Former UFC heavyweight challenger “Snowman” Jeff Monson (28-2) has signed a multi-fight contract with Shine Fights, according to MMA Junkie.
Monson recently lost a unanimous decision to “Rock” Pedro Rizzo (17-9) at Bitetti Combat 4 in Rio de Janeiro September 12. After the loss, Monson told Fighters.com that he was cutting to 205 pounds.
MMA Junkie’s report didn’t indicate the weight class Monson will compete in for Shine Fights.
Monson lost a five-round UD to then UFC heavyweight champion “Maine-iac” Tim Sylvia (25-6) at UFC 65 in Sacramento in November 2006 and notched a UD over most recent The Ultimate Fighter champion “Big Country” Roy Nelson’s (14-4) at Square Ring Promotions in Pensacola March 21.
