Evans is a commanding favorite to win this rematch, likely due to Ortiz’s recent string of tough losses. I’ve already covered 5 reasons why Evans could beat Ortiz, and now it’s time to give “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” his due. So here are five reasons why Tito Ortiz could beat Rashad Evans. ...

Why Did Lyoto Machida Turn Down A Rematch With Rashad Evans? UFC And Machida Give Different Reasons

When it was announced that Tito Ortiz had decided to rethink his earlier refusal and accept the ufc’s call to rematch Rashad Evans, some of us were left scratching our heads and wondering what happened to Lyoto Machida. When it was announced that Phil Davis had to pull out of his fight with Evans, many sources claimed that Machida/Evans 2 was in the works. However, that fight hasn’t happened, and it’s interesting to note that the UFC and Machida seem to have two very different reasons for why this fight wasn’t made. Here are all the details. ...

Rashad Evans Has Found An Opponent For UFC 133: Tito Ortiz

In the past few days, the ufc has been consumed by a hunt to find Rashad Evans a new opponent for his upcoming main event fight at UFC 133. This is the second time Evans has been left without an opponent, both Jon Jones and Phil Davis were scheduled to face Evans before pulling out due to injury. One popular rumor pointed to a rematch between Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans, but apparently that’s not true after all. And after originally declining the fight, it now appears that Tito Ortiz has had a change of heart and will be stepping in to fight Rashad Evans. Here are all the details. ...

Phil Davis Injured, Could Lyoto Machida Replace Him Against Rashad Evans?

The many troubles of Rashad Evans continue. Here’s a quick rundown: Evans sat on the sidelines for months waiting for Mauricio Rua to heal up, then got injured and was replaced by Jon Jones. When Jones won the ufc Light Heavyweight Championship, Evans was set to face Jones before Jones got injured. Jones was replaced by Phil Davis, and in a story that just broke, it’s now been revealed that Phil Davis has also been injured. And although it’s not confirmed, one site states that Lyoto Machida could be Evans’ replacement opponent. Here are all the details. ...

UFC 133 "Evans vs. Davis" Now Complete: What Should We Look Forward To?

Although it was once supposed to be called “Evans vs. Jones” and even "Aldo vs. Mendes", UFC 133 “Evans vs. Davis” has transformed itself into quite the respectable card. After sitting on the sidelines for a very long time in hopes that this exact thing wouldn’t happen, Rashad Evans puts his shot at the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship on the line while another man (Quinton Jackson) gets a shot at the championship. The fight card is also filled with several good veteran talents, from Antonio Rogerio Nogueira to Jorge Rivera to Vladimir Matyushenko. Barring any injuries from now until fight-time, here’s the complete line-up to UFC 133 as well as some of my early reactions. ...

Top 5 Opponents For Tito Ortiz
Top 5 Opponents For Tito Ortiz

At UFC 132, we barred witness to the seeming resurrection of Tito Ortiz. Ortiz came out and demolished Ryan Bader, once viewed as a top prospect, with shocking ease. Coming into this fight, it seemed as if Ortiz was destined for failure and would leave UFC 132 a defeated and ultimately retired fighter. But now, many people are wondering what’s next for “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy”. Here’s my answer to just that: the top 5 opponents for Tito Ortiz. ...

August event official, dubbed "UFC 133: Evans vs. Davis"
August event official, dubbed "UFC 133: Evans vs. Davis"

As the event draws close and closer, it seems as though the ufc has locked down a headliner for the upcoming pay-per-view card. Rashad Evans, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, will take on touted wrestler and budding contender Phil Davis. The two-men are now officially serving headlining duties for UFC 133, which takes place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 6th. While plans to have a championship headliner pitting UFC titleholder Jose Aldo against Chad Mendes were in the works, it looks as though the organization has instead opted for the Evans-Davis bout. ...

