Last Saturday, arguably strikeforce's most successful event went off without a hitch, as two of the organization's more dominant champions successfully defended their titles before an electric crowd in San Diego, California. Nick Diaz and Gilbert Melendez, teammates under the infamous Cesar Gracie brand, were both successful in their respective title bouts, with Diaz laying claim as one of the best and most dangerous welterweight fighters in the world with his first-round TKO over UFC castout Paul Daley, and Gilbert with his highly anticipated rematch with Japanese sensation Tatusya Kawajiri, which resulted in a one-sided TKO win for "El Nino". While the two men were perhaps among the nights most impressive winners, they were also among the top-earners for the entire event. ...
Multiple storylines came pouring out from the recent Strikeforce event in San Diego, California. Champions and teammates Gilbert Melendez and Nick Diaz were able to retain their titles in memorable bouts with some of their toughest tests to date, as both men challenged hard hitters in Tatsuya Kawajiri and Paul Daley (respectively) with both men earning first-round TKO wins. Shinya Aoki, the DREAM lightweight champion also returned victorious under the Strikeforce banner as he took out former top prospect Lyle Beerbohm with a first-round submission victory. And then there was the Gegard Mousasi and Keith Jardine bout, which resulted in a very disappointing majority draw, a decision which has been panned by the media and fans alike. However, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker has a simple solution to that problem. Let's let them do it, again. ...
Keith Jardine has some "big ones". He always seems like the type of fighter that can always rise to the occasion, despite possessing one of the more infamously panned "chins" in the mixed martial arts community. He's pulled off the upset plenty of times. Having beaten Chuck Liddell who was just removed from his strap as the UFC light heavyweight champion and defeating Forrest Griffin with a first-round TKO, proves that Jardine is certainly no push over. However, if you would have told me that the Greg Jackson product had only nine-days to prepare for a fighter of the caliber of Gegard Mousasi, I would have told you that it's almost a "gimme" that the former Strikeforce titleholder would dismantle Jardine inside of the first-round. Such was not the case, and the result of the bout is the reason why this fight was my particular "Upset of the Night". ...
Hello once more fans and friends and welcome to another new edition of “Best of the Rest”! I really enjoy taking the time to give my detailed thoughts on a show after watching it, but after the serious discussion and debate I’ll raise in topics like “Top 5 Best Moments” and “Best Performance of the Night”, I think it’d be nice to have a tongue-in-cheek topic where I give out some other “awards”. It’s all in good fun, so don’t take any of it too seriously. So let’s dive right into this latest edition, now featuring Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Daley”. ...
Strikeforce’s recent “Diaz vs. Daley” event featured several big finishes from some of Strikeforce’s brightest stars. And above all else, it was Team Cesar Gracie that showed their dominance, with Gilbert Melendez dramatically finishing Tatsuya Kawajiri while Nick Diaz became the first man to ever legitimately TKO Paul Daley. But which stars shined brightest, and what moments will fans be talking about in the following weeks? Here’s my take on the matter: my top 5 best moments of Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Daley”. ...
Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Daley” was an interesting event to say the very least. It was a night of fights that featured brutal stoppages, fantastic submissions, and one very controversial Majority Draw. Now once again it’s time to ask: what’s next? What does the future hold after “Diaz vs. Daley”? Here’s my answer to just that: a new edition of my “What’s Next for the Winners and Losers” series of articles, now featuring Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Daley”. ...
The first Strikeforce “Arena Series” show held under the Zuffa banner took place tonight, and “Diaz vs. Daley” is now in the history books. It was a night of fights that started big and got progressively bigger. Two championships were on the line tonight, and several amazing finishes occurred throughout the broadcast . Here are the full results as well as some early commentary on Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Daley”. ...
Beginning his career as a heavyweight, Keith Jardine found his way into the UFC in 2006 when he competed on the second-season of "The Ultimate Fighter", where early he was pegged as one of the favorites to win his season, though he came up short in an exhibition bout with future teammate and best friend Rashad Evans, who went on to become the TUF champ. After a heavyweight tilt with Kerry Schall in the finale, Jardine moved down to the light heavyweight division where he managed to notch up impressive victories over the likes of notables Wilson Gouveia, Brandon Vera, and former champions Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin. After his exit from the promotion in 2010, which came on the heels of a four-fight losing skid, Jardine has since comprised a two-fight streak and hopes to add Gegard Mousasi--whom he meets this Saturday in Strikeforce--to his list of impressive victories. Regardless of the outcome though, "The Dean of Mean" intends to make a run in the middleweight class. ...
