strikeforce may be gaining a lot of momentum on the Showtime network by consistently putting on worthwhile events, but heading into 2011 their future on national television seems far more uncertain. CBS seems hesitant (some would even say “unwilling”) to take another chance on Strikeforce after they televised “Nashville”, the event that saw the infamous brawl between Jason Miller and several members of Team Cesar Gracie. What will it take to get Strikeforce back on CBS? Nothing short of an absolutely star-studded card. In that vein, here’s my personal “dream card” that I think is more than good enough to land a primetime slot on the CBS network. ...
I reported recently that former PRIDE FC and UFC star and newly-signed strikeforce star Dan Henderson had said that his recent inactivity was due to some political warfare between Strikeforce and the CBS network that has kept “Hendo” off the airwaves. CBS seems to be hesitant to re-invest in MMA despite the network boasting some of the highest-rated MMA shows in history, back when it was the now-defunct EliteXC promotion and not Strikeforce that was on national TV. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker recently commented on the situation in an interview with Sherdog. Here’s what the soft-spoken promoter had to say. ...

Rather than dwell on that fight, “Hendo” seems ready and focused to make his return to the San Diego-based promotion in a showdown with former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Renato Sobral at Strikeforce’s upcoming December show, “Strikeforce: St. Louis”. But why such a long layoff for such a highly decorated and in-demand fighter? And why on Showtime and not CBS? According to the man himself, the CBS network is to blame. ...
It was announced that heavyweight boxing champion “Lights Out” James Toney (0-0) has signed a five-fight deal with the UFC. The latest is that the contract is the first ever non-exclusive contract that the UFC has done. The signing of Toney can be looked at as a freak show, a shot to beat Strikeforce to the punch or a vehicle to prove that MMA is greater than boxing but no matter how you view it the important question is what will this do for the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA). ...
The last few weeks we have seen a lot going on inside the Strikeforce organization. Some of it,well most of it, seems rather negative and I wonder if we are watching the final days of the organization. ...
