It’s strange talking about a fight that didn’t happen after a solid showing by the fighters at the Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale this Saturday night. According to Keith Kizer, the Executive Director at the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Jamie Varner had been sick all day and the doctor on hand determined he wasn’t well enough to compete against Melvin Guillard on the evening’s main card. Shortly afterward, UFC President Dana White revealed the two sluggers will fight at UFC 155.
However, before Guillard heard about the new date he gave this interview to Fuel TV where he made it clear he now has a personal vendetta to settle against the former WEC champion…
Varner has been quiet since the cancellation of the fight, but the claims by Guillard that Varner is ducking him seem unlikely as Varner tweeted, “I wanted to fight. This sucks, I had a great training camp. Thanks to everyone out there for the overwhelming support. MMA has the best fans.”
The two will now meet at UFC 155 in Las Vegas, Nevada for the annual New Years event set to go down on December 29th.
