It took one day, one single day, for the upcoming ufc 136 card to go from a few matches to nearly complete. Yesterday, a grand total of six fights were all announced throughout the day for the upcoming event, with several major can’t-miss attractions scheduled for the card. It was news so huge that I’m going to have to break it up into two parts. So here’s the first part of “A First Look At UFC 136”, featuring the first three recently-announced bouts: Dave Herman vs. Mike Russow, Josh Grispi vs. Matt Grice, and Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago.

We head first to MMAFighting for confirmation that UFC 136 will feature Grispi/Grice and Herman/Russow.

Up next is a report at MMA Weekly that states that UFC 136 will also host an encounter between Demian Maia and Jorge Santiago.

Dave Herman recently made his UFC debut against Jon Olav Einemo at UFC 131. Herman was a late replacement for Shane Carwin, who was Einemo’s original opponent. After enduring some heavy shots, Herman would end up rallying and TKO’ing his opponent in a “Fight of the Night” performance.

Mike Russow is currently 14-1 and riding high on a three-fight win-streak inside the Octagon. Russow’s biggest moment came when he KO’d Todd Duffee in an incredible third-round comeback that won him “Knockout of the Night”. Most recently, Russow earned a doctor stoppage win over John Madsen.

Once regarded as the last great threat to current UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo, former WEC veteran Josh Grispi has yet to taste victory inside of the Octagon. Grispi entered the UFC 14-1 and with a flawless 4-0 record in the WEC, but has lost back-to-back fights in the UFC.

Matt Grice, meanwhile, is fighting in the UFC for the second time after getting released in 2009 after going 1-3 inside the Octagon. Grice earned another shot inside the Octagon by chaining together four straight wins outside of it, with three stoppages. However, Grice lost his recent UFC re-debut by first-round TKO.

When he first debuted inside the Octagon and started submitting people left and right, Demian Maia was hyped as a Royce Gracie for the modern generation. After his initial run of submission wins, Maia would go 3-3 in his next six, with deflating losses to Anderson Silva and Nate Marquardt. Most recently, Maia lost a Unanimous Decision to Mark Munoz. Maia’s recent fights have seen him display improving stand-up, which is likely why he’s still able to win some fights even though he hasn’t submitted anybody in two years.

At UFC 130, Jorge Santiago re-entered the UFC with a considerable amount of hype after going on a great run in Japan. Santiago was immediately matched up against Brian Stann, and unfortunately for Santiago, Stann would put on a striking clinic before TKO’ing Santiago in Round 2.

Although these fights will probably take place near the start of the show or even on the undercard, I like them. I think this is more smart booking by the UFC, and if you take an “it is what it is” outlook on these fights, they should be pretty enjoyable. Yes, they’re not the best fighters, but they should be entertaining fights nonetheless.

I’m interested to see what Dave Herman does now that he’s got some hype around him. I’m also interested to see if Mike Russow can continue to try and emerge out of the shadow of his KO win over Duffee.

I think it’s “do or die” time for Josh Grispi, and that if he doesn’t win this fight he’s definitely going to be cut. I think you could make an argument for cutting Grice if he loses this fight as well.

Santiago/Maia has a lot on the line too. I really think this is Maia’s last chance to get back some of that hype he had way back when, because if he doesn’t win this fight he’s probably going to fade off into the background and never return to the spotlight. Santiago needs a win badly too, since he came into the UFC with so much hype.

Overall, UFC 136 looks to be an amazing event. And it gets even better with Part 2.

Dave Herman burst onto the scene at ufc 131 with his thrilling come-from-behind victory over Jon Olav Einemo. The win extended Herman’s current win-streak to three straight fights, and the bout was so entertaining that both men were awarded a “Fight of the Night” award and bonus. Recently, however, Herman gave a rather bizarre interview where he said that he believes Jiu-Jitsu is boring and doesn’t work in MMA. Here are all the details.

Herman recently appeared on The MMA Hour, and here are the highlights of what he said: “If you have any knowledge at all of jiu-jitsu, it’s just not going to work… It’s kind of like trickery, basically. If you have any idea about any of the tricks, it’s just not going to work… Maybe I should re-phrase it and just say, jiu-jitsu doesn’t work on me. As a wrestler I’m going to have to stick with wrestling as the best [foundation], but I really think jiu-jitsu isn’t that great, and even from a spectator standpoint, it’s not that fun to watch.”

