The post UFC 109 talks have begun and it did not take long for many to say Fighters.com’s tenth-ranked heavyweight “Natural” Randy Couture (18-10) just elevated himself to the top five of the light-heavyweight division with his win over “The Hammer” Mark Coleman (16-10) Saturday night. The thought of him being in the top five is ridiculous when you look at the division and what he is done in the division since coming back down from heavyweight.

A light heavyweight brawl between “Truth” Brandon Vera (11-4) and “Bones” Jon Jones (9-1) is targeted for UFC’s debut on Versus March 21, according to Vera via Twitter.

After having to pull out of UFC 102 in Portland August 29 to have knee surgery to correct a nagging injury, The Ultimate Fighter 3’s “Hammer” Matt Hamill (6-2) is set to face off against the young rising star “Bones” Jon Jones (9-0) at SpikeTV’s The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale in Las Vegas December 5.

Bonnar Confirms Fight Versus Jones at UFC 94

“American Psycho” Stephan Bonnar (11-4) will fight “Bones” Jon Jones (6-0) in a light heavyweight match-up 31 January at UFC 94 in Las Vegas, he confirmed on Inside Fighting Radio Tuesday.

Bonnar described Jones as “pretty strong, explosive, and young,” but said, “I got more experience and I’ll take care of business.”

Bonnar will be returning to the Octagon for the first time since he TKO’d “Red” Eric Schafer (10-3-2) in the second round at UFC 77 in October 2007.

He has been recovering from surgery after suffering a serious knee injury during training in February.

Jones won his UFC debut in August with a unanimous decision over Andre Gusmao (5-1), a fight he took on short notice.

Fighters.com’s Welterweight Champion “Rush” Georges St. Pierre (17-2) defended his title in a five-round unanimous decision over top contender Jon Fitch (17-3) Saturday night in Minneapolis by scores of 50-44 twice and 50-43.

The win facilitates an apparent New Year’s Eve champion-versus-champion rematch between St. Pierre and Fighters.com’s Lightweight Champion B.J. Penn (13-4-1), who was invited into the Octagon after the main event to challenge St. Pierre, saying, “I want to put this fight together.”

In the co-main event, Brock Lesnar (2-1) dominated a three-round unanimous decision over Fighters.com’s eighth-ranked heavyweight “Texas Crazy Horse” Heath Herring (28-14) by scores of 30-26 three times.

“I fell off the horse,” Lesnar told the 15,082 spectator hometown crowd referring to his Octagon debut loss to former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir (11-3), “but, tonight I got on that stallion and rode it out of town, baby! Wooo!”

Fighters.com’s seventh-ranked lightweight “KenFlo” Kenny Florian (10-3) won a blow-out unanimous decision over “El Matador” Roger Huerta (20-2-1) by 30-27 on all three judges’ score cards in a UFC top contender bout.

Jones Replaces Drwal at UFC 87

The UFC announced Monday that newcomer Jon Jones (7-2) will face Andre Gusmao (5-0) in a light heavyweight match-up at UFC 87 in Minneapolis 9 August.

Jones replaces the previously-scheduled “Travolta” Tomasz Drwal (14-2) on the card.

Jones TKO’d Moyses Gabin (2-2) in the second round at the Battle Cage Xtreme event 12 July to win the USKBA East Coast title.
