Wanderlei Silva set for March meeting with Brian Stann in Japan

The UFC is returning to Japan, and they are coming out swinging! UFC on Fuel 8 is officially booked for March 3 at Saitama Super Arena. The organization announced a majority of the card in one big swoop including a main event featuring light heavyweights Wanderlei Silva and Brian Stann.

Yes, you read that right, both will be fighting at 205 in a five round affair.

In the co-headliner, Stefan Struve will square off against Mark Hunt in a heavyweight row, and if that wasn’t enough  leather flying, Takanori Gomi will be on hand to welcome Diego Sanchez back to the lightweight division. Also expected on the main card is a welterweight tussle between Dong Hyun Kim and Siyar Bahadurzada.

The UFC is clearly excited about  their return trip to Japan according to UFC Managing Director Mark Fischer. Fischer said, “We’re delighted to bring a world-class card with a distinctly local flavor back to Japan. This exciting mix of former PRIDE champions, contenders from various weight divisions, and up-and-coming stars from the region is sure to entertain all our fans here – whether old or new to the sport.”