Strong words, but does Herman have a point? Already some fans are defending Herman’s stance and saying that by beating Einemo, a highly-regarded submission specialist, Herman proved his assertion before he even made it. It’s also interesting to note that Dave Herman has never been submitted, but has submitted five people.

However, I think Herman’s supporters are forgetting that Jon Olav Einemo hadn’t fought in MMA since 2006, and MMA is a far different sport from submission grappling.

I don’t mean this to discredit the awards Einemo has won in submission competitions, I know he’s highly distinguished in that regard. But MMA is a sport where “ring rust” can seriously hurt you if you take a year off, and Einemo took four years off.

Another interesting thing to note is that Einemo’s MMA record is a bit deceiving. He’s technically won six times with five submissions, but two of those submissions have been “submission due to strikes”. So, when you consider that, Einemo is basically dead even with the amount of wins he has by strikes and submissions.

I bring that point up to say this: let’s see what Herman has to say about jiu-jitsu not working when he faces someone like Frank Mir, who has eight of his fifteen wins by submission. Or maybe someone like Fabricio Werdum, who has eight of his fourteen wins by submission. Or, and this is the big one: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, who has won thirty-two times and submitted twenty opponents. And just to make it clear: all three of those fighters have all of their submissions by actual submission holds, and not “submission due to strikes”.

My point is this: Dave Herman proved a lot at UFC 131. He beat a formidable opponent, one who had him in major danger and nearly stopped him. With smart wrestling, a big heart, and some good punching power, Herman was able to turn the tide and secure the stoppage victory. But I would hate to think that this win was giving Herman a big head, and that’s exactly what this interview seems to be pointing to.

You can’t beat one experienced Jiu-Jitsu fighter and just make a blanket statement that Jiu-Jitsu doesn’t work in MMA, and saying it doesn’t work on you specifically just paints a bullseye on your back. If Dave Herman was on Frank Mir’s level right now, I can fully imagine Frank Mir begging to get a chance to fight Herman, just to get a chance to take an arm or a leg home with him.

In the end, I’ll say this: I like what Dave Herman did in the cage at UFC 131, but I think this interview is just asking for trouble. This is just like a guy saying no one can knock him out, or no one can take him down. Sooner or later, someone is going to put you in your place. There’s always someone out there better than you, and any given day could be the day where you get embarrassed. No chin is unbreakable, no wrestler is impervious to submissions. Everyone lives inside of a glass house. And if you start throwing stones inside that house, eventually it’s going to fall on you.

For all intents and purposes, ufc 131 “Dos Santos vs. Carwin” was a better event than UFC 130 “Rampage vs. Hamill”. In terms of pure quality, it had a better prelims special, a more talked-about main event, more dramatic finishes, and a main event that lived up to most of its hype, whereas the main event of UFC 130 lived up to its “anti-hype”. But in terms of the almighty dollar and the almost-as-mighty TV rating, how successful was UFC 131? Here are the post-fight award bonuses, live attendance, gate receipts, and “UFC Prelims LIVE” ratings for UFC 131 “Dos Santos vs. Carwin”.

First up, let’s head to MMA Junkie for news on how many fans packed into the arena to see UFC 131, and how much they spent throughout the night. According to MMAJ’s report, UFC 131 saw an attendance of 14,685 and live gate receipts to the tune of approximately 2.8 million dollars. It should be noted that this was smack dab in the middle of the Vancouver Canucks playing in the Stanley Cup Finals. It was generally assumed that since hockey is nearly a way of life in Canada, the attendance and live gate of UFC 131 would suffer. Unfortunately, this did end up being the case: according to MMA Junkie, this is the least-attended, least-successful UFC card in Canada since the UFC started going to Canada.

Next up is the one and only Sherdog with a report on the traditional post-fight award bonuses. All four of these men took home a cool $70,000 dollars for their spirited performances. Sam Stout was the obvious pick for “Knockout of the Night” after his heinous KO’ing of Yves Edwards, and he did end up taking the award. For his first-round submission win due to a Standing Guillotine, newcomer Chris Weidman was awarded “Submission of the Night”. For their back-and-forth brawl that saw both men land major punches and stagger their opponent, both Jon Olav Einemo and Dave Herman were awarded “Fight of the Night”.

And finally, let’s go back to Sherdog for a report on how the Spike TV presentation of “UFC Prelims LIVE” fared. According to them, the special one-hour broadcast that featured both Chris Weidman and Sam Stout in their award-winning performances averaged 1.6 million viewers.

