The UFC returns to action on December 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada for their annual New Year’s Eve Weekend card with UFC 155, and everyone in the world will know who “the baddest man on the planet” is before the night is over. The heavyweight title will be on the line when Junior dos Santos defends his belt against the man he took it from, Cain Velasquez. Velasquez is looking for redemption after he was knocked out in 60 seconds in front of one of the largest TV audiences in MMA history. Both men are saying they had serious knee injuries in the first scrap, and both men are looking to solidify their positions at the top of the most dangerous heavyweight division on the planet, making for what should be an explosive affair come showtime.
In the co-headliner, Jim Miller has stepped in on short notice to take on Joe Lauzon. Each have a history of stunning their foes with well-placed punches and finishing them with submissions. Also, considering the number of bonuses each has won in his career, this is a bout fans do NOT want to miss.

Round 1
Garcia takes the center of the cage as they feel each other out. Garcia opens up with some leg kicks and Holloway returns fire. Garcia staying calm so far but Holloway is quickly getting comfortable. Holloway drops Garcia with a right, and after swarming in on him and landing a few shots he gives him some space. Holloway back to work on the legs. Garcia coming forward though. Garcia now loading up his punches, and Holloway is seeing them coming. Garcia lands a nice straight right that wobbles Holloway a little bit, but he is staying calm. Garcia is head hunting, and already looks to be breathing deep. A spinning back kick is also paying dividends for Holloway.

Holloway goes back to the spinning back kick to the body right off the bat. Holloway now pressing the action, and lands a nice one two that backs up Garcia. When Garcia is landng one, it seems as though Holloway is landing one or two. Garcia gets a takedown but Holloway gets right back up and they split up. Holloway is now wearing on Garcia who is throwing horrible looking punches. Garcia lands a nice left he throws from his pocket, but Holloway isn’t having it.

Holloway is coming forward early and Garcia is throwing punches and groaing with each one of them. Holloway is standing in the pocket and exchanging with Garcia and getting the better of them. There doesn’t seem to be much on the punches from Garcia. Garcia and Holloway exchange toe to toe, and Garcia gets a takedown. Garcia can’t do much with it, Holloway back to his feet. Both fighters are standing in the pocket and trading, but it seems like Holloway is the one landing the better punches.

John Moraga vs. Chris Cariaso
Round 1
Both fighters feeling each other out and Cariaso opens up with a leg kick. Moraga is looking to counter strike, but right now its Cariaso landing. Moraga catches a kick, and lands a straight right that stunned Cariaso. Moraga the one coming forward now. Moraga gets the takedown but lets up Cariaso almost right away. Cariaso is head hunting with a high kick he is trying to set up with his low kicks. Cariaso also going to the body with the kicks. A minute left, and it seems as though Cariaso is winning as he landing strikes more often. Cariaso closes the round with a low kick and a hook up stairs.
Round 2
No waiting around this round as both come forward and start throwing. Cariaso is the one landing combinations while Moraga is just occasionally landing a decent counter. Moraga clinches with Cariaso on the fence, and Moraga is hunting for the takedown. Moraga lands a nice combination on the exit, and Cariaso returns fire with some more kicks. Cariaso is really hunting for the head kick he has been setting up. Moraga throws Cariaso to the ground, but can’t set up with Cariaso on the floor so he lets him up. Cariaso takes Moraga down and the round ends with Moraga throwing elbows from his back

Moraga is the one coming forward, and he is obviously under the impression he needs a finish. Moraga grabs a hold of a front head lock, and cinched up a front choke that forced Cariaso to tap. They will probably call it a standing guillotine.

Todd Duffee vs. Philip De Fries
Round 1
Duffe comes out lands a leg kick and a right hand that stuns De Fries. They clinch on the fence and De Fries gets the takedown. On the way to his feet Duffe eats some shots, but De Fries is staying tight to Duffe on the fence. Duffe now has De Fries on the fence looking for a punch on the exit. Duffe lands an uppercut that backs up De Fries. Duffe lands 4 right hands that sends De Fries to the cage floor.

