The many troubles of Rashad Evans continue. Here’s a quick rundown: Evans sat on the sidelines for months waiting for Mauricio Rua to heal up, then got injured and was replaced by Jon Jones. When Jones won the ufc Light Heavyweight Championship, Evans was set to face Jones before Jones got injured. Jones was replaced by Phil Davis, and in a story that just broke, it’s now been revealed that Phil Davis has also been injured. And although it’s not confirmed, one site states that Lyoto Machida could be Evans’ replacement opponent. Here are all the details. ...

UFC 133 "Evans vs. Davis" Now Complete: What Should We Look Forward To?

Although it was once supposed to be called “Evans vs. Jones” and even "Aldo vs. Mendes", UFC 133 “Evans vs. Davis” has transformed itself into quite the respectable card. After sitting on the sidelines for a very long time in hopes that this exact thing wouldn’t happen, Rashad Evans puts his shot at the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship on the line while another man (Quinton Jackson) gets a shot at the championship. The fight card is also filled with several good veteran talents, from Antonio Rogerio Nogueira to Jorge Rivera to Vladimir Matyushenko. Barring any injuries from now until fight-time, here’s the complete line-up to UFC 133 as well as some of my early reactions. ...

August event official, dubbed "UFC 133: Evans vs. Davis"

As the event draws close and closer, it seems as though the ufc has locked down a headliner for the upcoming pay-per-view card. Rashad Evans, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, will take on touted wrestler and budding contender Phil Davis. The two-men are now officially serving headlining duties for UFC 133, which takes place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 6th. While plans to have a championship headliner pitting UFC titleholder Jose Aldo against Chad Mendes were in the works, it looks as though the organization has instead opted for the Evans-Davis bout. ...

Jon Jones injured, Rashad Evans gets Phil Davis at UFC 133

Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans was quickly developing into the new "Rampage vs. Evans" saga, where both men, despite having been friends and training partners in the past, have now issued a verbal assault on one another through the media and social networking. The fight in of itself began to pique the interest of with multiple story lines attached to it---but now, that's going to have to wait. Top 5 Fighters Most Likely To Survive An Alien Apocalypse

You know they’re coming. I know they’re coming. Perhaps they’ve been here all along, or maybe they’ve been spying on us for decades. They could want our water, or it could be their one weakness. They could come in peace, or they could just as easily come to kill us all. Aliens, my friends. The truth is out there, but the real question is: what do we do with that knowledge? In order to prepare us all for the inevitable, here are the top five fighters I believe could survive an alien apocalypse. ...

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira tops UFN 24 salary with $90k
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira tops UFN 24 salary with $90k

Last Saturday, we saw a changing of the guard in the mixed martial arts world, when Phil Davis aka "Mr. Wonderful" earned a hard-fought decision win over legend and former PRIDE star Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, brother to former ufc heavyweight champion "Minotauro". And while Rogerio succumbed his second loss inside the octagon, he still managed to pull in the largest base salary of all fighters on the card, which included the likes of former contenders Dan Hardy and Anthony Johnson also in action. ...

Best Of The Rest: UFC Fight Night 24 "Nogueira vs. Davis"

Hello once more fans and friends and welcome to another new edition of “Best of the Rest”! I really enjoy taking the time to give my detailed thoughts on a show after watching it, but after the serious discussion and debate I’ll raise in topics like “Top 5 Best Moments” and “Best Performance of the Night”, I think it’d be nice to have a tongue-in-cheek topic where I give out some other “awards”. It’s all in good fun, so don’t take any of it too seriously. So let’s dive right into this latest edition, now featuring Fight Night 24. ...

Here’s my take on the matter: my top 5 best moments of Fight Night 24: “Nogueira vs. Davis”. ...

What's Next For The Winners And Losers Of UFC Fight Night 24: "Nogueira vs. Davis"?

