decision over Do Hyung Kim (4-2). ...
World Victory Road announced Tuesday the addition of four more fighters to the Sengoku 5 event happening 28 September in Tokyo, although no opponents have been named for them. Yuki Sasaki (21-14-1) will participate in the Middleweight Grand Prix. A Pancrase veteran and American Top Team member, he tapped in his last match in May to Jorge Santiago (17-7)’s armbar in round three. “GameBred” Jorge Masvidal (13-3), also from American Top Team, is coming off a second-round TKO loss to Rodrigo Damm (8-1) in June. Roger Gracie (2-0) won his last match in May over Yuki Kondo (28-22-6) via rear naked choke in the first round. Xande Ribeiro (0-0), who beat Gracie to become the 2008 BJJ Absolute World Champion, will be making his MMA debut. ...
Sunday in Tokyo at Sengoku II, Fighters.com's third-ranked heavyweight "Babyface Assassin" Josh Barnett (22-5) ground out a unanimous decision over "Snowman" Jeff Monson (24-8) in a match battled mostly on the mat. Heavyweight "Monster" Kevin Randleman (17-12) also pulled out a UD over Pancrase star Ryo Kawamura (8-3-2). The decision was considered controversial. Monson and Randleman are scheduled to fight on a 24 June card in Charlotte. Highly-touted Roger Gracie (2-0) remained undefeated after tapping MMA vet Yuki Kondo (48-22-6) in a rear naked choke at 2:40 of round one. "Kiss" Yoshihiro Nakao (7-1) called out "Ironhead" Kazuyuki Fujita (15-6) after knocking out Kiwi "Big" Jim York (9-2) 46-seconds into round two. American Top Team welterweight Jorge Santiago (17-7) fought off near-submissions before finding his own submission of Grabaka's Yuki Sasaki (21-14-1) in a third-round armbar at 2:10. Japanese MMA promoter World Victory Road has officially named weathered vet Yuki Kondo (48-21-6) as the opponent for Roger Gracie (1-0) at their Tokyo Sengoku II event 18 May. Gracie debuted in MMA in December 2006, tapping "H20" Ron Waterman (15-5-2) in an armbar at 3:38. In 2005, Gracie won the 88-98kg and open weight divisions at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championship by submitting all eight opponents, which had never been done. Long-time Pancrase fighter Kondo was upset by Keiichiro Yamamiya (33-22-9) last week, losing a majority decision to the striker. The 32-year old is 6-8-1 with no notable victories since knocking off four straight wins in '03 and '04. ...
World Victory Road has added Fighters.com's third-ranked heavyweight "The Babyface Assassin" Josh Barnett (21-5) to their 18 May Sengoku card at Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo. No opponent has been named. Also added to the line-up is a match-up between welterweights "Quicksand" Mike Pyle (15-5-1) and "The Handler" Dan Hornbuckle (15-1). Heavyweights Roger Gracie (1-0) and "The Monster" Kevin Randleman (16-12) remain on the card without opponents. At an 18 April press conference, WVR PR representative Takahiro Kokuho said, "At first we had one Japanese and one non-Japanese fighter ready to go [with Gracie]; but, because of injuries we are still in the process of deciding the opponent. Roger’s side has been asking us to decide the opponent soon and for sure I would like to meet that request." Randleman recently cancelled a puroresu match in Inoki Genome Federation with an ankle injury, but Kokuho promised, "It has no relation to his MMA bout. We should be able to announce his card sometime next week." ...
World Victory Road has added a middleweight match-up to their 18 May Sengoku event at Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo. Grabaka veteran Yuki Sasaki (21-13-1) will face American Top Team's Jorge Santiago (16-7). Sasaki, who's made the international rounds from Shooto through Pancrase, DEEP, and even a unanimous decision loss to "The Boogeyman" Dean Lister (10-5) in the UFC, comes off a first round armbar submission of debuting South Korean Bo Guk So (0-1) in DEEP last July. Santiago, who also had an unsuccessful stint in the UFC, last TKO'd Trevor Prangley (17-5) at Strikeforce last November. After Adrenaline MMA announced "The Snowman" Jeff Monson (24-7) would headline its 14 June card in Chicago, the heavyweight has been removed from the 18 May Sengoku appearance list. The list now includes "The Monster" Kevin Randleman (16-12), Roger Gracie (1-0), "Big" Jim York (9-1), and "Kiss" Yoshihiro Nakao (6-1), who recently bailed on an announced DREAM match with "Cro Cop" Mirko Filipovic (23-6-2).