Top 5 Opponents For Lyoto Machida
Top 5 Opponents For Lyoto Machida

Lyoto Machida’s dramatic KO’ing of UFC legend Randy Couture at UFC 129 seems to have given new life to the career of “The Dragon”. At UFC 129, Machida proved that parts of his “Machida Enigma” remain unsolved, and that he can evolve his style over time in the same way that all long-reigning champions evolve their style. Now that a two-fight losing-streak is behind him, here are my thoughts on who I think Lyoto Machida should fight next. ...

Jon Jones injured, Rashad Evans gets Phil Davis at UFC 133
Jon Jones injured, Rashad Evans gets Phil Davis at UFC 133

Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans was quickly developing into the new "Rampage vs. Evans" saga, where both men, despite having been friends and training partners in the past, have now issued a verbal assault on one another through the media and social networking. The fight in of itself began to pique the interest of with multiple story lines attached to it---but now, that's going to have to wait. Originally, Jon Jones was to defend his ufc light heavyweight title against Rashad at UFC 133, however the champion is now going to be on the mend due to injury and now "Mr. Wonderful" has stepped in his place. ...

Rashad Evans: Jon Jones is fake
Rashad Evans: Jon Jones is fake

There was a point in time where both Rashad Evans and Jon Jones considered each other friends, or even "brothers", which nowadays is a loose term thrown around in the mixed martial arts community way too often. But nonetheless, those under the Greg Jackson brand are usually a very tight-knit group of fighters. You can look to no better example than Joe Stevenson and Melvin Guillard. Both have fought one another in the past and now are housed under the Jackson brand and have become fast friends and good training partners and insist that they will never again fight one another, despite having done battle in the past. However, recently the UFC light heavyweight champion in Jones has been noted as being somewhat "two faced". Saying one thing in confidence to Evans and then turning around and expelling tirades in the media. Yesterday was no different, where Jones made mention that he essentially "handled" Evans in practice, which as you can imagine is something that Rashad did not take too kindly to. ...

Jon Jones said he took it easy on Rashad Evans in practice
Jon Jones said he took it easy on Rashad Evans in practice

There are very few times in our sport where we see a fighter with so much natrual talent come along. First there was BJ Penn, whom seemed tailor made to be a fighter with his fast hands coupled with the knockout power he posseses, in addition to his world-class submission skills that earned him a championship with just a few years of training. Then there's Anderson Silva, who has developed into the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet, with his pin-point lethal striking that has drawn comparisons to moves that you could only traditonally see in movies. And now, there's Jon Jones. A powerhouse wrestler who uses his athletic ability to overcome even the most experienced foes. His full arsenal was on display in his last outing with then champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 128, whom Jones defeated via third-round TKO to become the new titleholder. And despite the respect he has shown in the past for former training partner Rashad Evans, who will next challenge Jon for the title, all of that has gone out the window, and if the fight goes on as practice has in the past, Jon will easily make his first successful title defense. At least according to him. ...

Nick Diaz: Rashad Evans and Jon Jones were not real teammates

Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz will fight anyone. He's proven such accolades in the past, as he has taken fights in the lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, and even light heavyweight division. So now with the acquisition of Strikeforce into the Zuffa fold, things have gotten a little bit skewed once again. The loyalty that him and his team (Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu) share is undeniable--arguably the most loyal team in the sport of mixed martial arts. When Jake Shields and Nick Diaz were both under the Strikeforce banner, Shields moved up to the middleweight class exclusively, just so he can avoid having to run into his teammate, and eventually both men became champions. So when people ask whether Diaz will fight any of his teammates, the answer is clear. So in Diaz' opinion, were Rashad Evans and Jon Jones ever "real teammates"? Definitely, not. Because that's not loyalty. ...

Mike Winkeljohn: If we knew ahead of time that this would happen, we might not have brought Jon Jones in

While Jon Jones has brought as a lot of attention to the mixed martial arts world with his dynamic and flashy style, he has also created discension in the infamous Greg Jackson training camp. Rashad Evans was one of the originals of the famed team, having began training there several years ago after his underdog performance on the second season of "The Ultimate Fighter" where he became the winner of the heavyweight field. After paring down to the light-heavyweight class, he became the champion of his division, and though he lost the crown soon thereafter, he worked his way back at a shot at the title. However now, Evans will be facing his former teammate in Jones, who has since made permanent residence with the Jackson team, causing Rashad to sever ties with his friends. Mike Winkeljohn, one of the head instructors and co-owner of the Jackson training facilities, wishes the whole situation could have been averted, and partly blames UFC champ Jon Jones. ...