We’re now only a couple of days away from Strikeforce’s “Diaz vs. Daley” event. It’s a live, free night of fights on the Showtime network that I’ve spent a lot of time talking about. And for good reason: it’s a stacked “Arena Series” show with two dominant champions taking on two very worthy challengers. But now it’s time for my final say: this is another “Finally Final Thoughts”, covering my last, assorted thoughts and feelings before “Diaz vs. Daley”. Let’s get to it. ...
The last time former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi competed in Strikeforce was when he lost his championship to Muhammed Lawal. Lawal out-wrestled Mousasi for five rounds and took home both the Unanimous Decision win and Mousasi’s title. Gegard has since competed twice in the Japanese-based DREAM organization, winning both times, and at Strikeforce’s upcoming “Diaz vs. Daley” event, Mousasi makes his return against former UFC star Keith Jardine. “The Dean of Mean” steps in for an injured Mike Kyle in a bout that would have likely guaranteed the winner a shot at the championship. But what happens now? What if Mousasi wins? Here are my thoughts on just that. ...
On April 9, 2011, Strikeforce will hold its highly-anticipated “Diaz vs. Daley” event, featuring Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz defending the belt against one of the hardest strikers anyone at 170 could possibly face: KO machine Paul Daley. Also, Gilbert Melendez returns after an extended hiatus to defend his Strikeforce Lightweight Championship against Keith Jardine. Still, some fans may be asking themselves: what are the best reasons to check out this card? Here’s my answer to just that: 5 reasons to watch Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Daley”. ...
We’re now only a few days away from Strikeforce: “Diaz vs. Daley. In the main event, Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz looks to successfully defend his belt for the third time (which would make him the most dominant champion in Strikeforce history) by beating challenger and notorious bad-boy Paul Daley. The co-main event will also be an interesting match-up, as Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez returns after almost a year off to make the second defense of his championship, this time against Tatsuya Kawajiri. As is customary, here is my official “picks and predictions” post (covering who I think will win and why), now featuring Strikeforce: "Diaz vs. Daley". ...

It’s tough to talk about former ufc star Keith Jardine nowadays without immediately adopting a somber, “what could have been” tone. From a highly-touted Light Heavyweight prospect to a five-fight losing-streak, “The Dean of Mean” has virtually done it and seen it all. Jardine recently broke his long losing streak at the highly-controversial “Nemesis Fighting” event, although it remains to be seen whether or not the unsanctioned bout will be added to his official record. Nevertheless, Jardine recently shared some new insights on his career as he approaches the long-sought-after light at the end of the tunnel. ...
It’s an unfortunate fact of life: the more popular something gets, the more it has a chance of developing a seedy underbelly. As Mixed Martial Arts continues to sweep the globe with the UFC leading the charge, there have emerged several “one and done” promotions hoping to make a quick buck by cashing in on the latest craze. Most of the time these promotions exist very briefly and quickly find out the cardinal truth of MMA: there are no overnight successes. This trend has unfortunately given rise to another trend: fighters not getting paid. And that’s exactly what happened at a recent event in the Dominican Republic featuring former UFC stars like the much-maligned Keith Jardine. Here are all the details. ...
Keith Jardine is looking to make a comeback, hopefully soon, beginning with his next bout which takes place on December 11. The event, "Nemesis Fighting: MMA Global Invasion", takes place at the Barcelo Convention Center in the Dominican Republic. The card features a who's who of top mixed martial arts talent that you won't find in the UFC, or at least not yet, but most of them have been on the big stage before. Case in point, Jardine, a veteran who spanned 13 fights within the worlds largest mixed martial promotion from 2005-till June of this year. Now riding a 5 fight losing streak, it's now or never for "The Dean of Mean" to let everyone know that he is still relevant in a sport that he has delivered many memorable performances for. ...
Dana White has spoken his mind yet again, and given MMA fans a few new bits of wisdom to chew on and think about. Today’s subject? The continuing debate on whether or not teammates should fight each other. Just yesterday I came out strongly against teammates not fighting each other, and it appears that Dana White and I have a lot in common when it comes to why teammates not fighting each other is stupid. Here are the highlights from an interview Dana White did with Jim Rome, with transcriptions courtesy of MMA Weekly. ...
Should teammates fight each other? It’s a topic that only pops up ever so often, but when it does, it usually ignites a pretty big debate. Many famous MMA stars have come out against the idea, in particular, Jon Fitch and Keith Jardine have stated several times that they will never fight their teammates. Other fighters seem a bit more willing to say “never say never”. However, you can add another big name to the list of fighters who aren’t only saying “never”, but “never ever not in a million years.” And that man just so happens to be one of the brightest prospects the ufc has ever seen. Here are all the details. ...
