“Super Six” Champion Andre Ward Won with Broken Hand

Undefeated super middleweight Andre Ward looked particularly impressive against British brawler Carl Froch when the two locked horns last weekend with the “Super Six” crown on the line. However, making the Olympian’s offering even more impressive was the fact he outpointed his opponent with a banged up hand he ultimately broke midway through his fight with Froch.

Ward came out to reveal the status of his moneymaking mitt earlier today, Tweeting a picture of the X-Ray while assuring fans he expected to be back by early summer.

Kelly Pavlik Pleads Not Guilty to DWI Charges

Former champ Kelly Pavlik may know how to dodge punches better than most but he apparently wasn’t so fortunate in avoiding a few stationary objects outside of Youngstown, Ohio earlier this week. Pavlik was arrested on Wednesday after a neighbor called police stating the middleweight had crashed an ATV into a telephone pole/lamp post.

Pavlik was set to make a plea today but had his lawyer enter it instead, saying he was “not guilty” of the DWI charge. A pre-trial hearing is set to take place in three weeks.

The 37-2 Pavlik has had previous issues with alcohol before, completing a two-month stint at the Betty Ford Clinic earlier this year.

Arturo Gatti’s Estate Pays Widow $3.4 Million

The sad story of boxing great Arturo Gatti recently continued in a court room when his widow and family faced off over $3.4 million from a disputed will the deceased former champion allegedly signed in 2009 shortly before his mysterious death in Brazil.

Gatti’s widow, Amanda Rodrigues, was arrested for his murder after his blood was found on her purse strap but was cleared after further investigation deemed it a suicide. To this day the exact circumstances surrounding his demise remain unclear.

What is clear, however, was the judge’s ruling in relation to the money. Though Gatti’s family claimed the 2009 will should have been thrown out based on the circumstances and the millions awarded to them. The justice did not see it that way, stating Rodrigues’ document is authentic and ruled in her favor.