Michael Johnson vs. Myles Jury
Round 1
The feeling out begins, and Johnson is landing low kicks early. Jury is throwing kicks of his own, but it looks like he is waiting for Johnson to calm down some. Jury is looking to stick and move, and fakes a right hand and gets a takedown on Johnson. Jury gets mount for a second and is now working from half guard. Jury gets to the mount and lands about 15 unanswered punches on Johnson. Johnson blocked a few of them, but some got through. Jury now landing elbows from half guard. Jury gets to side mount and moves to full guard and lands some GnP, and gets the back as the round ends.

Jury opening up with low kicks early and Johnson ia pressing forward. Both fighters being cautious. Jury lands a solid head kick that does no damage at all it seems, and Johnson was looking to counter. Jury catches a low kick from Johnson and gets the takedown. Johnson goes to work from his back, but he can’t tie up Jury. Jury softening him up with punches and elbows from full guard, and Johnson is not rolling to get up or submit at all. Jury finishes the round on top landing punches.

Johnson is coming forward and throwing with intent, and Jury gets the clinch and the inside trip. Jury moves right into half guard and works to side mount. Back to half guard Jury starts to land shots from the top. Jury is landing some big elbows, and is basically a full mount position. Jury is just smothering Johnson. Johnson scrambles to his feet and jumps guard with a guillotine but the bell rings right away.

Melvin Guillard vs. Jamie Varner
Round 1
Varner coming forward early, and Guillard opens with a low kick. Guillard has his head almost straight up which is alarming, as he lands leg kicks. Varner not really pulling the trigger so far, but Guillard is only really landing leg kicks himself. Guillard goes back to the leg kicks and Varner needs to start checking those. Varner lands a nice combination, and closes the gap on Guillard. Varner lands an overhand right that drops Guillard in the closing seconds, Varner swarms and goes for a choke as the round ends.

Varner forward early but Guillard lands a leg kick. Varner gets a takedown and works from top, but Guillard scrambles up and lands a knee. Guillard lands a solid head kick but Varner walks right through it. Guillard looking to be the fresher fighter, and Varner lands a nice combination. Varner gets the takedown. Guillard gets to his feet and goes to work on the legs again. Varner lands a solid right hand but this one doesn’t seem to do much to Guillard. Guillard takes one to the pills. Fight on, Varner throws a combination and it backs up Guillard.

Guillard comes forward right away and Varner slows him down with some grappling. Varner gets the takedown and is on top pounding on Guillard. Varner rolls for a sub but Guillard ends up on top. Varner scrambles up and takes Guillard down and goes to work from top. Guillard scrambles up and Varner gets him right back down. Guillard throws up an arm bar he almost gets it, but Varner escapes and hits a nice switch to end up on top again. Guillard gets up and has 30 seconds to work. They clinch and exchange shots as the round ends.

Erik Perez vs. Byron Bloodworth
Round 1
Perez comes out swinging and Bloodworth answers back with strikes of his own as he lands some knees to the body in the clinch. Bloodworth eats a nasty knee to the body and it drops Bloodworth and he goes to work on the top with strikes. Perez starts landing elbows. So far Bloodworth has no answer for the ground and pound from Perez. Perez postures up and lands a mean elbow and then lands a few right hands that had Bloodworth balling up.

Brad Pickett vs. Eddie Wineland
Round 1
Wineland takes the center and Pickett is already looking to counter. Wineland lands a nice right hand, and he is quickly getting the timing of Pickett. Wineland is fighting with his head straight up in the air though, and that might be a bad idea against Pickett. Pickett eats a huge uppercut and then a right hand that drops him, but he bounces right back up from his knees. Pickett seems to be back together, but Wineland is gaining confidence. Wineland is landiing shots, mainly hooks, that is dropping Pickett to his knees, but he is popping right back up. Pickett dives in for the takedown but doesn’t get it. Wineland still walking him down, but Pickett is not backing up much. Pickett ends the round coming forward and landing a nice combination.

Wineland clearly the fresher fighter, and Pickett begins throwing jabs to get in on the inside of Wineland. Pickett eats a stiff jab from Wineland but lands a nice one two that backs him up. Both fighters seems to be hanging out on the outside and trying to work, but neither is really landing much. Wineland seems to be able to change up the striking at will and that is a key where the fight is all stand up. Pickett seems to have just the punchers chance. Both go almost toe to toe, but Wineland seems to get the better of that onr.

