Dan Hardy vs. Chris Lytle tapped as main-event for "UFC on Versus 5"

Another addition of the "UFC on Versus" installment will be making it's return August for the fifth-time. There, heavy handed strikers and fan favorites Dan Hardy and Chris Lytle will meet in the main-event of the evening. It wasn't too long ago that both these men were considered to be some of the top contenders in the welterweight division, however after subsequent losses they now find themselves on the bubble and with another loss could very well be seeing their last days within the UFC. ...

UFC's Dan Hardy calls out Lytle; Chris says "Let's do it"
UFC's Dan Hardy calls out Lytle; Chris says "Let's do it"

If there was any one feeling that Dan Hardy could be feeling, it would be "frustrated". The one-time UFC title challenger is now reeling from a three-fight losing streak which began with his loss to current champion Georges St. Pierre in March of last year and finally culminated in his most recent loss to friend and fellow "banger" Anthony Johnson. The bout took place last Saturday and served as the co-main event of the evening of the Spike televised UFC Fight Night 24 event. The match initially, on paper at least, promised to be a fan pleasing slug fest with two of the divisions more dynamic strikers, however it turned out to be a 15-minute grappling match with the larger Johnson coming out on top. Now wanting what he calls a "real fight", Hardy has since called out veteran and former contender Chris Lytle, and the the fan-favorite slugger has since obliged. ...

Best Of The Rest: UFC Fight Night 24 "Nogueira vs. Davis"

Hello once more fans and friends and welcome to another new edition of “Best of the Rest”! I really enjoy taking the time to give my detailed thoughts on a show after watching it, but after the serious discussion and debate I’ll raise in topics like “Top 5 Best Moments” and “Best Performance of the Night”, I think it’d be nice to have a tongue-in-cheek topic where I give out some other “awards”. It’s all in good fun, so don’t take any of it too seriously. So let’s dive right into this latest edition, now featuring Fight Night 24. ...

Top 5 Best Moments Of UFC Fight Night 24 "Nogueira vs. Davis"

UFC Fight Night 24: “Nogueira vs. Davis” wasn’t a perfect event by any stretch of the imagination, but it did feature several very entertaining finishes. Although some fights were hit-and-miss, others were very enjoyable to watch. But which stars shined brightest, and what moments will fans be talking about in the following weeks? Here’s my take on the matter: my top 5 best moments of Fight Night 24: “Nogueira vs. Davis”. ...

What's Next For The Winners And Losers Of UFC Fight Night 24: "Nogueira vs. Davis"?

UFC Fight Night 24 had its fair share of ups and downs, but overall I considered it a solid “Fight Night” event. Now once again it’s time to ask: what’s next? What does the future hold after “Nogueira vs. Davis”? Here’s my answer to just that: a new edition of my “What’s Next for the Winners and Losers” series of articles, now featuring UFC Fight Night 24: “Nogueira vs. Davis”. ...

UFC Fight Night 24 "Nogueira vs. Davis" Results: More Hits Than Misses Means Another Solid UFC Event

Another week, another UFC event. The UFC recently wrapped up its “UFC Fight Night 24” event, featuring five free fights on Facebook and four free fights on Spike TV. Both broadcasts saw several entertaining fights and several breakthrough performances. And in the main event, Phil Davis took home the biggest victory of his career. Here are the full results as well as some commentary for UFC Fight Night 24: “Nogueira vs. Davis”. ...

UFN 24: Anthony Johnson dominates Dan Hardy in surprising grappling match; earns decision win

When pen was to put to paper for this bout, everyone assumed that Dan Hardy and Anthony Johnson would produce a war when these two knockout artists met tonight for "UFC Fight Night 24's" co-main event of the evening. While the first-round looked to live up to the hype early, Anthony Johnson quickly reverted back to what was later looking like what was his game plan all along. And after an extended layoff for "Rumble", he looked like he never missed a step once he returned to the octagon, in true form, and will now be looking to climb up the ranks once again of the welterweight class. ...

UFC Fight Night 24: All fighters on weight for tonight's Spike televised event

As tonight's combatants will soon enter the cage for arguably the most stacked UFC Fight Night card to date, everyone had their preliminary pre-fight preparations (say that five times fast) in order. With that said, most of the attention shared on the weigh-in ceremony largely surrounded the seemingly gargantuan Anthony Johnson, whom in the past has had a difficult time cutting to the welterweight limit of 170-pounds. However, today he looked as lean and svelte as he ever has before, as did everyone else who hit the scales, as not one fighter had an particular issue making their own specific weight class. ...

