A light heavyweight match-up could be the latest addition to this June’s pay-per-view event which is set to hit Vancouver with a bang.

In the main event of the evening, former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will be returning to the cage for the first time since a disappointing loss to current titleholder Cain Velasquez last October. He will next face Junior dos Santos for the number one contenders spot, in order to determine who will go on to meet with Velasquez at a later date sometime this year.

Also on the card, it looks like Canadian and fan favorite Krzysztof Soszynski will be back in action, taking on the tested Anthony Perosh, who is recently coming off of his first ufc career win.

Krzysztof was last seen inside the cage when he took home a decision win over the dangerous striker in Goran Reljic, back at UFC 122 this past November. The win helped the Polish-Canadian bounce back from a TKO loss to Stephan Bonnar at UFC 116 in July of last year. The loss, however, earned both men “Fight of the Night” honors.

Up next for “The Polish Experiment” is Anthony Perosh, who after some time as a heavyweight, has finally pared down to the 205-pound division and has since extracted victory in the new weight class.

The Aussie native was last seen inside the octagon at UFC 127, at the Acer Arena in Sydney where he was able to quickly submit Tom Blackledge with a rear-naked choke inside of the first-round. The win was his first in the UFC after a four-fight stint with the promotion. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt will need all of his grappling prowess when he steps into the cage with “KS”, who also has a fancy for the submission world, where he has recorded back-to-back “Submission of the Night” awards early in his UFC career over the likes of Shane Primm in his promotional debut, and later against former WEC champ Brian Stann.

MMAJunkie.com were the first to report the likelihood of the bout, which is still in it’s infantile stages, however it appears that both parties have verbally agreed to the contest.

So, MMA peeps, how do you see this fight shaking out? Will the former IFL star come out on top over Perosh, or will “The Hippo” notch up another win? Sound off in the comment section below.

UFC veteran Goran Reljic, made waves in the UFC in 2008 when he defeated then light heavyweight contender Wilson Gouveia, with second strikes.

With an opening like that, which earned both him and Gouveia “Fight of the Night” honors, the sky appeared to be the limit for the Croatian sensation, who has trained alongside legend Mirko “Cro Cop”.

However, a 2-year lapse would follow where Goran had suffered from a serious back injury, putting him out of commission, and out of the minds and ears of the fans and media alike.

Following his return, it marked a first for the Croatian, who began his career as a heavyweight eventually paring down to 205. Goran returned to the UFC after having successfully healed from injury as a middleweight, against “The Ultimate Fighter” season 7 finalist, C.B Dollaway.

Unsuccessful in the return, Goran was taken down repeatedly by the collegiate wrestler, who trains alongside standouts Aaron Simpson and Ryan Bader out of Arizona Combat Sports. Goran would make another run at 185, this time against season 4 winner of “The Ultimate Fighter”, Kendall Grove.

The decision while controversial by some accounts, went to the favor of the Hawaiian, giving Goran his only his second loss.

Now it appears that Reljic will try his luck again at 205, against one of the biggest men in the division, Krzystof Soszynski.

The former body builder and self proclaimed “Polish Experiment”, has found some success in the UFC’s crowded 205-pound division, and was in early talks to becoming a serious contender when he stormed through with three consecutive victories since leaving the 8th seasons of “The Ultimate Fighter”. With wins over Stephan Bonnar and Brian Stann anchoring his career highlights, The Canadian will prove to be Goran’s toughest test yet.

UFC 122 is expected to take place sometime in November, marking the UFC’s second trip to Germany, where Croatians run rapid.

So, was Goran’s move back to 205 made too hastily? How do you like his chances against the “Polish Experiment”?

All signs point to a third loss and a UFC pink slip following his walk away from the cage.

Bonnar had appealed his UFC 110 loss to The Ultimate Fighter 8 light heavyweight “Polish Experiment” Krzysztof Soszynski (20-9-1) in Sydney February 20.

The fight was stopped at 1:04 of round three by the doctor after Bonnar’s wig was split due to an accidental headbutt. Bonnar appeared to be winning the exciting fight up to the accidental headbutt.

Bonnar immediately appealed for the fight to be ruled a no contest and has lobbied for a rematch. According to reports, Bonnar and Soszynski will rematch at The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale in Las Vegas June 19.

