It took one day, one single day, for the upcoming ufc 136 card to go from a few matches to nearly complete. Yesterday, a grand total of six fights were all announced throughout the day for the upcoming event, with several major can’t-miss attractions scheduled for the card. It was news so huge that I’m going to have to break it up into two parts. So here’s the first part of “A First Look At UFC 136”, featuring the first three recently-announced bouts: Dave Herman vs. Mike Russow, Josh Grispi vs. Matt Grice, and Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago. ...
A new middleweight match up has been added to an upcoming June event, which will be taking place under the UFC banner. The winner of said bout will be making a strong case for himself to challenge for the promotion's middleweight crown, as Demian Maia and Mark Munoz will now be meeting inside the octagon. The June event in question, UFC 131, which takes place in Vancouver, Canada at the Rogers Arena on June 11. The main-event of the pay-per-view will pit former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar against top contender Junior dos Santos, and with that much generated interested on said bout, both Maia and Munoz will be in an unenviable position to be viewed by millions of fans world wide. ...
Demain Maia, a proud Brazilian with one of the best English-diction's the UFC has to offer, would like to return to his native country to compete no less in the organization's return to Brazil. The worlds largest mixed martial arts promotion recently held a press conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in order to announce it's intentions on returning to the tropical country for the first time since October 1998. Many native Brazilian fighters have already expressed their desires to compete on the card, ranging from champions Anderson Silva and Mauricio Rua, to top contenders Thiago Alves and now Demian Maia is among them. ...
Brian Stann is a UFC veteran, a former WEC Light Heavyweight Champion, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. And at UFC 125 “Resolution”, he finally emerged as a legitimate threat in the UFC’s Middleweight division, beating back the always-dangerous Chris Leben and putting an end to what was arguably the best win-streak of Leben’s career. Moving forward, Stann could emerge as a legitimate championship contender by the time 2011 is through, so long as he faces the right opponents. And who should those opponents be? Here’s a Top 5 with just that in mind. ...
Another season of the popular UFC reality TV show “The Ultimate Fighter” has come and gone, another live special that traditionally ends the competition is once more in the history books. The UFC recently held its “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale” event from the Pearl at the Palms in the UFC’s home base of Las Vegas, Nevada, and the traditional post-fight award bonuses as well as the attendance and live gate figures have been released. ...
Twelve seasons of the popular UFC reality TV show “The Ultimate Fighter” have now aired, twelve “Ultimate Finale” live events have come and gone. Last night was the latest “Ultimate Finale” event, and it certainly caused its fair share of controversy. In the main event, Jonathan Brookins defeated Michael Johnson to become the TUF 12 champion. But what does his future hold, and for that matter, the futures of all the men who competed at “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale”? Here are my thoughts. ...
The live finale event to the twelfth season of the popular UFC reality TV show “The Ultimate Fighter” is now a thing of the past. A new champion has been crowned, and several stars looked great in their main-card attractions. Stephan Bonner surprised most of the viewing public by using his grappling and wrestling to outmaneuver and ultimately outpoint Igor Pokrajac, while Jonathan Brookins survived some big punches courtesy of Michael Johnson throughout their three-round war of attrition to ultimately emerge as the TUF 12 champion. Here are the full results to “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale”. ...
I feel great. I hope I'm ready, because there's no more time (left). Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Demian Maia looks for his third win in his last four fights when he takes on "The Ultimate Fighter" season three winner, Kendall Grove. Maia was last in action when he competed against the always tough Mario Miranda, who stands as only the second man to third man to go the distance with Demian inside the UFC. At the culmination of their August middleweight bout, Maia walked away with a clear-cut decision victory. Now, heading into his match up with the Hawaiian Grove, Demain switched things up a bit in the last week leading up to the fight in hopes to gain a competitive edge in this pivotal 185-pound fight. ...
Heading into tomorrow's night of fights, which will be challenged by Strikeforce who will hold a show in St. Louis simultaneously with the UFC, all fighters weighed in for "The Ultimate Fighter" season twelve finale show. All but one fighter, WEC veteran Nick Pace, were successful in making weight on their first attempts. Pace was eventually deducted twenty-percent of his purse when he was unable to lose the additional 3 pounds which was required to reach the 136-pound limit of the bantamweight division. ...
Hello once more fans and friends and welcome to another edition of “Picks and Predictions”, where I pull out my crystal ball and unleash my inner Nostradamus on an upcoming high-profile MMA card. This latest edition officially ends my special “TUF 12 Bonanza” series of articles. Today’s event is the twelfth edition of the “Ultimate Finale” series of events that’s used to definitively end a season of “The Ultimate Fighter” with a great, live night of fights that sees a TUF Champion crowned. So let’s get right to it. ...
Michael Bisping always seems to get himself a big win right when he needs it the most. He rebounded from a loss to Rashad Evans by dropping down to Middleweight and winning three straight fights. He rebounded from the first KO loss of his career by TKO’ing former PRIDE FC star Denis Kang. And he’s now rebounded from a tough loss to Wanderlei Silva with two tough wins over Dan Miller and Yoshihiro Akiyama. So what’s next for the brash British bad-boy? Here are my top 5 opponents for Michael Bisping. ...
Heading into his ufc debut against "The Ultimate Fighter" alumnus in Gerald Harris last March, Mario Miranda was pegged as being the next big thing in the middleweight division. After all, at 6'4, undefeated as a professional with a perfect 10-0 record, and with only two decisions to his name, it was easy to see why this Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt was sought after by the worlds largest organization. However, after a disappointing knockout loss to Gerald Harris and an additional loss to grappling ace Demian Maia at UFC 118, with a win over former UFC title challenger David Loiseau sandwiched in between, it looked like the Brazilian's career inside the octagon would be short lived. ...