Although no official reference was given, by my own research the UFC 131 “Prelims LIVE” special pulled in a pretty good rating for that type of special. Which is a great thing, in my opinion. I’ll always advocate these preliminary bouts, the “anything can happen” atmosphere of major/important UFC shows always seems to carry over, at least in part, to the preliminary fights. To date, we’ve seen multiple preliminary fighters take home “Knockout of the Night”, “Submission of the Night”, and even “Fight of the Night”. It’s a breeding ground for sleeper hits, and that’s about as positive of a compliment as I could give. Whether it’s through Facebook, Spike TV, or even ION Television, I wish this series nothing but the best.

I realize that the whole hockey thing affected UFC 131’s bottom line, but I don’t think it’s the end of the world. I think it was a bit funny that UFC President Dana White had to eat a bit of crow and admit that hockey was a sport held in absolute reverence by the Canadians, this after saying that he thought MMA was bigger than hockey. But it is what it is, and unlike most people, I usually don’t fault Dana White for being the promoter that he is. At the end of the day, it’s an event that drew close to 15,000 people and made close to three million dollars. That may be “only decent” by the UFC’s standards, at least for Canada, but that still blows everyone else out of the water. It’s even better than most of the UFC’s outings in America.

All in all, I think UFC 131 was a successful event both in terms of fight quality and the bottom line.

Hello once more fans and friends and welcome to another new edition of “Best of the Rest”! I really enjoy taking the time to give my detailed thoughts on a show after watching it, but after the serious discussion and debate I’ll raise in topics like “Top 5 Best Moments” and “Best Performance of the Night”, I think it’d be nice to have a tongue-in-cheek topic where I give out some other “awards”. It’s all in good fun, so don’t take any of it too seriously. So let’s dive right into this latest edition, now featuring UFC 131 “Dos Santos vs. Carwin”.

The Cecil Peoples Lifetime Achievement Award For The Greatest Display Of Utter Blindness And Ineptitude I’ve Ever Seen: The judge that awarded Darren Elkins a 30-27 victory over Michihiro Omigawa. I mean this without hyperbole: this was a travesty of justice, something so horrendous that many fans have voiced concern that either the judging in MMA is broken beyond repair or that this fight was fixed. There is simply no way Darren Elkins won this fight, and to give him a 30-27 is the highest of insults. There may have been bigger robberies… I just personally haven’t seen any of them. I’m not going to forget the way this fight made me feel for a long, long time.

The Best in the Business Award: Herb Dean, who I’ve been a fan of for a long time. Many people think Dean is the best referee in the UFC right now, at UFC 131 he made a serious case for being perhaps the best referee in the history of MMA. Herb Dean thought Shane Carwin could continue, and he could. Herb Dean had to restart a fight on the ground with both men arguing over what position they were in, and not only did Dean know the position, he even knew its technical name. If the judging in MMA could be even half as good as the job Herb Dean does just about every time he referees a fight, we’d basically never have a robbery again.

The “Too Close for Comfort” Award: Yves Edwards, for having me legitimately fear for his well-being after seeing him get knocked out so viciously. I’m not sure if I gave this award to Takeya Mizugaki after he fought Urijah Faber, but that fight had the same feeling: until it was announced that the loser was o.k., I couldn’t enjoy the moment. I couldn’t think “wow, what an awesome finish!” All I thought was “wow, that looked really bad and I really hope he’s not hurt.” In a world where the vicious KO is praised above almost all else, seeing Yves’ legs twitch while he was in the “fighter’s crucifix” position came too close to passing my comfort zone. Hence the name “too close for comfort”.

The Scott Smith Award For Most Inspiring Comeback After Getting Your *** Kicked: Dave Herman, for battling back from the brink and taking out Jon Olav Einemo. Herman was stumbling and fumbling all over himself thanks to some choice shots landed by his opponent, but he eventually gave as good as he got and ended up TKO’ing Einemo. It was a comeback that looked pretty improbable until it actually happened, so it definitely deserves a spot on this list.

So that’s what I think, fans and friends. And remember, it’s all in good fun… mostly.

UFC 131 has seen some major changes happen in just the last couple of days.

Originally, Brock Lesnar, the former UFC heavyweight champion, was to headline the event opposite of Junior dos Santos. The two fighters served as the coaches for this current season of “The Ultimate Fighter”. The bout was to help eliminate the next title challenger, though Lesnar is in a midst of a battle of his own with diverticulitis, an intestinal disease.

