Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Says "Dana White Is Not God"... Most People Would Disagree, Though

Not many people are willing to challenge the word of UFC President Dana White, both inside and outside the UFC. Dana White says all manner of controversial things very regularly, but few fighters are willing to speak out against the man that signs their checks. Interestingly enough, one man that’s decided to do so recently is former champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. It’s pretty unusual that “Big Nog” makes himself a point of controversy, so here are all the details. ...

Top 5 Moments Of UFC 132 "Cruz vs. Faber"
Top 5 Moments Of UFC 132 "Cruz vs. Faber"

Wow… what an event UFC 132 was. We saw big submissions, close wars, brutal KO’s, shocking finishes, fighters falling from grace, and fighters re-asserting their dominance. It was a mixed bag of highs and lows depending on which fighters you were a fan of, but it all combined for one phenomenal event. But which stars shined brightest, and what moments will fans be talking about in the following weeks? Here’s my take on the matter: my top 5 best moments of UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber”. ...

What's Next For The Winners And Losers Of UFC 132 "Cruz vs. Faber"?

Without hyperbole, UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber” was one of the best MMA events I’ve seen in 2011, and perhaps even in the last few years. We had so many interesting fights, so many entertaining all-out wars, so many dramatic and unexpected finishes. Now once again it’s time to ask: what’s next? What does the future hold after Dominick Cruz beat the only man that ever defeated him, after Wanderlei Silva was destroyed by Chris Leben, after Tito Ortiz finally got another win in the Octagon? Here’s my answer to just that: a new edition of my “What’s Next for the Winners and Losers” series of articles, now featuring UFC 132. ...

UFC 132 "Cruz vs. Faber" Results: An Amazing Night Of Fights I Won't Soon Forget

UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber” is now in the history books, and what a history lesson it was. Without the benefit of a UFC mega-draw, headlined by a championship fight in a smaller weight division featuring a champion that was fighting in the UFC for the first time, UFC 132 was an event at odds with itself. But in true UFC fashion, this is an event that lived up to and far exceeded its perceived potential. Fans and friends, we’ve got a strong contender for “Event of the Year”, and UFC 132 may have beaten out the amazing UFC 129, which I said would be the benchmark for the rest of the year. Here are the full results as well as some early commentary for UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber”. ...

On July 2, 2011, the UFC will hold its highly-anticipated “UFC 132” event, featuring champion Dominick Cruz defending his UFC Bantamweight Championship against the only man he’s ever lost to, Urijah Faber. Also, MMA legend Wanderlei Silva returns from an extended absence and challenges tough, veteran brawler Chris Leben. Still, some fans may be asking themselves: what are the best reasons to check out this card? Here’s my answer to just that: 5 reasons to watch UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber”. ...

UFC 132 "Cruz vs. Faber 2" Picks And Predictions

We’re now only a few days away from UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber”. In the main event, UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz makes his long-awaited UFC debut and takes on the only man to have ever beaten him: Urijah Faber. The co-main event will also be an interesting match-up, as legendary brawler Wanderlei Silva takes on Chris Leben, who has always been one of the best pure brawlers in the UFC’s Middleweight division. As is customary, here is my official “picks and predictions” post (covering who I think will win and why), now featuring UFC 132. ...

With four entries down and only two more to go, “A Closer Look At ufc 132” is almost over, fans and friends. Chief amongst them is their UFC 132 event, which is scheduled for the July 4 weekend and features some of the UFC’s best and brightest stars. Eleven full fights have recently been made official for this event, including the highly-anticipated grudge match between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber. Here are all the details. ...

After a pretty large deluge of ufc shows in the month of March, UFC fans will only have “The Ultimate Fighter” to tide themselves over as we head towards the end of the month. 5 Reasons Why Wanderlei Silva vs. Vitor Belfort Makes Sense And Should Happen

The dust has barely settled from UFC 126 “Silva vs. Belfort”, but already people are talking about a potential match-up between Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva. Many fight fans would love to see this bout happen, and both Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort seem open to meeting each other in the center of the Octagon. As both a big Wanderlei fan and a big Belfort fan, here’s five reasons why this fight makes sense and absolutely should happen. ...

Both Wanderlei and Vitor open to rematch in the UFC
Both Wanderlei and Vitor open to rematch in the UFC

Two legends of the sport, both Brazilian, could only mean another epic, monolithic fight that should be taking place in the foreseeable future...but will it? Former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort is coming off of an embarrassing first-round knockout to current middleweight titleholder Anderson Silva last Saturday at UFC 126. After a precarious few minutes spent with both men gauging one another, Silva unleashed a front kick to the face that helped set-up the knockout in less than four-minutes of action. Wanderlei Silva knows all about embarassing defeats, as he was the victim of one opposite of Belfort, and while Wanderlei seeks redemption in a bout with Vitor, "The Phenom" looks to do the same with a potential win in his next outing. ...

Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann not a done deal for UFC 130
Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann not a done deal for UFC 130

A previously reported middleweight match-up pitting middleweights Brian Stann and legend Wanderlei Silva is not yet a done deal for ufc 130, a future pay-per-view event which is anticipated to be headlined by a lightweight title fight featuring champion Frankie Edgar against top contender Gray Maynard. Dana White, President of the UFC, indicated less than a month ago that the proposed middleweight fight was something the organization was targeting for the May event, however such may not be the case, at least not quite yet. ...

The Latest On UFC 130: Edgar/Maynard 3, Stann/Silva, Rampage/Silva, Mir/Nelson, And More

For several reasons, ufc 125 “Resolution” has already emerged as the possible “Sleeper Hit” of the year, thanks in no small part to the epic second showdown between Frank Edgar and Gray Maynard. A large section of the fanbase doubted Edgar’s and Maynard’s ability to put on an exciting fight, but in the end, the two headlining attractions of UFC 125 gave us five amazing rounds of action in a fight that has already emerged as a “Fight of the Year” contender. The UFC recently announced the hotly-anticipated third encounter between the two, as well as several other awesome bouts, for their upcoming UFC 130 show, which is now officially UFC 130 “Edgar vs. Maynard 3”. Here are all the details. ...

Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann could be next on deck next according to UFC President

Former PRIDE middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva has stated that he would like to make a return to action by possibly March of this year. A slew of opponents have already thrown their name in the hat to face "The Axe Murderer" including Chris Leben, Chael Sonnen, Alan Belcher--and most recently Brian Stann. The former Marine came off of an impressive performance in his last outing when he took on "The Ultimate Fighter" veteran and former top contender in Leben, who he defeated with a deftly accurate array of strikes which eventually lead to a first-round TKO victory. ...

Top 5 Opponents For Brian Stann
Top 5 Opponents For Brian Stann

Brian Stann is a UFC veteran, a former WEC Light Heavyweight Champion, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. And at UFC 125 “Resolution”, he finally emerged as a legitimate threat in the UFC’s Middleweight division, beating back the always-dangerous Chris Leben and putting an end to what was arguably the best win-streak of Leben’s career. Moving forward, Stann could emerge as a legitimate championship contender by the time 2011 is through, so long as he faces the right opponents. And who should those opponents be? Here’s a Top 5 with just that in mind. ...

Chael Sonnen says he wants an easy fight, so he's looking for Wanderlei Silva

Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen will be returning to the octagon in the first quarter of 2011. The Oregon native was last seen in action when he was pitted against reigning middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva last August at UFC 117 in Oakland, Cali. Sonnen dominated the Brazilian for a majority of the fight, even dropping the dynamic striker in the opening moments of the fight. However, a mental lapse in the fifth and final round allowed Chael to be submitted in the waning moments of the fight, and with a triangle choke in place, Sonnen tapped out with less than two minutes to go in the fight. Following the 185-pound contest, Sonnen was suspended on initial suspicion of steroid use when post-fight medicals showed that the 33-year-old had elevated levels of testosterone in his system. ...

Wanderlei Silva: "Vitor Belfort Is Psychologically Weak, And I'm Going to Knock Him Out!"

A lot of fans and fighters are once again talking about Wanderlei Silva after a drop down to Middleweight seems to have revitalized the career of “The Axe Murderer”. Several fighters have called out Wanderlei in the past: no less than Alan Belcher, Nate Marquardt, and Chris Leben have all made it known that they’ve got Wanderlei in their sights. For his part, Wanderlei has called out Chael Sonnen, and most recently, he’s set another high-level Middleweight in his sights. Both for revenge and for championship relevancy, Silva recently stated that he’s ready and willing to fight the current top contender to the UFC Middleweight Championship, the resurrected “Phenom”, Vitor Belfort. ...

No TUF, No Problem: Wanderlei Silva Would Still Glady Fight Chael Sonnen

Despite the fact that an official announcement was supposed to be made sometime last week, the thirteenth season of the popular UFC reality TV show “The Ultimate Fighter” remains without coaches at the time of this article's release. For quite some time it was rumored that Wanderlei Silva would coach opposite Chael Sonnen, building on the fireworks seen in a classic encounter between the two. It’s now been confirmed that neither Silva nor Sonnen will be a coach for TUF Season 13, but if “The Axe Murderer” had his way, he’d meet Chael Sonnen anyway. In fact, Silva recently threw down the gauntlet in a new interview. Here are all the details. ...

A TUF Pill to Swallow: No Chael or Wanderlei for "The Ultimate Fighter" Season 13, Brazil Soon to Come

Many are still left wondering what the future holds for the popular long-running UFC reality TV show “The Ultimate Fighter”. The coaches for the landmark thirteenth season of TUF have yet to be announced, although a new report indicates that Dana White will announce the coaches either today (December 16) or tomorrow (December 17). Another report indicates that Brazil is one of the major competitors in the hunt to see which country gets an international version of TUF first. And one of MMA’s premiere journalists recently confirmed that neither Wanderlei Silva nor Chael Sonnen will coach TUF Season 13. Here are all the details. ...

