Patrick Cote was set to rematch Alessio Sakara after his disqualification win over the Italian, but Sakara was forced to pull out of the fight upon instructions from his doctor. Cote was obviously excited about fighting in his home country, told the UFC he wanted to fight at UFC 158, and that he also wanted to do it at welterweight. Today the UFC has announced he will make his debut at 170 pounds against Bobby Voelker.
Canadian standout Patrick Cote will play host in his homeland and fight Bobby Voelker at UFC 158 in Montreal, UFC officials told us on Friday. The contest will be Cote’s welterweight debut after spending much of his career at middleweight, as well as Voelker’s UFC debut following a recent stint in Strikeforce.
