Ross Pearson Uses His Striking In Decisive Win Over George Sotiropoulos

UFC on FX 6: Sotiropoulos Vs Pearson is officially in the books, and the main event fight that was months in the making is over. Ross Pearson returned to the UFC lightweight division in Australia with a win over George Sotiropoulos by technical knockout in the third round. There was no love lost, or found, in this 3 round scrap, but it was the striking of Pearson that told the story.

Sotiropoulos’ clear advantage going into the fight was his grappling, but unfortunately he had very little time to showcase it. Pearson did a great job stuffing the takedowns of Sotiropoulos, and using his hands to keep Sotiropoulos on the outside. His only real chance to submit Pearson came at the end of the first round when he was able to slip to his back and threaten with a rear naked choke in the closing seconds.

Pearson was able to drop Sotiropoulos in all three rounds, and he spent most of the time walking him down with no regard for his power. The strike totals tell the whole story as Pearson outstruck the Australian 53 to 35 across the two plus rounds. Pearson walks away the victor in the battle of the coaches for TUF: The Smashes.
