Joey Beltran
- Full Name: Joey Beltran
It all starts with Brock Lesnar. The former UFC heavyweight champion was scheduled to square off against Brazilian striker Junior dos Santos in the main-event of the evening for UFC 131. However, the wrestling powerhouse is currently in his second-battle with diverticulitis, an intestinal disease, that has since sidelined him for the foreseeable future. Shane Carwin took Lesnar's place, though the power puncher was originally scheduled to meet with newcomer Jon Olav Einemo. Carwin was then replaced with Dave Herman to take on Einemo, though Herman was originally scheduled to meet with Joey Beltran. Now, "The Mexecutioner" will meet with Strikeforce vet Aaron Rosa, who will be making his octagon debut now after the huge heavyweight shuffle. ...

A longtime prospect in the heavyweight division, Dave Herman will finally be entering the octagon. A former EliteXC and Sengoku star, Herman has amassed a 20-2 record since his inception into the world of mixed martial arts in 2006 and has already defeated a bevy of notable fighters. And while there will surely be a lot of hype surrounding the heavyweight standout, Joey Beltran will be there to greet him---and for those who are familiar with "The Mexecutioner" know that he is no pushover, especially when his back is up against the wall. ...
There are many different ways of saying the following phrase, but to put it simply and plainly: haters gonna hate. And while there are different ways to glitz that term up and ways of making it a bit more politically correct, it’s a great term nonetheless, and one that everyone has to encounter sooner or later. UFC star Pat Barry knows that term very well, since critics continue to hound him following his high-profile loss to Mirko Filipovic. Now with a dominating performance over Joey Beltran under his belt, Barry recently took the time to address his critics and give some thoughts on what his future holds. ...
Duke Roufus, leader of Team-RoufusSport, received a monster shot of adrenaline last month when his then rising star, Anthony Pettis, exploded into orbit with his Matrix wall climb head kick in his win over Ben Henderson. Now, Roufus looks to transfer that mojo to his number two prospect, Pat Barry, taking center stage on January 22 at UFC Fight Night 23 against the dangerous Joey Beltran. Roufus and Barry were in the corner for Pettis and now "Showtime" and Roufus will be backing the New Orleans native as he looks to rebound after his loss to Mirko Filopovic. Roufus is excited to see a vastly improved Pat Barry, who he says has been working hard to diversify his tool box of skills. ...
Two more bouts have become official for the second installment of "UFC Fight for the Troops" event, which will take place at Fort Hood, Killeen, Tex. on Jan. 22. The headliner of the evening will put former title challenger Kenny Florian against top lightweight contender Evan Dunham. Serving as the co-main event is expected to be the fast-rising prospect in Matt Mitrione, whom was featured on the ultra-popular tenth season of "The Ultimate Fighter", as he takes on veteran Tim Hague. A multitude of bouts have been added to the stacked 11-bout fight card, and now today two-more have been officially confirmed by the promotion for the event. ...
An exciting heavyweight match up has been added to the new January 22nd show. Pat Barry, who currently holds a 2-2 record within the organization, is hoping to bounce back from a disappointing loss to former PRIDE champion, Mirko Cro Cop at ufc 115 last June, with a win over glorified heavyweight, Joey Beltran. Possibly two of the smallest men in the heavyweight division, with Barry standing at 5'11 and Beltran weighing in no more than 240 pounds or so (when in reality, he could very well drop to the light heavyweight division), don't judge a book by it's cover. While both these men in stature don't match up with the elite in the weight class, both pack a mean punch. ...
You probably didn't know who Malki Kawa was last Saturday. That is, until former client Matt Mitrione fired him both on national television and than reiterated the termination afterward in an interview with AOL's Ariel Helwani. CEO of First Round Management, Kawa represents fighters such as Thiago Alves, Jon Jones, and Dan Hornbuckle to name a few, however it was Matt Mitrione's statements post-UFC 119 that has given Malki the most attention in his career as a Sports Agent, which he either has Matt to thank or resent for, since it wasn't the most heartfelt things "Meat Head" has had to say. ...
This weeks installment of "Weekly Jab" brings you news on the new UFC light heavyweight champion, a former NFL football player and one of the most recognizable names in the sport. ...
Since heavyweight boxing champion “Lights Out” James Toney (0-0) signed to fight in the UFC, high profile heavyweights have stepped up to welcome Toney into the Octagon. Among those heavyweights are The Ultimate Fighter 10 champion “Big Country” Roy Nelson (15-4) and former UFC champion “The Natural” Randy Couture (18-10). But, that reminds me of a story my friend's dad - good ol' Paul Heck - told me years ago. He's a Vietnam veteran and told us how he enlisted to go to Vietnam. They'd ask incoming soldiers to rank the top three destinations they would like to be stationed. Seventeen-years old and seemingly invincible, Mr. Heck scribbled Vietnam atop his list. He wanted to fight! But, he didn't realize then that the military never sent soldiers to Vietnam if they listed Vietnam as their top choice. The military figured that if you wanted to go to Vietnam you either had a death wish or would be too reckless in battle. They wanted soldiers in Vietnam who wanted to come home alive. So, Mr. Heck was stationed in The Philippines and served honorably. ...
