Bellator 83 Nets Second Lowest Viewers in Promotion’s History

Bellator 83 was one of those events that the promotion would like to pretend never happened. The fights that took place were solid, but with all the juggling in the prior weeks and the last minute cancellation of the main event fight between Shahbulat Shamhalaev and Rad Martinez, it’s not surprising the ratings numbers came close to hitting the promotion’s floor.

Specifically, Bellator 83 brought in 105,000 viewers, which is only 2,000 more than Bellator 53 average of 103,000 (Bellator’s lowest rated event.)
MMAJunkie reported:

Last weekend’s Bellator 83 event was the second-lowest-rated show in Bellator-MTV2 history. However, more than half the audience ditched the broadcast following a late cancellation of the night’s main event. Overall, the Dec. 7 broadcast averaged 105,000 viewers, which topped only Bellator 53 in 2011, which drew just 103,000 viewers.