Now, Shane Carwin has since stepped up in Lesnar’s place to meet with Dos Santos in the headliner and his original opponent Jon Olav Einemo, whom was temporarily left wondering his longevity on the card, has now been afforded the opportunity to remain active. Dave Herman, a longtime prospect in the heavyweight division will now be meeting Olav in place of Carwin.

Einemo, a veteran of the PRIDE organization, is looking to make an impression upon his return to the sport. For the ADCC Submission world champion, Einemo has not stepped foot inside a ring or a cage since November of 2006 when he submitted journeyman James Thompson with a first-round armbar.

His lone blemish on his career is a decision loss to current top-3 heavyweight fighter Fabricio Werdum under the PRIDE banner, though the bigger story here may be Einemo’s inactivity from the sport. Surprisingly enough, the UFC signed the Golden Glory product earlier this year and originally pitted him against former UFC interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin at the June event. However, now that Shane has received a “higher calling”, Dave Herman will now be stepping up to take on Olav.

Herman was originally set to meet with veteran Joey Beltran on the same card, though the UFC shuffled the deck since the Lesnar-epidemic occurred. In his last outing, Dave defeated Japanese legend Yoshihiro “Kiss” Nakao under the Sengoku banner, dominating him from start to finish en route to a decision win. Dave has won five of last six bouts with his lone blemish being a disqualification loss at the hands of UFC vet Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou in May of last year in the quarter-finals of an openweight grand prix.

Both Herman and Olav are set to meet at UFC 131, which takes place at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada on June 11th. It’s unknown at this time whether or not the bout will remain on the televised portion of the card.

A longtime prospect in the heavyweight division, Dave Herman will finally be entering the octagon.

A former EliteXC and Sengoku star, Herman has amassed a 20-2 record since his inception into the world of mixed martial arts in 2006 and has already defeated a bevy of notable fighters.

And while there will surely be a lot of hype surrounding the heavyweight standout, Joey Beltran will be there to greet him—and for those who are familiar with “The Mexecutioner” know that he is no pushover, especially when his back is up against the wall.

UFC officials had announced the validity of the bout earlier today, which is scheduled for UFC 131. The pay-per-view event will feature a heavyweight main-event pitting current “The Ultimate Fighter” coaches Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos against one another inside the octagon. The event takes place on June 11 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver.

Herman is currently riding a two-fight win streak heading into his bout with Beltran, though his lone loss in his last six fights came via disqualification when the heavyweight standout squared off with UFC veteran Thierry Sokoudjou in an open-weight tournament held in Abu Dhabi, which resulted due to illegal knees.

His lone legitimate defeat in competition came when Herman faced off against Korea’s own Choi Mu Bae under the Sengoku banner, where he was TKO’d in a sluggish performance in January of 2009.

Despite the floundering outing against Bae, Herman has looked every bit the prodigy of the heavyweight class, posessing something more than others–an agility and athleticism that is rarely seen amongst the big men, and standing at 6’5 and weighing upwards of 250-pounds at times, he stands to be a force.

However, Joey Beltran will hope to derail the hype train surrounding Herman by notching a victory of his own, which he so desperately needs. Joey is currently riding a two-fight losing streak inside the octagon, though the losses have come to notable stars such as Matt Mitrione and Pat Barry. Both strikers are known for finishing their opponents decisively, however Beltran hung tough with both men over the course of three rounds, and took both men to a decision, though they did not sway in his favor.

Prior to the losses, Beltran has amassed a two-fight win streak of his own inside the octagon with wins over Rolles Gracie in his UFC debut (which he took on short notice) and a decision victory over Tim Hague.

So, MMA peeps, what do you think of the match-up? Who do you favor? And are you familiar with Herman? Sound off in the comment section below.

One of the best heavyweight prospects in the last couple of years, will finally be making his transition to “the big show”, as Dave Herman has now been signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The Sengoku veteran made his inception into the mixed martial arts world in December of 2006, and has failed to disappoint. Currently holding a 20-2 record in his four-plus-years in the game, Herman holds notable victories over the likes of UFC veterans Don Frye, Kerry Schall, Ron Waterman and most recently recorded a decision win over former PRIDE star Yoshihiro “Kiss” Nakao.

Now Dave, who has won five of his last six bouts, will be making his organizational debut come this June against England’s own Robert Broughton at UFC 131.

