It’s the fight that an entire season of “The Ultimate Fighter” was built upon, it’s the fight that caused a UFC legend to come out of retirement despite virtually everyone telling him to hang it up. As hard as this is to fathom, it appears that UFC legend and Hall of Fame member Chuck Liddell still hasn’t made up his mind on whether or not he’s retiring. Today’s article focuses on current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and more specifically, why I think he won’t break the long streak of UFC Light Heavyweight Champions losing their gold in their first few fights. Mauricio Rua has always been a very popular fighter dating back to his glory days in the PRIDE Fighting Championships, and his fans have never had more of a reason to cheer now that he stands atop one of the UFC’s fiercest divisions. Much has been made about how the UFC handled the situation of the removal of "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz from "The Ultimate Fighter 11" show and his replacement on the show as well as at UFC 115, "Ace" Rich Franklin (26-5). Tito has since made a brief statement regarding fans saying he lied and the change of headliner made a huge impact on ticket sales for UFC 115. ...