UFC Fight Night 24 had its fair share of ups and downs, but overall I considered it a solid “Fight Night” event. Now once again it’s time to ask: what’s next? Here’s my answer to just that: a new edition of my “What’s Next for the Winners and Losers” series of articles, now featuring UFC Fight Night 24: “Nogueira vs. Davis”. ...

UFN 24: Despite short notice, Phil Davis takes decision win over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

While Phil Davis has been lauded as a top prospect in the light heavyweight division for some time, few people gave "Mr. Wonderful" the benefit of the doubt that he would become a world beater so early in his career. However, Davis has done just that, as he recorded unarguably the biggest win of his career when he took on the former PRIDE star, and perennial top-10 fighter Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Despite contentious moments throughout the bout, Davis managed to get the job done and earn the decision win. ...

UFC Fight Night 24: All fighters on weight for tonight's Spike televised event

As tonight's combatants will soon enter the cage for arguably the most stacked UFC Fight Night card to date, everyone had their preliminary pre-fight preparations (say that five times fast) in order. With that said, most of the attention shared on the weigh-in ceremony largely surrounded the seemingly gargantuan Anthony Johnson, whom in the past has had a difficult time cutting to the welterweight limit of 170-pounds. However, today he looked as lean and svelte as he ever has before, as did everyone else who hit the scales, as not one fighter had an particular issue making their own specific weight class. ...

"UFC Fight Night 24" boasts five fights to air on facebook
"UFC Fight Night 24" boasts five fights to air on facebook

While most of the attention come this Saturday will be centered around the upcoming light heavyweight match-up pitting former PRIDE star Antonio Rogerio Nogueira against rising star Phil Davis, fans may want to pay a little bit closer attention to their status updates and facebook accounts. The UFC has recently launched a new campaign where the organization regularly hosts previously un-televised UFC bouts live and free, streaming on their facebook page for fans to watch some of their favorite fighters who may not have made the broadcast for whatever the reason. The tradition has become largely popular with the fans, and now the UFC will be presenting five fights to air on their facebook page, and I would be foolish to not insist everyone to check out the full lineup. ...

Finally Final Thoughts: UFC Fight Night 24 "Nogueira vs. Davis" Edition

With so much excitement and anticipation for UFC 128 in the days and weeks leading up to that event, I admit that I’ve somewhat neglected UFC Fight Night 24. However, as we come closer and closer to this event I’ve begun to realize how much I’m going to enjoy this show. So long as the fights live up to their potential, this should be another very solid night of UFC action. And now it’s time for my final say: this is the Fight Night 24 edition of “Finally Final Thoughts”, with my final, assorted thoughts on the card. Let’s get to it. ...

As is customary, here is my official “picks and predictions” post (covering who I think will win and why), now featuring UFC Fight Night 24. ...

UFC Bantamweight Nick Pace Instructs How To Apply The "Pace Choke"

How many current UFC fighters have a submission hold named after them?  I can't think of any, except for newcomer, Nick Pace.  The Staten Island, NY native ended his last bantamweight fight against Will Campuzano in what appeared, at first, as a modified triangle choke off his back.  However, if you noticed, Pace never utilized his left leg in the traditional way.  Instead he looped his right arm under Campuzano's neck, mostly out of sight of the fans and announcers, and was able to apply pressure to the neck to get the finish in an amazing fashion. Coming soon to Fighters.com, will be a full length feature on Pace about this move and his upcoming fight against Michael McDonald on the undercard of the Nogueira vs. Davis feature bout in Seattle, at the end of March. But first, watch Pace himself instruct how to apply the now famous "Pace Choke." Click through to watch the video. ...

