Derek Brunson Steps in for Karlos Vemola at UFC 155 to Take on Chris Leben

With Strikeforce in limbo, and sitting on back-to-back losses, middleweight Derek Brunson tried out for TUF 17. He made it all the way to weigh-ins to fight to get into the house when the UFC informed him that he couldn’t be part of the show. Now, Brunson finds himself with a UFC fight on the horizon.

Earlier today it was announced that Karlos Vermola was injured in training and forced off the lineup for UFC 155 , and Brunson is Octagon-bound to fill the vacancy in a clash against Chris Leben.

MMAJunkie reported:

Four-time Strikeforce veteran Derek Brunson is making his way to the UFC. Brunson has verbally agreed to replace an injured Karlos Vemola  and now meets Chris Leben on the pay-per-view-opening first bout of next week’s UFC 155 event.
