I wasn’t lying when I said it earlier today… UFC 137 is quickly shaping up to be the can’t-miss MMA event of fall 2010. In addition to Georges St. Pierre vs. Nick Diaz, a whole host of interesting match-ups are being added to this card. And in a story that’s only just broken, it’s now been revealed that Sam Stout will be fighting Dennis Siver in a key Lightweight showdown at UFC 137. Here are all the details. ...
Without hyperbole, UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber” was one of the best MMA events I’ve seen in 2011, and perhaps even in the last few years. We had so many interesting fights, so many entertaining all-out wars, so many dramatic and unexpected finishes. Now once again it’s time to ask: what’s next? What does the future hold after Dominick Cruz beat the only man that ever defeated him, after Wanderlei Silva was destroyed by Chris Leben, after Tito Ortiz finally got another win in the Octagon? Here’s my answer to just that: a new edition of my “What’s Next for the Winners and Losers” series of articles, now featuring UFC 132. ...
UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber” is now in the history books, and what a history lesson it was. Without the benefit of a UFC mega-draw, headlined by a championship fight in a smaller weight division featuring a champion that was fighting in the UFC for the first time, UFC 132 was an event at odds with itself. But in true UFC fashion, this is an event that lived up to and far exceeded its perceived potential. Fans and friends, we’ve got a strong contender for “Event of the Year”, and UFC 132 may have beaten out the amazing UFC 129, which I said would be the benchmark for the rest of the year. Here are the full results as well as some early commentary for UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber”. ...
On July 2, 2011, the UFC will hold its highly-anticipated “UFC 132” event, featuring champion Dominick Cruz defending his UFC Bantamweight Championship against the only man he’s ever lost to, Urijah Faber. Also, MMA legend Wanderlei Silva returns from an extended absence and challenges tough, veteran brawler Chris Leben. Still, some fans may be asking themselves: what are the best reasons to check out this card? Here’s my answer to just that: 5 reasons to watch UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber”. ...
We’re now only a few days away from UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber”. In the main event, UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz makes his long-awaited UFC debut and takes on the only man to have ever beaten him: Urijah Faber. The co-main event will also be an interesting match-up, as legendary brawler Wanderlei Silva takes on Chris Leben, who has always been one of the best pure brawlers in the UFC’s Middleweight division. As is customary, here is my official “picks and predictions” post (covering who I think will win and why), now featuring UFC 132. ...

