ufc 121: “Lesnar vs. Velasquez” was the latest in a long line of super-cards that once again proved why the UFC is the best promotion on the planet. In the main event, Cain Velasquez trounced Brock Lesnar and became the first Mexican champion in UFC history. The event didn’t rest on that laurel, however, as Jake Shields debuted successfully at 121 while Diego Sanchez and Paulo Thiago had a great fight, in addition to the always-controversial Tito Ortiz fighting and losing to Matt Hamill. The list of fighter suspensions as well as salaries have recently been made public, here are all the details. ...
Should Tito Ortiz retire? After his lackluster performance at ufc 121 against friend and former protégé Matt Hamill, talks have one again begun to surface on whether or not the former long-reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion should cut his losses and call it a career. But according to the man himself, “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” believes that fans and insiders are being far too hasty when they tell him that it may be time to hang up the gloves. Here’s what the always-controversial Tito Ortiz had to say on the subject, courtesy of MMA Weekly. ...
UFC 121: “Lesnar vs. Velasquez” was a great event filled with star-studded fighters and lots of up-and-coming talent, and further proved that the UFC likes to finish strong when it comes to their end-of-year activities. The UFC was more than happy to open their wallets after the event, and awarded their traditional “Of the Night” bonuses after the event, with four men pocketing an extra $70,000 for their spirited performances. Here are all the details, courtesy of Sherdog. ...
ufc 121 “Lesnar vs. Velasquez” is now in the history books, and what an event it was. We saw a new champion, close victories, big victories, and several very entertaining fights. 121 was filled to the brim with fighters that have all spent time at the top of the cards in recent years, but based on their performances at the event, it’s safe to say that some will be keeping that spot for the foreseeable future while others will be tumbling both down the cards and in relevancy. As is customary after every major PPV, here are my thoughts on what’s next for some of the big winners and losers at UFC 121: “Lesnar vs. Velasquez”. ...
ufc 121 “Lesnar vs. Velasquez” airs today live on Pay-Per-View from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. In the main event, Cain Velasquez looks to become the first Mexican UFC champion in promotional history when he takes on current UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. The event will also feature the promotional debut of former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Jake Shields, and the promotional return of former long-reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz. Everyone’s talking about UFC 121, so here are my picks and predictions for the night’s major fights. ...
One upon a time, Tito Ortiz was the face of the UFC. Adorned on the cover of magazines, video games, posters, there was no denying the impact that "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" has had on the sport, but are his best days behind him? Well, he certainly doesn't think so. After a tumultuous relationship with Dana White that hindered any talks of Ortiz, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, returning to the worlds largest mixed martial arts organization, he was later able to revitalize his career, mend fences and after two successful surgeries, he finds himself in awkward space: at the bottom, looking for his way back to the top. ...
We've all heard it before from Ortiz. He's claimed being healthy on, who knows how many occasions. Heading into his second bout with Forrest Griffin at ufc 106, all the pre-fight hype surrounding Ortiz was centered around him claiming that his re-entry into the the worlds largest organization would be on the heels of a successful surgery repairing damage to his back and neck (which had been sustained over the years). And claiming a clear bill of health, after the bouts conclusion Ortiz revealed a broken orbital bone and a cracked skull as the ultimate cause of a poor performance turned against his rival (the two met previously some years ago, where Ortiz claimed a highly disputed split-decision victory at UFC 59, while Griffin picked up a split-decision victory in the rematch). ...
After pulling off one of the most unexpected returns in recent history, former long-reigning ufc Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz still hasn’t fully capitalized on his return to the UFC after unexpectedly burying his long-standing and famously bitter beef with UFC President Dana White in July of 2009. Since then Ortiz has competed only once in the promotion that made him famous, losing to Forrest Griffin in November of 2009. A stint on “The Ultimate Fighter” and another surgery in a long list of surgeries kept Ortiz out of action for nearly a year, but heading into yet another comeback fight at UFC 121 against Matt Hamill, “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” once again contends that he’s in incredible shape and will recapture his glory days in his next fight. ...
It’s the fight that an entire season of “The Ultimate Fighter” was built upon, it’s the fight that caused a UFC legend to come out of retirement despite virtually everyone telling him to hang it up. It would have been, perhaps should have been, the third and final chapter in what is easily the bitterest rivalry in UFC history. And now it will never happen. UFC President Dana White recently confirmed that there will never be a third fight between former UFC Light Heavyweight Champions Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, and he also reiterated that Chuck Liddell is done fighting in the UFC. Here are all the details. ...
As the new year looms closer and closer, the Super Bowl weekend card looks to be a star studded affair. Previously mentioned, the main event of the evening is looking like it will be a battle between Brazilians when Vitor Belfort challenges former teammate Anderson Silva for the ufc middleweight title. Also on the card, a battle between light heavyweights Ryan Bader and Jon Jones will battle it out for top contenders status in a stacked 205-pound division. Seemingly a shoe in for co-main event honors, the bout was trumped when a recent news breaker was published, which will garner a lot of attention come fight time. ...
