Fans couldn’t have asked for a much better card than what was witnessed last night at the Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale. The lineup was strong and the competitors delivered, turning in a number of entertaining performances and jaw-dropping finishes.
One man whose showing lived up to both descriptions was headliner Roy Nelson. “Big Country” absorbed some stiff shots from opponent Matt Mitrione, then starched him with a series of strikes rendering Mitrione unconscious for the first time in his career. The win was Nelson’s fifth in the Octagon, making him 5-for-5 where strike-based stoppages are concerned too.

Safe to say he got Mitri-OWNED?
It’s pretty funny how Mitrione was talking about how he’d never been wobbled before in a fight or in training. So much for that!
