"Feijao vs. Henderson" Medical Suspensions And Salaries: Is Strikeforce Mistreating Marloes Coenen?

It’s always important and interesting to try and figure out how successful any major, recent MMA event was. Miesha Tate out of title bout with Strikeforce champ Marloes Coenen; Liz Carmouche steps up in Tate's place

Top contender Miesha Tate has now bowed out of her March 5 title fight with reigning 135-pound Strikeforce women's champion, Marloes Coenen. Tate gained her position to challenge for the title when she came out the victor last August at a one-night four-woman tournament, defeating the likes of Maiju Kujala and former title challenger Hitomi Akano, dominating both women with her superior wrestling prowess en route to decision victories. However, since succumbing to injury, Tate's loss is another woman's gain is undefeated Liz Carmouche will now be vying for the 135-pound strap against Coenen come this March. ...

Marloes Coenen defends title against Miesha Tate at "Strikeforce: Columbus" coming up in March

While the Cesar Gracie team has been well represented with champions Gilbert Melendez and Nick Diaz standing at the top of their weight classes, perhaps one team has been overlooked. Golden Glory fighters are coming in bunches into the Strikeforce organization, including former PRIDE star Sergei Kharitonov, the estranged Sengoku veteran Siyar Bahadurzada, and champions Alistair Overeem and the soon-to-be defending women's welterweight titleholder, Marloes Coenen. The dynamic Dutch fighter will be returning to the cage this March when she takes on current number one contender, Miesha Tate. ...

Strikeforce Champ Marloes Coenen Promises A Spectacular 2011, A Converted Fan Agrees

2010 was a very interesting year for MMA, for several reasons. The sport continued to grow at an unparalleled rate, several challengers to the UFC continued to set themselves apart and grow both their fanbase and as a business, and the phrase “anything is possible in MMA” took on an entirely new meaning as countless come-from-behind victories were scored and several amazing and unexpected finishes took place. Women’s MMA continued to grow in 2010 despite having an up-and-down year, and according to newly-crowned strikeforce Women’s Welterweight Champion Marloes Coenen, she too experienced continued growth in an up-and-down year. ...

Roxanne Modafferi cut by Strikeforce following failed title attempt

In a cruel and unusual turn of events, strikeforce has released former title challenger and top-10 female fighter, Roxanne Modaferri. The promotion has done an admirable job with building female fighters, case in point Cristiane Santos who is more affectionately known simply as "Cyborg", but their most recent move has left a few people scratching at the head with a profoundly ignorant look on their faces. ...

"Strikeforce: Diaz vs Noons II" Payroll: Diaz and "The Punk" take top-billing

strikeforce, last Saturday night, but together yet another stellar card in 2010. October 9 saw welterweight champion Nick Diaz successfully defend his title for the first time against rival KJ Noons, earning a bit of revenge in the process. The two fighters met 3 years ago under the now defunct Elite XC banner, where Noons was declared the winner after cutting Nick with several telling blows, which eventually lead to a Doctors stoppage after the end of the first round. However, the second time around, Diaz was able to outbox the professional boxer, en route to a unanimous decision victory after a hard-fought five round affair. ...

New Strikeforce Champion Marloes Coenen Comments on Winning the Title and Facing Miesha Tate

When it comes to unlikely champions, the newly-crowned Strikeforce Women’s Welterweight (135-pound) Champion Marloes Coenen seemed pretty unlikely. Coenen was coming off of a humbling TKO loss to Strikeforce Women’s Middleweight (145-pound) Champion and engine of destruction Cristiane Santos, but was nevertheless awarded another championship opportunity after dropping down in weight, this time against then-champion Sarah Kaufman. Coenen made the absolute most out of the opportunity and outright dominated Kaufman, but the new champion is now facing a very real threat to her belt in the form of Miesha Tate. Here’s what the new Strikeforce champion had to say about her championship-winning performance at the recent Strikeforce: "Diaz vs. Noons 2" event as well as her early thoughts on Tate, who is more than likely her next opponent. ...

What's Next for the Winners and Losers of Strikeforce: "Diaz vs. Noons 2"?

Hello once more fans and friends and welcome to another edition of “What’s Next?” Today’s piece centers on Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Noons 2”. The event saw some good fights, a few questionable flubs on the part of the refereeing and judging staff, and several noteworthy moments. In the main event, Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz evened out the score to his incredibly bitter rivalry with KJ Noons. But where does this huge win leave Diaz, and for that matter, where does everyone go from here? Here’s what I think the future holds for some of the big winners and losers of Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Noons 2”. ...

Strikeforce "Diaz vs. Noons 2" Results: Sweet Revenge for Nick Diaz, Sweet Validation for Marloes Coenen

Another one went into the history books tonight, as Strikeforce’s “Diaz vs. Noons 2” event is now a thing of the past. The event itself didn’t go off without a hitch: there were several referee errors and another brain-dead judge pick in a seemingly infinite list of recent brain-dead judge picks. But several things shone bright tonight: Marloes Coenen proved me wrong in a huge way, Nick Thompson and “JZ” Cavalcante gave us an epic showdown, and in the main event, Nick Diaz beat the last man to ever beat him in what may be considered one of the most important moments of his career. Here are all the results as well as my reaction to Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Noons 2”. ...

Picks and Predictions for Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Noons 2”

It all goes down today, fans and friends. After almost three years of intense build-up, Nick Diaz vs. KJ Noons 2 is now a reality. Tonight Strikeforce will holds its “Diaz vs. Noons 2” event on Showtime, featuring the aforementioned rematch, with the added bonus of the Strikeforce Welterweight Championship being on the line. Even the Strikeforce Women’s Welterweight (135-pound) Championship is on the line. It should be a good event, so here are my picks and predictions for all the big fights. ...