From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, Anthony Pettis left the WEC as the final WEC Lightweight Champion and entered the UFC only to promptly lose his debut. But “Showtime” is still a very entertaining fighter and a very interesting addition to an increasingly-crowded Lightweight division. There’s a lot of good opponents for Anthony Pettis in the UFC, and to prove that, here are my personal picks for the five fighters Anthony Pettis should face next. ...
As they should rightfully be, all eyes are currently on ufc 128, which takes place tonight on Facebook, Spike TV, and then Pay-Per-View. After that comes UFC 129 in front of over 55,000 fans. But the UFC is always looking to the future, it’s one of the key ingredients of their success. And the UFC recently announced three marquee match-ups for their UFC 132 event, featuring a colossal rematch between BJ Penn and Jon Fitch. Here are all the details. ...
It’s that time once again, fans and friends. Another major MMA event has come and gone, and it’s time for my unofficial “Best Performance of the Night” award. It was pretty difficult to pick a winner for UFC 127: “Penn vs. Fitch”, considering how many unexpected occurrences ended up happening and how close and exciting many of the fights were. But in the end, I chose the man who gave us the unlikeliest outcome of all, the man who stopped a huge hype train dead in its tracks and emerged as a bonafide, breakout Lightweight star: Dennis Siver. Here’s why Siver’s victory over George Sotiropoulos earned him my “Best Performance of the Night” award. ...
UFC 127 was a pretty solid night of fights, especially for an international event. The Australian fans at the Acer Arena were treated to several entertaining brawls, some great KO’s, and just a very competitive night in general. But which stars shined brightest, and what moments will fans be talking about in the following weeks? Here’s my take on the matter: my top 5 best moments of UFC 127: “Penn vs. Fitch”. ...
UFC 127 was a solid but not a great card. The second ever UFC event in Australia brought out the best of Michael Bisping against an aging opponent, revealed the unique skills of a UFC newcomer, and provided a main event that featured surprising tactics by "The Prodigy" BJ Penn. Click through for detailed notes on UFC 127. ...
When UFC 127 “Penn vs. Fitch” airs live tomorrow, it will be the culmination of much hard work by all involved. Many of the fighters find themselves in can’t-lose situations, from BJ Penn to Jorge Rivera, from Jon Fitch to George Sotiropoulos. I’ve covered this event a whole lot, and now it’s time for my final say. This is another edition of “Finally Final Thoughts”, covering my final musings on what I hope will be one of the best cards of 2011. ...
Hello once more fans and friends and welcome back to the second edition of today’s entry into my “5 Reasons Why” series. For the first part, detailing my five reasons why I think Dennis Siver could beat George Sotiropoulos, please click here. Now it’s time for the reverse: here are the five reasons why I think George Sotiropoulos could beat Dennis Siver. ...
Throughout the week I’ve exhaustively covered the upcoming UFC 127 “Penn vs. Fitch” event, and there’s one simple reason for that: I think this is going to be one of the best MMA events of the year. Every single one of the main PPV fights have a lot of potential, and the UFC is making many preliminary fights available for free. And one of Australia’s own will be in action at UFC 127, a rising star that could become the next big threat at Lightweight. It’s George Sotiropoulos, and this is a new edition of “5 Reasons Why”, featuring his upcoming fight at UFC 127 with Dennis Siver. First up, we have five reasons why Dennis Siver could beat George Sotiropoulos. The reverse is soon to follow, so let’s dive right in. ...
For George Sotiropoulos, this has been a long time coming for the Aussie. Quietly making his way up the lightweight ranks, "The Ultimate Fighter" season six veteran has racked up an impressive 7-fight win streak inside the ufc, and remains undefeated inside the octagon. In fact, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt's lone career losses have come to the hands of Kyle Noke (at middleweight) by split-decision. He later avenged that loss and his only other blemish stems from a controversial disqualification defeat at the hands of perennial top-10 fighter Shinya Aoki in 2006. With another potential win in grasp, UFC President Dana White deems Sotiropoulos worthy of a title shot. ...
By John Moody MMA fans are in hog heaven over the next three weeks with two UFC events and another major Strikforce show. There are numerous fights across all the cards which should dazzle, but I have targeted three, in particular, which will impact the sport at large to a greater scale. They may not be what you expect ... give a look! ...
From the moment its main event was first announced, fans around the world started buzzing about ufc 127. This will mark the second time the UFC has visited the Land Down Under, as the event is scheduled for February 27 at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. Jon Fitch and BJ Penn clash in the main event in a key welterweight showdown that has serious title implications. The official and complete card was recently announced, so here are all the details. ...
Another match up has been announced for the Australia card this February. Aussie native George Sotiropoulos will take on budding contender Dennis Siver in his next match up. The news comes following UFC 123's festivities, where George was victorious in a match up of his own, against fan-favorite Joe Lauzon. The two had battled it out strong for as long as the fight lasted, with the first round in particular being particularly competitive. Lauzon answered strong with effective striking and grappling, arguably taking the first round on the judges score cards. But no matter, because Sotiropoulos didn't allow the lightweight affair to reach the judges decision, and instead finished off "The Ultimate Fighter" veteran in the second round with a kimura, submitting at about the half way point of the bout. ...

Egan TKO’d Jonny Shiels (4-3) in the second round in September.

"For all you Rampage haters, you might as well get used to me," Fighters.com's Light Heavyweight Champion "Rampage" Quinton Jackson (28-6) announced to the crowd at the UFC 86 weigh-ins in Las Vegas Friday. "I'ma be here for a long time," he added, then flashed the peace sign. Rampage weighed in at 205-pounds, as did eighth-ranked title challenger Forrest Griffin (15-4). Xtreme Couture's Griffin said, "It's nice to fight in your hometown. Thank you, guys." Griffin smirked in the gaze of an intense Rampage stare down. All fighters on Saturday night's card made weight. Only lightweight Gleison Tibau (15-5) missed the mark, but by the allowed one pound at 156-pounds. Tibau will fight "Daddy" Joe Stevenson (33-8). 6'4" lightweight Corey Hill (2-0) looked absolutely emaciated at 155-pounds. ...
