Antonio McKee nixed from bout with Aoki at DREAM 17
Antonio McKee nixed from bout with Aoki at DREAM 17

A proposed bout, that was beginning to intrigue my fancy, between lightweight standouts Antonio McKee and Shinya Aoki has since been scrapped from the upcoming DREAM event. The promotion was set to make it's anticipated return for "DREAM 17: Fight for Japan", which is set to kickoff on May 29th at the Saitama Super Arena Hall in Saitama, Japan. The event is set in conjunction with several charities in an effort to help expedite the relief efforts to aid the since fallen country. McKee, a recent UFC cast out, recently spoke about the bout and officials made it official earlier this week, however now Antonio will be forced to withdraw from the event thanks to circumstantial issues that will not allow him to compete in Japan. ...

Antonio McKee says Shinya Aoki next for him
Antonio McKee says Shinya Aoki next for him

Since his release from the ufc, Antonio McKee's next move has been a big question mark. The former MFC lightweight champion, Antonio was originally expected to make his return to the Maximum Fighting Championships earlier this year in a title bout against the resurgent Drew Fickett, however a subsequent knee injury left him unable to accept the bout. Inevitably, MFC stripped McKee of his title and they will now pit Fickett against fellow UFC veteran Hermes Franca for the now vacant 155-pound title. While the promotion suggests that the vacation of Antonio's title was "mutual", McKee suggests otherwise, however in the meantime the 40-year-old will return to action come this May to take on "The Baka Survivor", Shinya Aoki. ...

What If MMA Fighters Played Call Of Duty? Part 1

Although I’m generally known for my serious looks into the world of MMA, fans and friends, I’d like to say that I always love a good joke. Remember, this is the same guy who brought you The Top 5 MMA Fighters That Could Survive a Nuclear Apocalypse and a Zombie Apocalypse. In that grand tradition, I now present my next magnum opus: What If MMA Fighters Played Call Of Duty? This two-part mega-series will shake both the MMA and video game world down to its core, and is filled with so much insider lingo both from MMA and from the COD community that it’ll probably alienate COD fans and MMA fans alike! And away we go! ...

Thoughts On Jacob Volkmann: Did This Really Need To Be A Scandal? Can't We All Get Over Ourselves?

What an interesting journey it’s been for Jacob Volkmann. Volkmann debuted in the ufc at an impressive 9-0, but went on to lose back-to-back fights. With his job most likely on the line, Volkmann’s third UFC fight saw him debut at Lightweight and finally get the all-important W inside the Octagon. Volkmann is currently on a three-fight win-streak, but nowadays he’s far more known for the post-fight interview he gave where he said he wanted to fight President Barack Obama. After an avalanche of controversy and media appearances, Volkmann recently gave some interesting comments on the situation. Here’s the latest. ...

Antonio McKee wastes no time since UFC release, meets Drew Ficket for MFC lightweight title

Antonio McKee was undefeated in eight-years of competition heading into his UFC debut earlier this month. A touted wrestler with amazing athleticism, even at the ripe-old-age of 40, McKee was a well respected veteran that had started to turn the corner of a "boring", "predictable", lay-and-pray style of fighting, and rattled off back-to-back finishes before his inception into the worlds biggest mixed martial arts promotion. So what did Antonio do in his organizational debut? Everything that the UFC was worried that he would do, stall the clock and try to squeeze out a decision based on indecisiveness and in-ring incompetence. For his efforts, after losing a split-decision to Jacob Volkmann at UFC 125, he was released by the organization following his one-fight stint, however has returned to his familiar stomping grounds of the Maximum Fighting Championships. ...

Brandon Vera and Antonio McKee Both Released From The UFC Following Losses At UFC 125

Another ufc event is in the history books, and another string of releases have been made because of it. The UFC continues to have some of the best MMA fights in the world, but they also continue to set a somewhat-dangerous precedent that anyone is expendable and no contract is safe. No matter how big of a star you are, if you fizzle in your debut or lose three in a row, you’re on the shortlist of fighters that can expect an incoming pink-slip. And that’s just what happened to both Brandon Vera and Antonio McKee, who are now free agents. Here are all the details. ...

Top 5 Reasons To Watch The Surprisingly Awesome Undercard Of UFC 125 "Resolution"

UFC 125 “Resolution” is fast approaching us, fans and friends, and New Year’s Day should give us an amazing card filled with great fights. Much has been made of the main Pay-Per-View card, since it features big match-ups featuring major stars like Nate Diaz, Takanori Gomi, Clay Guida, and many more. But here’s something you may not know: this show even has a ridiculously stacked undercard. It’s so good, in fact, that it warrants a Top 5. So here are five great reasons to find a way to watch UFC 125’s undercard. ...

Antonio McKee Calls Himself The Muhammad Ali of MMA
Antonio McKee Calls Himself The Muhammad Ali of MMA

Former heavyweight champion boxer Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest boxers of all-time.  Amazing hand speed, footwork, technical boxing skills, incredible toughness, adept trash talking, and a knack for exciting fights are just some of the things he was known for.  Former MFC Lightweight Champion Antonio McKee is about to make his big time debut at UFC 125 against Jacob Volkmann.  McKee is riding a 15 fight unbeaten streak that has seen him defeat tough competitors like Carlo Prater and Marcus Aurelio.  Further, he is known for being able to hype a fight.  But considering he's been battling in the minor leagues (no offense to MFC, they're a good promotion) and is generally known for winning decisions in less than exciting contests, the fact that he recently compared himself to Ali seems a bit premature.  ...

"UFC 125: Resolution" coming together for the New Year
"UFC 125: Resolution" coming together for the New Year

As the worlds largest mixed martial art's organization tries to ring in the new year, additional bouts have been added to a stacked card. Next New Year's, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the UFC will return to Nevada with a lightweight title fight pitting current champion Frankie Edgar, who is riding on a 5-fight win streak (which included two back-to-back victories over former champion BJ Penn) will look to exact revenge when he defends his title against the only man to defeat him, undefeated UFC lightweight title challenger Gray Maynard. Also in action, former Interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin is coming back to action after succumbing to his first defeat as a professional at UFC 116 when he tangles with the former IFL heavyweight champion and season 10 winner of "The Ultimate Fighter", Roy Nelson. ...

Antonio McKee to face Jacob Volkmann in January--Issues statement to the "haters"

Antonio McKee, if anything else, is a dominant fighter. He hasn't put together the most exciting fights in his career, which is made evident by his 18 decision victories in his 25 wins as a professional, but his wrestling base has been something that has carried him through a 13-fight win streak (with 1 draw in the 14 fight stretch). However, since turning a corner in his career, finally at the ripe old age of 40, McKee is now on the heels of a two-fight finishing streak, most recently dispatching notable veteran Luiz Azevedo in defense of his MFC lightweight title. The 7 years Azevedo has competed as a professional mixed martial artist, he has defeated some of the sports best, including Rodrigo Damm, Din Thomas, and currently holds a victory over WEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo--the Novia Uniao product's only career defeat. Making a promise to himself in an effort to finish fights as a last "hoorah" to the big time, McKee has finally reached the pinnacle of his career when he was recently acquired by the worlds largest organization: the UFC. ...

Antonio McKee finally in UFC Fold
Antonio McKee finally in UFC Fold

In 25 wins, Antonio McKee has won 18 by decision. It would seem that for a while he would be labeled as a "boring" fighter. Not a whole lot of promotions wanted to chance having McKee, a dominant wrestler among their ranks. Why? Because in one stretch, dating back to 2003, McKee went on a 12-fight win streak--all by way of decision. ...
