UFC heavyweight Pat Barry may not have the most spectacular overall record but it’s important to keep in mind the 8-5 slugger came into MMA as a pure kickboxer and is still playing “catch up” where grappling is concerned. However, after showing improved ground-skills in a win over Shane Del Rosario the past weekend at the Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale, it appears Barry may finally be over that hump and able to compete against opponents with superior skills on the mat.
Barry recently discussed his victory over Del Rosario, letting fans know he plans to be a factor in the division for years to come and won’t be slowing down his pace even if it means the occasional loss.

Barry is a great striker but still so raw I don’t know what to think about his future prospects. I wish he’d cut down to 205.
I’m man enough to admit I got a little misty eyed during Barry’s speech. Go HD!