“The Experiment” Krzysztof Soszynski (17-8-1) defeated Shane Primm (3-1) via submission during the Ultimate Fighter Season 8 Finale in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Round one started with Soszynski landing a straight left punch followed by a left hook that stunned Primm. Primm recollected himself and scored a takedown but Soszynski got back to his feet. Primm went to the clinch pushing Soszynski into the cage. In the process, Primm ate several uppercuts from Soszynski. Down on the ground, Soszynski took side control and attempted a kimura. Escaping the kimura attempt Primm also evades a serious right hand punch at the end of the round.

The second round began with Soszynski landing another strong left hand punch. Both fighters swung wildly for moments but nothing scored from either side. Primm attempted a takedown but Soszynski strongly stuffed it. Soszynski then tired another kimura. At first it was loose but after a brief adjustment, Soszynski grabs Primm’s arm strongly. Primm in visible pain taps out.

Krzysztof Soszynski officially won via submission by kimura at the 3:27 mark of the second round.

“The fight starts right now,” proclaimed Fighters.com’s top heavyweight contender “Minotauro” Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (31-4-1) about his eventual UFC title defense turned fight for top UFC contendership versus Frank Mir (11-3).

UFC President Dana White proclaimed the same thing to this season’s 32 contestants to be coached by Nog’ and Mir for the TUF 8 championship at lightweight and light heavyweight; but, before he could finish his sentence, Phillipe Nover (5-0-1) hit the deck in a fainting spell.

“Fainting Phillipe” White called him; and, Nover had a tough opening challenge versus Joe Duarte (3-0).

“I’m going to have to make him faint again,” Duarte said before the fight.

But, it was Duarte who had to tap in a Nover rear naked choke in the second round to keep from fainting.

Nover opened the first round with a head kick, followed by a body kick.

“He hits like a heavyweight,” Nog’ said.

But, Duarte countered a Nover leg kick with a straight left that dropped Nover. Duarte pounced; and, Nover gave up his back and ate an elbow. But, Nover actually pounded Duarte while Duarte had his back and attempted a rear naked choke.

In the second round, Nover tripped Duarte into half mount. Duarte gave up his back; and, Nover slipped in the rear naked choke.

Mike Stewart (1-1) made the field of 32 when Jason Guida (17-17), brother of lightweight “Carpenter” Clay Guida (24-9), couldn’t make the 205-pound weight limit.

As quickly as he stepped-in, he stepped out after a straight left from Krzysztof Soszynski (15-8-1).

“Machete” Fernando Bernstein (0-0) “was more like the butter knife,” said White after Bernstein was quickly tapped out in a rear naked choke by Dave Kaplan (0-0).

“Sugar” Rashad Evans‘s (12-0-1) brother, Lance Evans (2-2), quit with a rib injury after one round versus “Pezao” Vinicius Magalhaes (0-1).

Built like a brickhouse Antwain Britt (3-1) won a light heavyweight spot in the TUF house in a majority decision slugfest versus “Big Deal” Ryan Jimmo (6-1).

Light heavyweight Jules Bruchez (0-0) was very confident after Eric Magee (1-1) in a rear naked choke.

Lightweight Brian McLaughlin (0-0) took it to Brandon Garner (4-1) in the first round before Garner zapped McLaughlin with an illegal knee and the fight was declared a No Contest.

White decided McLaughlin had earned a bed before the fight was stopped without a winner.

This season’s Jeremy May (5-5), Jose Aguilar (0-0), talked a lot before one round with Junie Allen Browning (1-0).

Browning rolled out of two Aguilar ankle locks on the road to an otherwise dominating striking and G’n'P display.

Aguilar quit in his corner, saying “I’m pretty. That’s all that matters, dog.”

Browning was clearly Mir’s favorite fighter. He coached Browning through his domination of Aguilar and told Nog’, “Don’t pick him. He told me he hates Brazilians.”

The difference in personalities between Mir and Nog’ were immediately noticeable. Mir talked a lot while Nog’ watched and said little. Nog’ also revealed little about the fighters he’s eyeing for his team while Mir let slip who his early favorites were.

Next week, the final sixteen fighters will fight their way into the remaining eight beds.
