A bout originally scheduled for UFC 118 this Saturday, has been pushed off till November, for the UFC's second trip to Germany, and it's first since it's inception last year for UFC 99, which was headlined by former champions Wanderlei Silva and Rich Franklin. Said bout, a middleweight affair against Jorge Rivera against fellow banger Alessio Sakara has stayed alive. The bout will mark a true push for each competitor, as one another will look for contenders' status in a crowded 185-pound division, dominated by Anderson Silva--though Chael Sonnen might argue the point. ...

Nissen Osterneck Crosses Over to the UFC

Hawaiian middleweight Nissen Osterneck (4-1) is another fighter making the move from the WEC to the UFC. Osterneck confirmed to Fighters.com Sunday that his first fight in the Octagon should be in early 2009, although he has not yet received a bout agreement for an opponent. Osterneck most recently fought at WEC 36 in November, when he was TKO’d in round two by Jake Rosholt (5-0). ...

Former WEC Featherweight champion "California Kid" Urijah Faber (21-2) got shocked by American Top Team's Mike Thomas Brown (15-4) via TKO stoppage at 2:23 of the first round Wednesday night at WEC 36 in Hollywood, north of Miami. Brown took the title decisively following a right hand that laid the former champ out.  Chael Sonnen (21-9-1) won a surprisingly boring unanimous decision over Fighters.com's third-ranked middleweight and WEC Middleweight Champion Paulo Filho (15-1) in a non-title fight that was heckled by fans throughout.  Official scores were 10-9 twice for Sonnen, 10-8 for Sonnen.  "Bad Boy" Leonard Garcia (11-3) dismantled "Little Evil" Jens Pulver (22-9-1) in a 1:12 TKO shocker to move up the ranks in the WEC's stacked 145-pound division. ...

WEC newcomer Nissen Osterneck (5-0) will face former NCAA wrestling champion Jake Rosholt (4-0) at WEC 36 on 5 November in Hollywood, FL, Osterneck confirmed to Fighters.com Monday. Osterneck replaces American Top Team’s “Indio” Danillo Villefort (8-2).  The reason for his removal from the card is unknown at this time. Rosholt’s manager Ted Ehrhardt revealed to Five Ounces of Pain Monday that this bout will be Rosholt’s only WEC fight; UFC matchmaker Joe Silva reportedly informed them that Rosholt will be moved to the UFC’s middleweight ranks after the November event. Rosholt last fought in March when he TKO’d “Don’t Play” Chad Jay (7-2) in the third round. Osterneck submitted Freddie Espiricueta (3-3) in round one at HDNet Fights’ December event. ...