MMAWeekly.com initially reported the signing of Herman and the subsequent bout with Broughton, which is anticipated to be taking place at the UFC 131 pay-per-view event on June 11th in Vancouver, Canada at the Rogers Arena. The headliner is rumored to pit former champion Brock Lesnar as he takes on top contender Junior dos Santos in a title eliminator.

Broughton made his octagon debut last October when he defeated Brazilian Vinicius Queiroz with a fight ending rear-naked choke in the third round of their heavyweight tilt at UFC 120 in his native England. The win helped extend a five-fight win streak for the Wolfslair MMA Academy product. During the streak, Rob participated in a one-night eight-man heavyweight tournament, where he finished two of his opponents en route to the final where he recorded a dominant decision win over countryman Oli Thompson in the finals.

So, MMA peeps, those who are familiar with the Herman know that he goes inside the cage to finish fights. Among his 20 career wins, only one of them have gone to a decision, where the rest were either finished by knockout or decision. Broughton is as game as they come and will produce a good war with “Pee-Wee” welcoming him into the UFC. Who do you think takes this bout? Sound off in the comment section below.

Duke Roufus, leader of Team-RoufusSport, received a monster shot of adrenaline last month when his then rising star, Anthony Pettis, exploded into orbit with his Matrix wall climb head kick in his win over Ben Henderson. Now, Roufus looks to transfer that mojo to his number two prospect, Pat Barry, taking center stage on January 22 at UFC Fight Night 23 against the dangerous Joey Beltran. Roufus and Barry were in the corner for Pettis and now “Showtime” and Roufus will be backing the New Orleans native as he looks to rebound after his loss to Mirko Filopovic. Roufus is excited to see a vastly improved Pat Barry, who he says has been working hard to diversify his tool box of skills.

“One thing, I am really proud of Pat, he is out there wrestling his ass off. Training grappling, Jiu Jitsu, he has been doing tournaments between fights. He actually has gotten so much better at wrestling. I am very proud.”

Roufus also knows his heavyweight will never again be daunted fighting a bigger man since Barry was a principle training partner for Brock Lesnar ahead of his fight with Cain Velasquez. Coach Roufus, however, is not looking back but ahead to fight a man he has lots of respect for in Joey Beltran.

“He’s excited for this fight. I like the fight a lot. I think he is really spunky, tough fighter. He is definitely going to want to stand and trade with Pat, which can make for a fun fight.”

Beltran vs. Barry could be Fight Of The Night material if each man stays standing for more than one round. Beltran, who has 9 TKO stops in his 12 career wins, clearly likes to bang and may not give Barry a chance to deploy his newly practiced ground game. And that would be fine with Barry who originated as a K1 striker as has kicked his way to a promising career.

Roufus is on a roll with Pettis, Barry, Daniel “Danny Boy” Downes, Eric Koch, and Matt Mitrione (also fighting on Jan. 22) in his Milwaukee camp. And, he is finding one common thread in all his guys.

“I think one of the biggest factors in MMA right now is the athleticism. You have to train athletically as well as be good at fighting. That’s when everything changed in MMA.”

While his core guys are all known entities for MMA fans, Roufus touts one lesser known fighter in his camp who represents this new reality in high-level MMA.

“I am training another guy right now who is training with Pat Barry … Dave “Pee Wee” Herman. Dave Herman wrestled at Indiana, heavyweight, he fought in Elite XC, this guy is an off the wall crazy athlete, so is Pat Barry. That is the X factor in this sports, the athleticism.”

Pettis, Herman, Downes, Koch all represent MMA 2.0 if not 3.0. Next up for Roufus are Barry and Mitrione on Jan. 22 and it will be interesting to see if the wave of good times keeps rolling for the boys from Milwaukee.

Chime in folks. Predictions for Barry v. Beltran. Somebody is getting knocked in this one??

Shark Fights, a well respected regional promotion, is upping-the-ante as they now intend on making “Shark Fights 13″ main card, a pay-per-view affair.

Anchored by notables Trevor Prangley, a Strikeforce middleweight standout who also serves as Shark Fights’ light heavyweight champion, will face UFC veteran and MMA notable Keith Jardine in a 205-pound match that will be contested as a non-title, three round affair.

The rest of the card is littered with other UFC notables such as additional light heavyweights Houston Alexander taking on the “African Assassin” Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.

