The post UFC 109 talks have begun and it did not take long for many to say Fighters.com’s tenth-ranked heavyweight “Natural” Randy Couture (18-10) just elevated himself to the top five of the light-heavyweight division with his win over “The Hammer” Mark Coleman (16-10) Saturday night. The thought of him being in the top five is ridiculous when you look at the division and what he is done in the division since coming back down from heavyweight.

Fighters.com eighth-ranked light heavyweight “Iceman” Chuck Liddell (21-7) has started training jiu jitsu with Eddie Bravo of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu. After winning the title in 2005 and defending it four times, Liddell has dropped four of his past five bouts, including back-to-back losses to fourth-ranked “Sugar” Rashad Evans (13-1-1) in 2008 and third-ranked “Shogun” Mauricio Rua (18-4) in 2009. I believe that this will help to elevate Chuck’s game and will help to right the losing skid he is been on as of late.

UFC light heavyweight “Minotoro” Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (17-3) has emerged from a two-year hiatus from the top ten rankings, during which much of the new MMA fandom knew him only as the brother of Fighters.com’s fourth-ranked heavyweight “Minotauro” Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (32-5-1).

Today in an interview with Fight Magazine Frank Shamrock (22-9-1) stated “I don’t want to fight Jake Shields because he has no personality, he’s a boring fighter, and when he got on to CBS, and it was his chance to be a star, he leg humped ["Mayhem" Jason Miller] all night long, and killed our ratings. That’s why I don’t want to fight Jake Shields“.

After watching the main event between “The Natural” Randy Couture (17-10) and “Truth” Brandon Vera (11-4) at UFC 105 in Manchester Saturday, I realized that MMA judging is clearly arbitrary.
Randy won a unanimous decision with scores of 29-28, 30-27, and 30-27. This decision, along with the fight between Fighters.com and UFC Light Heavyweight Champion “Dragon” Lyoto Machida (16-0) and third-ranked “Shogun” Mauricio Rua (18-4) made me wonder just what the judges are looking for and scoring during a fight.