The Mess Between Rashad Evans, Jon Jones, and Greg Jackson

Rashad Evans is making it known that he's not happy with the way his upcoming fight with UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones came about.  He's not just upset with Jones either;  Evans has also detailed some of his feelings regarding Greg Jackson and his role in the situation, particularly as they relate to Jackson's assertion that he will have no part in their upcoming fight. ...

So let’s examine the five reasons why Mauricio Rua could beat Rashad Evans in the final part of today’s four-parter. ...

Welcome back fans and friends, it’s now time for part 3 of today’s special four-part “5 Reasons Why”. I’ve already discussed why Rashad Evans could beat both Mauricio Rua and Jon Jones, but let’s be honest: both men stand just as much of a chance of beating Rashad. So let’s dive into the latter part of this four-parter with five reasons why Jon Jones could beat Rashad Evans. ...

I’ve already talked about the five reasons why Rashad Evans could beat Jon Jones, and now it’s time to talk about the five reasons why Rashad Evans could beat Mauricio Rua. Let’s get right to it. ...

5 Reasons Why Rashad Evans Could Beat Jon Jones

I was very intrigued when I learned that Rashad Evans is likely still the #1 contender to the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. It got me to thinking: does Evans stand a chance against Mauricio Rua or Jon Jones? Both men pose very different but very major threats to the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. But as I thought more on the situation, I realized that Evans poses big threats to both men even despite his long layoff. So, with UFC 128 just around the corner, here’s a sneak peek into the future: it’s four new editions of “5 Reasons Why”, focusing on why Rashad Evans could beat Mauricio Rua and Jon Jones, and then why both men could beat Evans. Let’s get this four-part entry started with 5 reasons why Rashad Evan could beat Jon Jones. ...

Rashad Evans still number one contender to the UFC title
Rashad Evans still number one contender to the UFC title

Despite having suffered an injury and not having competed since May of last year, Rashad Evans still maintains his top spot in the light heavyweight division. Recently, the former world champion suffered a knee injury in practice, in preparation for his bout with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, which was originally scheduled to take place this weekend. However, after the news of the knee went around, teammate Jon Jones eventually got the nod and will now be competing for the belt. While Rashad has gone to several media forums and stated that the likelyhood of him getting his immediate title shot is grim, solely because of his rocky relationship with UFC President Dana White, nothing could be further from the truth, explained the aforementioned UFC head honcho. ...

Jon "Bones" Jones Is Tired Of Talking About Rashad Evans

As we come closer and closer to UFC 128, more and more fans and insiders are giving their thoughts on the event’s leading attraction, an epic Light Heavyweight encounter between Mauricio Rua and Jon Jones for Rua’s UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. But a growing section of the fanbase is switching their focus to a proposed match-up between Jon Jones and his teammate, fellow highly-ranked fighter and former champion Rashad Evans. And “Bones” recently revealed that he’s becoming very tired of all the talk about him fighting his friend. ...

Dana White Asks A Simple Question: Why Does Everyone Want To See A Rematch To A Boring Fight?

It’s rare that I find myself wholeheartedly agreeing with ufc President Dana White. It’s not because I have some sort of vendetta against the man, unlike some of his cynics I’m well aware of the contributions he’s made to this sport and I don’t have a problem giving credit where credit is due. I tend to often disagree or partially disagree with him simply because he’s a controversial man that says controversial things. But recently, Dana White perfectly summed up my feelings on why Matt Hamill vs. Quinton Jackson isn’t getting half the praise that it should be: Matt Hamill fights to finish, and Rashad Evans vs. Quinton Jackson was a boring fight. ...