Finally Final Thoughts: UFC Fight Night 24 "Nogueira vs. Davis" Edition

With so much excitement and anticipation for UFC 128 in the days and weeks leading up to that event, I admit that I’ve somewhat neglected UFC Fight Night 24. However, as we come closer and closer to this event I’ve begun to realize how much I’m going to enjoy this show. So long as the fights live up to their potential, this should be another very solid night of UFC action. And now it’s time for my final say: this is the Fight Night 24 edition of “Finally Final Thoughts”, with my final, assorted thoughts on the card. Let’s get to it. ...

UFC Fight Night 24: "Nogueira vs. Davis" Picks And Predictions

We’re now only a few days away from UFC Fight Night 24: “Nogueira vs. Davis”. In the main event, Phil Davis takes on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in a bout that puts the winner once step closer to a title shot in a division that’s now blown wide open following the sudden ascension of Jon Jones. The co-main event will also be an interesting match-up, as Dan Hardy looks to break a two-fight losing streak by beating the returning Anthony Johnson, who has spent over a year outside of the Octagon but at one point was touted as one of the rising stars of the division. As is customary, here is my official “picks and predictions” post (covering who I think will win and why), now featuring UFC Fight Night 24. ...

On March 26, 2011, the UFC will hold its highly-anticipated “Fight Night 24” event, featuring a main event that pits top Light Heavyweight fighters “Mr. Wonderful” Phil Davis and “Little Nog” Antonio Rogerio Nogueira against each other. Also, Dan Hardy and Anthony Johnson meet in what should be a thrilling co-main event between two very skilled and very different Welterweight fighters. Still, some fans may be asking themselves: what are the best reasons to check out this card? Here’s my answer to just that: 5 reasons to watch “UFC Fight Night 24: Nogueira vs. Davis”. ...

My Top 5 Most Anticipated Fights Of March 2011

Hello once more fans and friends and welcome to the start of a brand-new series! Recently I started up another series called “Sneak Peek”, a once-per-month, end-of-month series designed to give fans a look at what to expect for next month. Today’s new series follows the same vein, except it’ll be once per month at the start of every month, and whereas “Sneak Peek” focused on the events as a whole, this new series will focus on my most-anticipated fights in particular. So here we go: these are my most anticipated fights for March 2011. ...

Dan Hardy vs. Anthony Johnson targeted for March inside the UFC

Former UFC title challenger Dan Hardy will be looking for some redemption come March. The Brit will be returning to the octagon next year on shaky footing with the promotion following back-to-back losses inside the cage, though to top flight competition. Hardy vied for the promotion's welterweight title earlier this year opposite of reigning and defending champion Georges St. Pierre. At UFC 111, Dan fell short of his dream to claim the UFC strap when GSP defeated him with a convincing 5-round clean sweep, earning the unanimous decision victory. The Team Roughhouse product returned later this year at UFC 120 when he took on former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit on the night's televised portion of the SpikeTV broadcast, however succumbed to his first knockout loss inside of the first-round. ...

Last Call for an Outlaw? Some Early Thoughts on Dan Hardy vs. Anthony Johnson

Numerous websites have begun picking up the story that Anthony Johnson has been tentatively scheduled to face Dan Hardy. And of course, I just can’t let a major match-up go by without getting my two cents in. And make no mistake, this is going to be a major match-up and I can’t wait to see it go down. So here’s my early thoughts on Anthony Johnson vs. Dan Hardy. ...

The More Things Change, the More Dan Hardy Stays the Same

An exciting fighter always runs the risk of being finished. That’s simply the nature of the game, it’s the risk involved with going out and trying to win and win big from the moment the cage door closes. How an exciting fighter comes back from a big (T)KO is usually more important than him getting (T)KO’d in the first place. And for former UFC Welterweight Championship contender Dan Hardy, who recently got KO’d by Carlos Condit, the comeback trail leads through the same path he’s walked on for most of his career. In a new interview, Hardy recently stated that he hasn’t changed much since the loss. Here are all the details. ...

UFC 120 "Bisping vs. Akiyama" Ratings and Medical Suspensions Are In

UFC 120: “Bisping vs. Akiyama” delivered a lot to MMA fans over in the UK. British fans got a good card with good-to-great fights after a year-long drought, and the event itself had so many fans attend that it was able to crack the top ten list of the most-attended events in UFC history. However, the UFC’s success in live gate attendance is tempered with the news that the show didn’t perform as well in its tape-delayed broadcast on Spike TV, as well as the fact that several fighters are looking at lengthy suspensions following UFC 120. Here are all the details. ...

Nothing Comes Easy for "The Outlaw", but Dan Hardy is Far From Done Following His KO Loss to Carlos Condit

In today’s world nothing lasts forever, especially in the highly competitive world of Mixed Martial Arts. One minute you can have one of the toughest chins around, the next you’re eating canvas. Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell is the most obvious example, while the WEC’s “Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung was the most recent example… until Dan Hardy found himself on the wrong end of a KTFO blow courtesy of Carlos Condit at UFC 120: “Bisping vs. Akiyama”. But according to a new interview, “The Outlaw” is more than ready to admit his mistakes and move forward. ...

