UFC 126: Belfort ($275k) tops Silva ($200k) in pay
UFC 126: Belfort ($275k) tops Silva ($200k) in pay

Following ufc 126 this past weekend, a lot of new story lines have arose. Anderson Silva re-solidified himself as not only the best middleweight in the world, but arguably best pound-for-pound fighter and the greatest of all time, when he knocked out Vitor Belfort in impressive fashion in his middleweight title bout. Forrest Griffin deftly defeated former champ Rich Franklin in a pivotal light heavyweight match-up, moving him closer to the title, however Jon Jones beat him to it when he submitted then-undefeated prospect Ryan Bader with a second-round submission. However nothing surprised me more then some of these fighter pay-outs with some seeming valid, while others have me scratching my head in humble confusion. ...

UFC 126: Breaking down Torres vs. Banuelos
UFC 126: Breaking down Torres vs. Banuelos

In a WEC throwback for the ages, two of some of the best bantamweight fighters in the world will square off tonight as the first fight on the pay-per-view televised portion of "UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort". The event, which is headlined by a middleweight title clash pitting champ Anderson Silva against former teammate Vitor Belfort, is held before a sold-out crowd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, in what is sure to be a ruckus crowd in attendance. If there was any one fight that would be a good pick-me-up for those in attendance, Torres and Banuelos would be just that. ...

Former WEC champion Miguel Torres vs Antonio Banuelos added to UFC 126

Initially, ufc head honcho Dana White insisted during a media teleconference concerning the WEC/UFC merger that the first sign of former WEC's fighter's assimilating into the UFC would be the featherweight title fight pitting champion Jose Aldo against contender Josh Grispi at UFC 125 on January 1st. Since then, additional match ups have been added to some future UFC event's, including the return of Leonard Garcia when he meets fellow featherweight slugger Tyler Toner for "The Ultimate Fighter 12" finale show in December. Slowly but surely, former WEC competitors are becoming do dissent into the UFC ranks, and there's truly no better time to be a fan than right now. Former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres, who is quite possibly the most recognized Mexican-American-Mullet bearer in the sport, will return to action to meet former title challenger Antonio Banuelos at UFC 126, in February of next year. ...

What's Next for the Winners and Losers of WEC 51: "Aldo vs. Gamburyan"?

WEC 51 “Aldo vs. Gamburyan” was one for the history books, and now that it’s actually in the history books, I’m left looking towards the future once again. Like all of my previous installments in the “What’s Next” series, I’ll be giving my thoughts on what the future will hold for some of the big winners and losers of “Aldo vs. Gamburyan”. So let’s get right to it. ...

WEC 51 Results: Vanquished Zombies, Resurrected Angels, Dominant Wolves, and a King Reigns Supreme

It's now come and gone, and WEC 51 reads like some crazy, bizarre storybook now that it's all over. A Korean Zombie was defeated, an Angel was reborn, a Mongolian Wolf chewed up the competition, a historic rivalry had its next (and almost certainly not last) chapter written in the blood of a great fighter, and in the main event of the night, the WEC Featherweight Champion once again proved that he is without equal. Here are all the results as well as my thoughts on the unsurprisingly fantastic WEC 51: “Aldo vs. Gamburyan” event. ...

WEC 51: "Aldo vs. Gamburyan" Thoughts and Predictions

Today marks the fifty-first show held by the World Extreme Cagefighting promotion. The card is so stacked that it was once rumored to be the next WEC Pay-Per-View, and it features big-name stars like Jose Aldo, Manvel Gamburyan, Mike Thomas Brown, Leonard Garcia, Miguel Torres, Donald Cerrone, and Jamie Varner. I’ve tried to be as vocal of a supporter of the WEC as I can possibly be in my time with fighters.com, so I can’t wait to see this show. Here are my predictions on all the big matches scheduled for WEC 51: “Aldo vs. Gamburyan”. ...

No Weighty Issues--Everyone on point for WEC 51
No Weighty Issues--Everyone on point for WEC 51

As wec 51 looms our way tomorrow night, all competitors at the 1st Bank Arena in Broomsfield, Colorado made it to the scale, with no controversy. The main event of the evening, a featherweight match up against two of the best in the class, will feature Jose Aldo putting his belt on the line against season five finalist of "The Ultimate Fighter" Manny Gamburyan, and taking on co-headlining duties will be a grudge match for the ages when former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner steps back into the cage for the second time this year when he faces nemesis and crowd favorite Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, who is coming off of a loss to current champion Ben Henderson in an attempt to vie for the title. ...

WEC 51 Official--Reed Harris Confirms Final Match Ups
WEC 51 Official--Reed Harris Confirms Final Match Ups

While the WEC is recognized as being under the Zuffa umbrella that also is associated with the UFC, which is unarguably the worlds largest leading promotion in the world of mixed martial arts--the WEC does not remain as the red headed stepchild of the group. The "little" big promotion has made many strides in the last few years, improving their fundamentals and becoming a leading competitor to any organization that embodies the lighter weight classes. Currently, of the WEC's bantamweight and featherweight classes, most if not all of the top-10 competitors exist within the promotion. And while the WEC has consistently put together solid shows, time after time--WEC 51 will be no exception. In fact, it may be on their better cards to date. ...

Due to an injury "The Angel of Death" Damacio Page (10-5) has been forced to withdraw from his fight with Antonio Banuelos (17-5) at the WEC 48 pay-per-view next month. Stepping in to replace him will be none other than "Young Guns" Scott Jorgenson (8-2). ...

"Bad Ass" Whoopin' in Lemoore

"New York Bad Ass" Phil Baroni (13-10) extended his "W" streak to three with a one-sided UD over Mexican welterweight Olaf Alfonso (7-9) Friday night in Lemoore, southeast of San Francisco. Baroni got cut early, but tagged Alfonso with punches and floored him with takedowns the majority of the fight. Bryan Travers (11-1) picked up the Palace Fighting Championship welterweight title with a close UD over Jeremiah Metcalf (9-6) by scores of 48-47 on all three judges' score cards. Shawn Klarcyk (9-2) defended his PFC Bantamweight Championship from Brandon Miller (3-3) by armbar at 2:19 of round two. PFC Lightweight Champion Brian Cobb (13-4) also fought off David Gardner's (14-10) advances on his gold in a UD by scores of 50-45 from all three judges. ...