Coming off of his first loss inside of the UFC, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, brother of former UFC champ "Minotauro" Nogueira, was aiming for a battle against former titleholder Tito Ortiz come next month. However, "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" has since pulled out of the scheduled 205-pound affair due to injury and now budding prospect Phil Davis has stepped up in his place. Tito Ortiz pulls out of match with Nogueira; Phil Davis steps up to the plate for UFC Fight Night 24

Changes, changes, changes. Try to keep up. Phil Davis was originally expected to meet with Matt Hamill this May for UFC 130, however "The Hammer" was since pulled from the bout to replace Thiago Silva who was originally expected to face off against former light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Then, Jason Brilz was pegged as Hamill's replacement. Now, former titleholder Tito Ortiz has reportedly been forced out of his bout with PRIDE star Antonio Rogerio Nogueira this March, and now "Mr. Wonderful" will be stepping up in his place on just a few weeks notice. ...

Jason Brilz steps up to face Phil Davis at UFC 129

Undefeated light heavyweight prospect Phil Davis was poised to be taking on arguably the toughest challenge of his career come this April, however things have changed. Instead, the Llyod Irvin product who trains alongside former UFC contender Brandon Vera and UFC champion Dominick Cruz, will be taking on Jason Brilz at UFC 129, which takes place at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada. ...

Well that was fast, Matt Hamill steps up to face Quinton "Rampage" Jackson this May at UFC 130

As reported earlier, Thiago Silva's bout with former champion Quinton Jackson looked to be in jeopardy. The light heavyweight contender recently scored a dominating decision win over former contender Brandon Vera at UFC 125, however since then his future has come under question, when the Brazilian's post-fight drug test results have gone anything but smoothly. MMAJunkie.com previously reported that the American Top Team product was the sole fighter on the January fight card who's post-fight drugs screenings were still under the scope, and since then Silva has admitted some foul play, though suggests that no performance enhancing drugs were involved. Now, his loss is another man's gain, as Matt Hamill has since stepped up in his place. ...

Exclusive: Chris Weidman - Is He The Best Fighter You Have Never Seen?

By John Moody                  (Go to the Video Page for interviews with Dana White, Frankie Edgar... more) (produced, shot, edited) Chris Weidman (205lbs) is not yet known to the wider world of MMA ... but that may change radically in 2011. Weidman is a former 2x All American wrestler from Hofstra who beat Ryan Bader and Phil Davis during his days on campus.  After college, Weidman joined up with Team Serra Longo and has rolled to four wins in the Ring Of Combat. Most impressive, however, was his run at the 2009 Abu Dhabi grappling tournament in Barcelona Spain where he beat Daniel Tabera, while competing well with Andre Galvao and Vinny Magalhaes in defeat.  This was after just eight months of Jiu Jitsu training. The Baldwin, Long Island native, who trains regularly with Gian Villante, (Strikeforce Heavyweight) will not be on the "up and comer" list much longer. Story Update 4:40pm 2/10: Weidman has standing contract offers from Strikeforce and Bellator.  Both are pending review by Team Weidman. Click through to watch the video. ...

"Mr. Wonderful" vs. Matt Hamill anticipated for UFC 129

Phil Davis will now enter the deep end of the light heavyweight division. The collegiate wrestling All-American will now embark onto the upper echelon of the packed 205-pound division when he takes on "The Ultimate Fighter" veteran Matt Hamill coming up at UFC 129. The event is scheduled to take place on April 30 at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada--the UFC's first inception into it's new territory. The venue can hold upwards to 60,000 in attendance, however the organization will likely taper down the number closer to 40,000, considering President Dana White has always stressed the importance of the fans experience. ...

After a "Wonderful" Performance, Phil Davis Discovers Nasty Gash That Almost Went Unnoticed

You put a lot of pressure on yourself when you choose “Mr. Wonderful” as your nickname. Then again, I suppose “Mr. Adequate” kinda defeats the purpose of having a nickname at all. Nevertheless, Phil Davis lived up to his “Mr. Wonderful” moniker in a big way at the recent ufc 123 event, submitting Tim Boetsch with a crazy quasi-Kimura that led popular UFC commentator Joe Rogan to name the submission after Davis. It was one of Davis’ best performances, but according to a recent interview, that fight could have been his last. Here are all the details. ...
