After his knockout win over Martin Kampmann, Johny Hendricks was furious when Georges St-Pierre called out Nick Diaz and was prepared to wait most of 2013 for a shot at the welterweight title. The UFC had a different set of plans, as they announced last night that Hendricks will climb into the cage with Jake Ellenberger at UFC 158 in Montreal. Hendricks is taking it all in stride and is saying that after this win GSP will have nowhere to hide.
He told MMAFighting why he wasn’t waiting:
“They made me I guess lol. (I) just have to win and GSP has nowhere to hide from me. Man, he’s scared. That’s why he wants me to keep fighting because maybe I’ll lose and then he won’t have to retire (before fighting me).”

I can see Hendricks scoring another highlight reel KO. Ellenberger’s chin isn’t great.
Interesting match-up between Ellenberger and Hendricks. Both good wrestlers with heavy hands.
Smart move by Hendricks and the UFC. Not only keeps him relevant and #1 if the two of them fight but he’s also insurance in case Diaz/GSP get hurt or whatever.