Brazil on the Brain: Rumors of the UFC's 2011 Return Point to August 2011, Rio De Janeiro, and More

Throughout the entirety of Mixed Martial Arts, it has become generally accepted that the best fighters in the world either come from the United States or Brazil. There are a lot of exceptions to the rule, sure, but America and Brazil dominates in terms of star talent and MMA champions. So when the ufc announced its intentions to return to Brazil after a long, long absence, it rightfully set the MMA rumor mill spinning. And a recent report is sure to keep the mill churning for quite some time. ...

Decisions, Decisions: Nate Marquardt Joins the Growing List of Fighters Calling Out Wanderlei Silva

In the here and now, the future remains a mystery for one-time UFC Middleweight Championship challenger Nate Marquardt. Nate “The Great” continues to look like a dominant force against most mid-level opponents, yet he also continues to choke in big-opportunity fights. Marquardt most recently lost another championship challenger eliminator fight against Yushin Okami. Marquardt is looking to rebound from this loss in the biggest way possible, as he’s recently joined the growing list of fighters hoping to welcome PRIDE FC legend Wanderlei Silva back into the Octagon. Here are all the details. ...

Both Vitor Belfort and Alan Belcher Want a Piece of Wanderlei Silva, and Silva is Happy to Oblige

For the first time in an unfortunately long while, the future looks bright for former PRIDE FC star Wanderlei Silva. Silva’s Middleweight debut and win against Michael Bisping broke a two-fight losing-streak and effectively breathed new life into “The Axe Murderer” as a performer. Now several Middleweight stars all want their crack at Silva: Chris Leben has already vocally called Silva out, but recently, both Vitor Belfort and Alan Belcher made it known that they’d enjoy taking on Wanderlei. Wanderlei even responded to one of their challenges recently. Here are all the details. ...

The UFC Returns to Brazil in 2011
The UFC Returns to Brazil in 2011

In the midst of an international expansion that is virtually unrivaled in all of Mixed Martial Arts, the ufc’s absence from one foreign country in particular remains perplexing. Consider the fact that a massive chunk of the best of the best that compete in the UFC are from Brazil, and then consider the fact that the UFC hasn’t ran an event in Brazil for over a decade. But fear not, the hiatus is now over. According to Graciemag International, 2011 will mark the UFC’s return to Brazil for the first time since 1998. ...

Wanderlei Silva wants to reunite old Chute Boxe
Wanderlei Silva wants to reunite old Chute Boxe

As the World MMA Awards of 2010 begin to loom closer and closer, UFC middleweight fighter Wanderlei Silva has made no secret who's vote he will be casting in, for trainer of the year. Rafael Cordeiro, Silva's former trainer for his Chute Boxe days, tops the list. The two have reunited this year when "The Axe Murderer" made a successful debut in the 185-pound division, after a long and storied career n the light heavyweight division, defeating Michael Bisping at UFC 110 in Sydney, Australia, with Cordeiro in his corner. Assisting him in the weeks leading up to the fight, Silva has acknowledged that training again with whom he calls his "Master", Cordeiro has replicated the same success in other fighters and will now assist Silva in bringing back the old Chute Boxe team once again. ...

Top 5 Opponents for Michael Bisping
Top 5 Opponents for Michael Bisping

Michael Bisping always seems to get himself a big win right when he needs it the most. He rebounded from a loss to Rashad Evans by dropping down to Middleweight and winning three straight fights. He rebounded from the first KO loss of his career by TKO’ing former PRIDE FC star Denis Kang. And he’s now rebounded from a tough loss to Wanderlei Silva with two tough wins over Dan Miller and Yoshihiro Akiyama. So what’s next for the brash British bad-boy? Here are my top 5 opponents for Michael Bisping. ...

Michael Bisping Knows He Beat Wanderlei Silva... Michael Bisping is an Idiot

Michael Bisping: you either love him or you hate him. There’s normally very little in-between. A darling to most British fans (he’s headlined several British UFC cards), his cocky attitude and swagger have earned him the animosity of many other MMA fans. I however have been one of the rare middle-of-the-road Bisping quasi-fans: I think the man doesn’t get enough credit and is a good fighter, but I do think that he’s pretty cocky and does say some stupid things just to get people riled up. Case in point: Bisping recently said that he knows he should have won his last fight against PRIDE FC legend Wanderlei Silva. ...

Wanderlei Silva Eyes March Return and a Fight with Chris Leben

Following his tough and heartfelt victory over British bad boy Michael Bisping at UFC 110, fans of “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva found something they hadn’t seen in years: hope. After going 1-2 in the UFC’s Light Heavyweight division (with one loss at a catchweight 195), Silva seemed poised for a rebirth leading up to his fight with Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 116. The fight never happened, as a rib injury forced Silva off of the card. His replacement, Chris Leben, pulled out a dramatic Triangle Submission in the dying seconds of the last round, capping off a stellar comeback that put Leben truly “into the mix” for the first time in years, if not ever. But “The Crippler” should take notice: Silva is gunning for him when he returns to the Octagon. ...
