Nate Diaz’s duel with Donald Cerrone named UFC 141 “Fight of the Night”

Lightweights Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone promised a battle when the two of them faced off at UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem and the talented twosome delivered by throwing blows for fifteen minutes without a single hiccup in the action. Diaz ultimately came out ahead of the judges’ scorecards by following in his brother’s footsteps, using an unorthodox but highly effective style coupled with precise boxing blows to pick Cerrone apart throughout the three rounds.

Their bout was named Fight of the Night. Each was awarded $75,000 for the distinction.

Knockout of the Night went to Johny Hendricks who picked up the biggest win of his young career by knocking out Jon Fitch, a top contender who had never been finished inside the Octagon prior to the strike-based stoppage. Hendricks, also earning a $75,000 bonus, improved his overall record to 12-1 with the only blemish involving a hotly-contested clash with Rick Story resulting in a decision loss.

No Submission of the Night was named as the card did not feature a single submission victory.