It’s a case of "down but not out" for battle-weary ex-UFC star Keith Jardine. “The Dean of Mean” hasn’t tasted victory since over two years ago, despite the fact that he consistently produces entertaining fights and belongs to the prestigious Greg Jackson camp, home to such talents as former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans and current UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre. Despite a five-fight losing streak, don’t call it a career just yet fans and friends: Jardine has been given another headline attraction in a lower-tier promotion. ...
The meteoric rise of Jon Jones has been well documented, while the less flashy climb to the top that Ryan Bader has traveled has been perhaps less noticeable. But, none the less, both competitors will find themselves pitted against one another when the collegiate wrestlers meet at an as of yet announced event in Las Vegas, Nev., for UFC 127. Jones, the proverbial golden boy of the light heavyweight division, has been nothing but impressive since his inception into the UFC. While his record reads 11-1, by all means the Endicott, New York, native is an undefeated prodigy. ...
Shark Fights 13 was a significant landmark in the career of popular UFC fighter “The Dean of Mean” Keith Jardine. Unfortunately for all involved, the landmark was “rock bottom”. What should have been the first triumphant step in the long road back to the UFC became another nail in the coffin, as veteran MMA fighter Trevor Prangley took Jardine to a three-round decision and ultimately handed him his fifth straight loss in a row. In a post-fight interview with Sherdog.com, Jardine gave his immediate feelings on the event and his opponent. ...
It’s that time again, fans and friends. Another regional MMA promotion has taken their shot at the big-time, as Shark Fights just concluded its “Shark Fights 13” event live on Pay-Per-View, featuring a main event between hard-hitting veterans Keith Jardine and Trevor Prangley. Even though it was a night filled with decisions, there were some pretty good fights both on the live undercard stream on Sherdog.com and the main card on PPV. Here are all the results and my thoughts. ...
Today marks a pivotal turning point in the surging Shark Fights promotion, as weigh-ins were held to make their upcoming Pay-Per-View card “Shark Fights 13” official. Featuring a main event between Keith Jardine and Trevor Prangley, Shark Fights 13 looks to be a solid card admittedly filled with a majority of ex-UFC stars. However, they're some pretty intriguing fights for what they’re worth, and the only problem that arose during the weigh-ins was that Paul Daley once again missed the mark. ...
For a man once highly touted as the next big can’t-miss fighter at Light Heavyweight, times certainly are tough nowadays for Keith Jardine. Jardine’s five-year, thirteen-fight career in the UFC came to an unfortunate end in June of this year, when Jardine’s loss to Matt Hamill made “The Dean of Men” 0-4 in his last four fights. Ironically, Jardine’s performance was good enough to get him a “Fight of the Night” bonus, but not enough to stave off the dreaded pink slip, as Jardine was cut from the organization shortly after losing. Now back on the independent/lower-tier circuit for the first time in almost six years, Jardine recently spoke to Sherdog.com and filled his fans in on where his head is at as he enters a new chapter in his career. ...
You read that right, fans and friends: free and most importantly legal streaming Mixed Martial Arts will be featured on September 11, 2010. Sherdog.com brings the news that they themselves will be streaming five undercard bouts from the upcoming “Shark Fights 13” event, which is expected to have a main card featured live on Pay-Per-View. Shark Fights 13 takes place in the Amarillo Civic Center Coliseum in Amarillo, Texas and will feature famous former UFC veteran Keith Jardine in the main event. Here are all the details regarding the upcoming card and the upcoming stream. ...
Shark Fights, a well respected regional promotion, is upping-the-ante as they now intend on making "Shark Fights 13" main card, a pay-per-view affair. ...
This evening UFC 115 takes place in Vancouver and the main event is two of the UFC's brightest stars. "The Iceman" Chuck Liddell (21-7) and "Ace" Rich Franklin (26-5) step inside the Octagon where one seems to be the clear favorite but I tend to disagree. ...
The eleventh season of "The Ultimate Fighter" (TUF) came to an end last night and finalized the line up for the finale with Court McGee (9-1) facing off against Kris McCray (5-0) in the finals. ...
All fighters on the UFC 110 card in Sydney Saturday made weight. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (233.2 lbs./106 kg) vs. Cain Velasquez (242 lbs./110 kg) ...
This coming Saturday UFC 110 takes place and we get to see a man that was once considered the most feared fighter in mixed martial arts, "The Axe Murderer" Wanderlei Silva (33-10-1). The question has been posed that if Silva were to lose what happens to him on what is commonly referred to as "UFC Cut Day". I am hear to tell you that Wanderlei is not going anywhere. ...