Pickett turning up the pace, he knows he needs a finish here. Wineland seems to be having his way with his uppercut, and he is circling away from the power of Pickett. Wineland is landing increcibly straight strikes ne after the other keeping Pickett on the outside, and is clearly the fresher guy in the third round as he looks light on his feet. Pickett is backing down Wineland, but Wineland is doing a great job at sticking and moving. Pickett throwing bombs as the clock ticks down, but Wineland is just too quick for him.

Chris Leben vs. Derek Brunson
Round 1
Leben takes the center and is coming forward, and Brunson gets underhooks and gets the takedown. Brunson begins to work from full guard. Leben trying to escape and is throwing up submissions, but Brunson has been staying tight to him. Brunson ends up in full mount after a scramble and Leben eats some elbows. Brunson working from half guard, and Leben eats some shots before retaining full guard. Leben scrambles to his feet, and they separate as the bell rings.

Brunson opens up the round with leg kicks, and dives in for a takedown that Leben stuffs. It took Brunson about 20 seconds to set up another one and get. Leben gets to his feet, and it looks like Brunson is gassed. Leben coming forward, but so far he isn’t doing much with it. Leben is coming forward but both guys look awful, and throwing awkward punches. Very odd looking round.

Even the commentators comment on how slow both guys look. Leben lands two left hands and Brunson ducks under the third and takes down Leben. Leben gets up and they exchange as the bell rings.

Belcher showing his jab early, but Okami is staying in his face. Belcher looks quicker on the feet so far and Okami is definitely trying to work his way inside. Belcher throws a kick and Okami lands a jab and Belcher goes down, but it looked like a slip. He pops right back up, but Okami clinches him on the fence. Fight goes to the floor in a scramble and Okami lands on top with 2 minutes to work. Okami moves to side control and is just smothering Belcher. Belcher

Round 1
Boetsch is walking down Philippou early, and he goes in for the takedown. So far Philippou defends it, but he ends up going down. He scoots right back up to the feet, but Boetsch is pressuring Philippou up against the fence. Philippou separates and they are back to feeling each other out. Boetsch is using his kicks to keep Philippou on the outside. Boetsch closes the distance and eats a big uppercut, that makes them separate. Boetsch dives in and gets the takedown. Ref stands them up, and Philippou comes up swinging and lands a solid combination on Boetsch. As the round end, Boetsch lands a nice front kick that seemed to stumble him.

Boetsch dives for a takedown but doesn’t get it. Boetsch basically pulls guard and now Philippou is working from the top. Boetsch is bloodied up and eats some elbows before the round ends.

Round 1
Miller comes out looking to land early hooks. Miller looks to be much quicker getting in and out of the pocket. Miller lands some big shots and Lauzon gets off the cage out of trouble. Miller is also working the leg kicks very well, and they have tripped Lauzon twice now. Miller swarms on Lauzon and lands repeated elbows and Lauzon is a bloody mess. they stop the fight and let them go. Miller is looking to end this fight in this round, and Lauzon is hanging in there. Lauzon lands a big knee. Miller seems to be picking apart Lauzon and the blood continues to pour out of his head. Miller is covered in blood but its all J-Lau’s. They trade and the round ends.

Miller trying to stay busy on top. After a scramble Lauzon ends up on top and as the round ends he dives for a leg lock.

JDS is looking to stick and move and Cain begins to land. He keeps diving for takedowns but just can’t get a hold of JDS. Cain clinches along the fence, and is looking to wear out JDS. Velasquez lands a big right hand that drops JDS and Velasquez swarms in and begins to land shots from back mount. Velasquez scrambles to back mount and the round ends. Dominant showing for Cain

Velasquez gets some space, and lands a few good punches. Velasquez really leaning on JDS in the clinch. JDS lands a big elbow on the exit and he is now pressing on Velasquez. The round ends in the clinch.
Round 5
Velasquez clinching on the fence, and JDS lands a nice upper cut to the body of Velasquez. Dos Santos is now defending all the takedowns and firing back. Velasquez is now the one being pushed around, but JDS finally gets taken down. Velasquez begins to work from half guard and JDS gets too his feet again. No quit in either of these guys. Velasquez working the clinching on the fence and they break and Velasquez lands a head kick that JDS shrugs off.