Longtime veteran Vladimir Matyushenko has secured his spot with the MMA juggernaut that is the UFC. Since his inception into the world of mixed martial arts, Matyushenko has experienced the full gamut that the sport as had to offer, the highs and lows. The former IFL light heavyweight champion holds signature wins over Jamal Patterson, Pedro Rizzo and Antonio Rogerio Nogueria. He's challeneged for the UFC's 205-pound strap against then champion Tito Ortiz, was a contender in it's heavyweight division, but has never been able to secure a top spot in the organization. ...
The Ultimate Fighting Championship recently released the official lineup for their upcoming UFC 121 event, and it should come as no surprise that Brock Lesnar defending his UFC Heavyweight Championship against Cain Velasquez has taken center stage as the show’s main event. Brock Lesnar was last seen pulling off one of the biggest, best comebacks of 2010, absorbing all former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Shane Carwin had to give him for five full minutes, then submitting Carwin via Arm Triangle Choke early in the second round. Cain Velasquez’s last fight saw him demolish the once-unbreakable chin of PRIDE FC legend Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira. UFC 121 will take place October 23 in Anaheim, California, and features a star-studded main card in addition to the big-money main event. ...
Forrest Griffin, the first ever winner of the famed reality series "The Ultimate Fighter", has become a bit of an entrepreneur in the days he spends outside of the octagon. While the former light heavyweight champion has been on the mend since having necessary shoulder surgery following his win over Tito Ortiz at UFC 106 in November of last year, he has taken the opportunity to follow up his best selling book "Got Fight?" with another reader-pleaser, and is now en route on a book tour across the country. ...
Does Tito Ortiz still peak interest with MMA fans? How about Kazushi Sakuraba? Does the "Gracie Hunter" still make you wish you would have paid attention to Japanese manga more and bought a cheap leatard and called yourself a wrestler? Well, I didn't think so. ...
It seems we have come to the end of the ordeal involving "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz (15-7-1) and his girlfriend Jenna Jamesson as Tito will not be prosecuted for domestic violence. TMZ once again scoops the entire mixed martial arts (MMA) world by announcing that the Orange County District Attorney rejected the case based on "insufficient corroboration to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he attacked his girlfriend Jenna Jameson." Tito was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence after officers were called to the couple's residence on April 26 in Huntington Beach, California. The lack of charges filed likely stems from the constant changing story of Jenna. Originally she stated Tito had been physical with her. Tito stated he found the pill Oxycontin in her pants and this was the reason for the argument. Later Chip Matthews, Tito's lawyer, told Sherdog that the incident had been a “misunderstanding” and the couple was moving towards reconciliation. Then Jenna recanted once again and the District Attorney decided to take a look at the charges. I am sure all the MMA fans worldwide are happy to see an end to "As the World Turns" starring Jenna and Tito. ...
I stated in my last piece detailing the arrest of "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz (15-7-1) for domestic violence that we would update this story as news came out. Today celebrity news site TMZ reported that Jenna Jameson and Tito Ortiz have recanted their stories. ...
The celebrity news website TMZ broke the story that "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz (15-7-1) had been arrested for domestic violence just before noon yesterday at the couple's home in Huntington Beach. As websites push to cover the story, many seem to forget a simple saying: Innocent until proven guilty. ...
Much has been made about how the UFC handled the situation of the removal of "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz from "The Ultimate Fighter 11" show and his replacement on the show as well as at UFC 115, "Ace" Rich Franklin (26-5). Tito has since made a brief statement regarding fans saying he lied and the change of headliner made a huge impact on ticket sales for UFC 115. ...
Spike TV announced that the premiere episode of "The Ultimate Fighter 11" (TUF) saw a drastic drop in viewership from the debut episode of TUF 10. The ratings drop was a decline of 53 percent and no one was more shocked than me at this news. ...
Former staple champions for the UFC, light heavyweight “Iceman” Chuck Liddell (21-7) and one-time middleweight “Ace” Rich Franklin (26-5), will matchup in the main event of UFC 115 in Vancouver June 12, according to a Fighters Only Report and confirmed by MMA Junkie. ...

UFC 111 will go down in history as the first ever broadcast pay-per-view event fully in Spanish. This move leads me to believe that an event live from Mexico can't be far behind. The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced this all Spanish broadcast on Monday complete with new UFC announcers Troy Santiago and Victor Davila. ...
UFC 113 in Montreal was shaping up to be a very big fight card on May 8 and it just got much bigger. The addition of "Minotoro" Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (17-3) versus Fighters.com fifth-ranked light heavyweight Forrest Griffin (17-6) has made this a must see card for fight fans. ...
Fighters.com eighth-ranked light heavyweight "Iceman" Chuck Liddell (21-7) has started training jiu jitsu with Eddie Bravo of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu. After winning the title in 2005 and defending it four times, Liddell has dropped four of his past five bouts, including back-to-back losses to fourth-ranked "Sugar" Rashad Evans (13-1-1) in 2008 and third-ranked “Shogun” Mauricio Rua (18-4) in 2009. I believe that this will help to elevate Chuck's game and will help to right the losing skid he is been on as of late. ...
UFC light heavyweight "Minotoro" Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (17-3) has emerged from a two-year hiatus from the top ten rankings, during which much of the new MMA fandom knew him only as the brother of Fighters.com's fourth-ranked heavyweight “Minotauro” Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (32-5-1). ...