You heard it from Kendall Grove himself. According to the middleweight and season 3 winner of "The Ultimate Fighter", Grove will be returning where it all began for the 6'6 Hawaiian over 4 years ago when he meets Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace Demian Maia on December 4, for the culmination of the 12th season of "The Ultimate Fighter" for the TUF finale show. ...
Former Middleweight title challenger Demian Maia is looking for some clarity. Maia was last seen in action over the weekend when he out-pointed fellow Brazilian, Mario Miranda en route to a unanimous decision win, at UFC 118. Maia, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom who was coming off of a bizarre loss to Anderson Silva in Abu Dhabi last April, nearly submitted the fellow BJJ Black Belt on several occasions, often times favoring an elusive arm bar that Maia found open on several occasions, but was never able to secure the maneuver. ...
Well, that sure was surprising wasn’t it? UFC 118 was filled with awesome fights, big winners, and big losers. From Nate Diaz choking out Marcus Davis to James Toney getting choked out by Randy Couture, UFC 118 lived up to just about all of its potential. Looking forward, here’s what I think is next for some of the big winners, and even some of the big losers, of UFC 118: “Edgar vs. Penn 2”. ...
Former UFC light heavyweight champion and current middleweight contender Vitor Belfort will be returning to action in November, but against who--who knows. UFC Fight Night 22, which will air live in SpikeTV on September 25th, and the Pay-Per-View event UFC 118, held on August 28, will experience a bit of a shake up. Middleweight contender Alan Belcher reported via Twitter, that a detached retina will prevent him from competing opposite of Demian Maia, a match that "The Talent" had been campaigning for since his victory over former title challenger Patrick Cote. ...

Today as Silva was defending his title against sixth-ranked Demian Maia (12-2) at UFC 112 Dana walked out of the fight. If you have yet to watch the fights then do not read any further. ...
As the UFC prepares to make history with their very first outdoor event concerns are starting to rise. This event takes place in Saturday on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Obviously since this is out side weather is a concern but what about the unknowns of holding an event in a foreign land that is predominantly Muslim? ...
This Saturday Fighters.com sixth-ranked middleweight Demian Maia (11-1) will step inside the Octagon to do battle against Fighters.com and UFC middleweight champion "The Spider" Anderson Silva (25-4). This will not be the walk in the park for Silva most seem to believe. ...
The card for UFC 112 has been bit by the injury bug this week. It was announced by the UFC that Fighters.com eighth-ranked "The Phenom" Vitor Belfort ( 18-8) had to pull out of his title fight with UFC middleweight champion “Spider” Anderson Silva (25-4)in Abu Dhabi. ...
UFC 109 took place last night and was an event I did a few articles on here. I wanted to take the time to eat some crow and give my thoughts on the event. First let me start by saying I was 100% wrong about Chael Sonnen (24-20-1). He dominated Fighters.com fourth-ranked “Great” Nate Marquardt (29-9-2). This is the first time we saw Nate unable to do anything for 14 minutes. He looked a bit lost off his back and other than two guillotine attempts he had nothing to offer in the way of submission offense. Congratulations to Chael for proving me wrong. ...
I thought I would sit down and make my picks for UFC 109 today. We usually make picks on MMA Gospel Radio and we made a few with The Fight Pastor however I have had more time to think and these are my official picks, enjoy. ...
The winner of the co-main event fight that pits "Great" Nate Marquardt (29-8-2) against Chael Sonnen (23-20-1) at UFC 109 will get a title shot according to UFC President Dana White. While I believe Nate deserves a shot at the title I shiver at the thought of Sonnen getting a title shot. ...
"I think [Vitor Belfort] is a great fighter," Fighters.com's fourth-ranked middleweight “Great” Nate Marquardt (29-8-2) told MMA Weekly Radio recently. "I don’t necessarily agree with him getting a shot or whatever, just because he really hasn’t fought at 85," he added. ...
Strikeforce middleweight "Jacare" Ronaldo Souza (9-2) climbed a rung to to number eight in December with a first-round submission of “The Law” Matt Lindland (21-7) at Evolution in San Jose December 19. ...
Fighters.com’s second-ranked middleweight Jake Shields (23-4-1) cemented his status as top contender to Fighters.com and UFC Middleweight Champion “Spider” Anderson Silva's (25-4) titles and picked up the Strikeforce strap himself in a five-round unanimous decision over former top ten and nails-tough “Mayhem” Jason Miller (22-7) at Strikeforce in Chicago November 7. ...
Fighters.com and UFC Middleweight Champion “Spider” Anderson Silva (25-4) will defend his titles from unranked “Phenom” Vitor Belfort (18-8) at UFC 108 in Las Vegas January 2. ...
American middleweight “Great” Nate Marquardt (28-8-2) countered a Demian Maia (10-0) high kick with a straight right leaving the Brazilian Maia knocked out in 21 seconds at UFC 102 in Portland Saturday night.
"He telegraphed his kicks pretty far out there. I could see them comin'," Marquardt explained after the fight. "I can't plan on knockin' someone out like that. I got to be happy with that win."
Marquardt theorized the BJJ wiz, Maia, was trying to sucker him into the ground game.
...
"Hollywood" Dan Henderson (25-7) will get the next crack at UFC middleweight champion "Spyder" Anderson Silva (24-4) at 185-pounds, UFC President Dana White announced Friday afternoon. "Dan Henderson is definitely next in line to fight for Anderson Silva's title," said White. Silva has a 205-pound appointment with former UFC light heavyweight champ Forrest Griffin (16-5) at UFC 101 in Philadelphia 8 August. White indicated the 185-pound title fighter versus Hendo' will take place "as soon as possible...depending on how banged up he gets." ...