Also confirmed for the broadcast is UFC castoff, Paul Daley against an as of yet announced opponent, a middleweight slug fest against Drew McFedries and Joey Villasenor.

The main card is said to be priced at $29.95, a considerable amount for Shark Fight’s first go around on a PPV broadcast, but with a card that stacked, its considerably a desirable watch.

The card takes place on September 11, at the Amarillo Civic Center in Texas, which has been home to several of Shark Fights’ previous endeavors.

Even though preliminary card can serve as a main card in most cases, and the promotion is not ruling out possible plans to feature said preliminary’s in some capacity, whether it be an online stream, or something of that nature.

Doug Evans, a former UFC lightweight turned featherweight, will take on Sengoku veteran Ronnie Mann for the 145-pound title.

Former WEC top welterweight contender and UFC standout Brock Larson will also be in action, though no opponent has been mentioned as of yet.

Sengoku, Bellator, and EliteXC veteran Dave Herman will be in a heavyweight clash against Strikeforce veteran Aaron Rosa, while WEC veterans Marcus Hicks and Karen Darabedyan will meet in a sure crowd pleaser, meeting at 155-pounds.

It’s almost exhausting having to name all of these fighters, but all are recognized fighters in the world of MMA, and none should be left out vicariously, in a card that will be one of the biggest outside of the UFC or Strikeforce banners.

So, will you be buying this particular card, or rather, is it worth the $29.95? (iN DEMAND)

Saturday night in Honolulu, EliteXC 160-Pound Champion “KJ” Karl James Noons(7-2) TKO’d challenger Yves Edwards (34-14-1) in 48 seconds.

“I’m the champion and have the EliteXC belt,” Noons declared after his impressive victory. “I’ll fight anybody!”

Noons may be destined for a rematch with the fighter EliteXC created the 160-pound division to crown as champion, Nick Diaz (17-7).

Diaz TKO’d Muhsin Corbbrey (8-3) in the third round.

“If they say Nick deserves a rematch,” Noons said, “then we can fight and I’ll beat him again…if he can make 160 pounds.”

Diaz weighed-in at 169 pounds for his fight versus Corbbrey, originally a 160-pound match-up.

“He must have weighed 200 pounds,” Corbbrey, who was warned before the weigh-ins that Diaz wouldn’t make the limit, said. “He out-fought me and I respect him for that. But, he wore me out when he leaned on me.”

“I hated coming in that heavy,” Diaz said. “I worked very hard to cut the weight; but, it just wouldn’t come off. I will and can still make 160 pounds and will fight KJ any time, any place.”

Diaz is yo-yoing between EliteXC’s 160-pound division and DREAM’s welterweight division, where he’s scheduled to fight “Mach” Hayato Sakurai(32-8-2) for DREAM’s title.

Notably, Diaz was cut beneath his left eye versus Corbbrey despite surgery he had after his loss to Noons to file down his ocular bones and reduce cutting.

After the main event, the cage hosted a scuffle between the Noons and Diaz camps.

“Nick has no class, he’s a bum, a piece of shit,” Noons blasted, “and he and his team disrespected my family and I with their gestures and trash talk and tried to upstage our fight.”

Diaz apologized, “I’m sorry about what happened in the cage afterward, but I didn’t start it. His guys were talking shit to us.”

In other fights, ICON Middleweight Champion Kala Kolohe Hose (6-2), comping off his biggest career victory over “New York Bad Ass” Phil Baroni (10-10), was upset in a rear naked choke by Bubba McDaniel (12-4) in just 41 seconds.

Middleweight “Ninja” Murilo Rua (16-8-1) served Aussie Tony Bonello (16-1-1) his first loss in a first-round TKO at 3:16.

“I get criticized by people who don’t think I have good striking skills so I’m happy to win the way I did,” Rua said. “This fight was dedicated to my baby boy who is due in late August or early September.”

Light heavyweight Rafael Feijao(6-1) TKO’d Wayne cole (11-7) at 2:47 of round one.

Heavyweight “Pee Wee” Dave Herman(11-0) TKO’d “H20″ Ron Waterman (15-6-2) at 2:19 of round one with a roundhouse kick that turned “H20′s” legs to water.

Mark Oshiro(11-1) TKO’d “Red Bull” Chris Willems (2-2-1) at 2:12 of round one.

Kaleo Kwan (9-8) won a UD over Mike Aina (9-7-1).

PJ Dean (1-3-1) and Dean Lista (3-1-1) fought to a majority draw.