With Over 17,000 in Attendance, the UFC Gives Out $240,000 in Bonuses at UFC 120: "Bisping vs. Akiyama"

According to early reports and estimates, UFC 120 was quite a success. This was the first event in London, England since UFC 95 back in February 2009, and UK fans turned out in droves to see top British stars like Michael Bisping and Dan Hardy, alongside up-and-comers John Hathaway and winner of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 9 James Wilks. The action-packed night saw several notable moments, and the UFC recently handed out their traditional “Of the Night” bonuses, awarding the night’s top fighters with an additional $60,000 for their spirited performances. So what’s next for the winners and losers of UFC 120? Here are my thoughts. ...

UFC 120 "Bisping vs. Akiyama" Results: Brits Rejoice as Bisping Wins Big, Dejected as Hardy Gets KO'd

The ufc has officially concluded its twentieth double-digit event, UFC 120: “Bisping vs. Akiyama”. In the main event, the always-brash, ever-cocky Michael Bisping toughed out a three-round war with Yoshihiro Akiyama to take a big and badly-needed Unanimous Decision win in front of his hometown crowd. However, the highlight of the event saw former WEC Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit knock out former UFC Welterweight Championship contender Dan Hardy in the culmination of a very bitter verbal war. Here are the full results to UFC 120: “Bisping vs. Akiyama”. ...

Today marks another milestone for the UFC: it’s twentieth triple-digit event. In the main event, cocky Brit Michael Bisping will face popular Asian fighter Yoshihiro Akiyama in a clash of nations as well as styles. It all goes down in a couple of hours for us Americans, so here are my picks and predictions for UFC 120: “Bisping vs. Akiyama”. ...

Seven questions UFC 120 will answer
Seven questions UFC 120 will answer

1. What effect will trainer Greg Jackson have on Yoshihiro Akiyama?  The Japanese fighter noted he worked with Jackson ahead of this fight vs. Michael Bisping.  Jackson has come to be known for taking exciting, offensive fighters, and instilling detailed game plans which emphasize controlling pace, and wrestling for body control … often to the benefit of the fighter in terms of scoring points, but not always a fan friendly style. Read on for questions 2-7... ...

Brothers in Arms once again: No Beef between "The Count" and "The Outlaw"

UFC 120 competitors Michael Bisping and Dan Hardy, both Englishmen, had been thought to be enemies not too long ago. While their careers have taken two extremely different paths, Hardy working the international circuit for years before coming into the UFC in 2008, and Bisping, short cutting his way to fame by winning a coveted six-figure contract with the worlds largest mixed martial arts organization, through season 3 of "The Ultimate Fighter". While it seems at times both are competing against one another indirectly, in order to become the leading faces of the UK MMA scene, that couldn't be anything further from the truth. ...

Carlos Condit vs Dan Hardy...and Michael Bisping
Carlos Condit vs Dan Hardy...and Michael Bisping

While a welterweight showdown is expected to take place come ufc 120 this Saturday, it looks like Michael Bisping had thrown his hat in the mix as well to get some shots in on Carlos Condit. While "The Natural Born Killer" is fighting opposite of England's own Dan Hardy, the season three winner of "The Ultimate Fighter", Bisping, has had some words to exchange with Condit as well. While there were some early concerns with Carlos coming to the London for his 170-pound match with Hardy, as he was delayed for a day due to passport issues leaving from New York, the matter was resolved and the Greg Jackson fighter left just a day later. ...

Hardy on Condit: "Don't be surprised if I take him down and put him to sleep"

The last time the MMA world saw Dan Hardy in the Octagon he was clearly dominated by Georges St. Pierre in an all too pedestrian wrestling match that fell far short of the stand and bang affair the Brit had pined for in the lead up to UFC 111.  Now, seven months removed, Hardy is back at UFC 120 to fight Carlos Condit, armed with a beefed up wrestling and Jiu Jitsu game, yet still eager to slug if given the option. ...

The Verbal Smackdown Continues as Dan Hardy Once Again Trashes Carlos Condit

When most fighters are faced with a humbling defeat, most fighters become humble. But Dan Hardy isn’t most fighters. Heading into his UFC 120 bout with Carlos Condit, it’s as if his one-sided loss to Georges St. Pierre at UFC 111 never happened. Hardy still has all the swagger and cocky bravado that has earned him an equal number of fans and cynics. Leading up to this upcoming fight, Hardy has said all manner of negative things towards Condit, a former Welterweight Champion in the WEC before its welterweight division was absorbed into the UFC. Here’s what the controversial Brit had to say most recently in an interview with MMA Weekly. ...
