Former EliteXC heavyweight champ “Junior” Antonio Silva (13-1) won his sixth straight when he tapped out “Big” Jim York (9-2) at 3:51 of round one at Sengoku Tenth Battle in Tokyo Tuesday night.

It was Silva’s second first-round stoppage in two tries at Sengoku; and, there are whispers Silva and eighth-ranked “Babyface Assassin” Josh Barnett (20-5) are on a collision course.

Sengoku announced “Junior” Antonio Silva (12-1), “Lion” Ryan Schultz (20-11-1), “El Dirte” Joe Doerksen (42-12), Kazunori Yokota (8-2-2), Makoto Takimoto (4-5), and Hiroshi Izumi (0-0) will all make appearances at 10th Battle in Tokyo 23 September.

Heavyweight Silva has refuged in Japan as an outlaw since testing positive for banned substances after TKOing Justin Eilers (19-7-1) for the EliteXC strap in Stockton in July 2008 resulting in a suspension from the California State Athletic Commission. Silva denies the charges.

He took a TKO due to injury over “Kiss” Yoshihiro Nakao (8-2) at Sengoku in Tokyo last January.

MMA rookie “King Mo” Muhammed Lawal (1-0) upset “Diesel” Travis Wiuff (53-12) by first-round TKO at 2:11 Sunday night in Tokyo.

Lawal staggered Wiuff with a right Superman punch, then rushed in with a double-leg takedown at the ropes.  Lawal leapt on Wiuff and finished him off with ground’n’pound.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion “Xande” Alexandre Ribeiro (1-0) TKO’d Takashi Sugiura (1-3) in the last minute of his anticipated MMA debut.

Mitsuoka Plugs Damm, Gomi, Trigg Win Decisions

Fighters.com’s Sixth-ranked lightweight Eiji Mitsuoka (13-5-2) popped Rodrigo Damm (8-2) with an overhand right in the first round Sunday night in Saitama, north of Tokyo, then slid a rear naked choke around the BJJ player’s throat for the tap at 3:13 of the round.

Mitsuoka advanced to the second round of the Sengoku lightweight tournament, the winner of which will fight second-ranked “Fireball Kid” Takanori Gomi (29-3).

Gomi headlined Sengoku’s fourth battle with a narrow decision over DEEP Lightweight Champion Seung Hwan Bang (5-2).

It was Bang who provided the bang in his stand-up exchanges with the notorious big-puncher Gomi.

But, Gomi edged Bang with stinging leg kicks and championship conditioning for the decision.

Nelson, Schultz Defend IFL Titles, Miller Wins First Belt

Friday in Connecticut, IFL Heavyweight Champion Roy Nelson (13-2) blitzed “Hillbilly Heartthrob” Brad Imes (11-5) at the bell to score a TKO in 2:55 and retain his title.

“Lion” Ryan Schultz (20-9-1) defended his IFL lightweight title in a five-round unanimous decision “W” over tough Lithuanian Deividas Taurosevicius (9-3).

Middleweight Dan Miller (8-1) blew through IFL Middleweight Champion Ryan McGivern (12-6).  At 3:36 of round one, Miller sucked up McGivern’s right leg in a kneebar to tap the champ and take his strap.

On the undercard at the Mohegan Sun, “Indio” Danillo Villefort (7-2) tapped middleweight Mike Massenzio in a kneebar at 3:25 of round one.

Jorge Gurgel-trained lightweight “Pitbull” Josh Souder (7-2) dispatched Zac George (12-3) by TKO in 47 seconds.

Middleweight “Suave” Matt Horwich (23-10) won a unanimous decision over “Coyote” Joey Guel (13-6).

Welterweight “Doomsday” John Howard (9-3) TKO’d Nick Calandrino (4-1) at 2:24 of round three.

Light heavyweight Aaron Stark (6-4) won a unanimous decision over “Philly Bad Ass” Lamont Lister (4-4), fresh off his win at YAMMA Pit Fighting.

Lightweight John Franchi (4-0) remained undefeated tapping Frank Latina (4-2) in a rear naked choke at 2:19 of round one.

IFL Titles: Schultz Defends, McGivern Wins

IFL Lightweight Champion “The Lion” Ryan Schultz ran his streak to five wins at Orleans Arena in Vegas Friday night.

Team Quest’s Schultz, 19-9-1, escaped a choke hold applied by 15-6 John Gunderson to grind out a unanimous decision.

Miletich middleweight Ryan McGivern added the IFL 185-pound strap to his belt drawer with a unanimous decision over defending champion “Suave” Matt Horwich of Team Quest.

The back-and-forth rematch was fight of the night ending with the same result as their 2006 fight.

IFL Heavyweight Champion Roy Nelson made quick work of debuting “Pega-Leve” Fabiano Scherner with TKO at 3:20 of round one.

On the undercard, 17-3 middleweight Jake Ellenberger won a unanimous decision over “Bam Bam” Pat Healy.

BTT light heavy “Cacareco” Alexandre Ferreira submitted ATT’s Lew Polley in 20 seconds for 16th “W” against five losses.

Late substitution “Bring the Pain” Josh Haynes of Team Quest won a unanimous decision over Brazilian Leopoldo Serao to pull even at 9-9.

ATT lightweight Rafael Dias submitted 11-4 Santino Defranco at 2:03 of round one to raise his record to 10-3-1.

Finally, featherweight “The Barn Owl” Ian Loveland of Team Quest guillotine choked Xtreme Couture’s “Piranha” Dennis Davis 58-seconds into round two for his ninth win against seven losses.
