Fighters.com’s third-ranked heavyweight and former UFC champion Frank Mir (13-4) has issued a formal apology at UFC.com for a remark he made last weekend on WXDX radio in Pittsburgh: “[I want Brock Lesnar to be] the first person that dies due to Octagon-related injuries.”

After UFC 110 in Sydney Saturday night, UFC President Dana White told the post-event press conference, “In my opinion, [Fighters.com's fourth-ranked heavyweight “Minotauro” Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (32-6-1)] is probably the best heavyweight of all time, and [Cain Velasquez (9-0)] absolutely demolished him tonight. He’s for real and he’s in the line right now.”
“I still can’t believe it,” said Fighters.com’s second-ranked heavyweight and UFC champion Brock Lesnar (4-1) Wednesday morning on ESPN’s Sportscenter. Lesnar announced that the ailment that has prevented him from defending his title has been cured and he’ll return to the Octagon in the summer of 2010.

Brazilian heavyweight “Cigano” Junior dos Santos (10-1) climbed to the fifth spot in Fighters.com’s December Heavyweight Rankings after knocking out “Hurricane” Gilbert Yvel (33-14-1) at UFC 108 in Las Vegas January second. He’s now just beneath his sensei, fourth-ranked “Minotauro” Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (32-5-1), and just out of the UFC’s big three champions, one of whom has held a portion of the UFC title for the last two years.
UFC President Dana White told MMA Junkie Wednesday that a doctor’s visit next week will determine Fighters.com’s second-ranked heavyweight and UFC champion Brock Lesnar’s (4-1) future.
Fighters.com’s third-ranked heavyweight Frank Mir (13-4) and sixth-ranked Shane Carwin (10-0) could match-up for an interim UFC title at UFC 111 in Newark March 27, according to an MMA Junkie report.
