Bellator Season 8 Kicks Off January 17 with Two Title-Fights (VIDEO)

Bellator has finally made it official, announcing that they are now moving to Thursday nights on Spike TV and will kick off Season 8 on January 17. The event will feature two title fights and the Bellator debut of Renato Sobral.

Set to go down at The University of California’s Bren Center in Irvine, California, Pat Curran will defend his featherweight title against Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire, while Michael Chandler will put his lightweight strap on the line against Rick Hawn. Also on the main card, “Babalu” will fight Russian submission ace Mikhail Zayats in a quarterfinal of next season’s light heavyweight tournament.

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney told the media, “Our Thursday, January 17th premiere on Spike will be an incredible night for MMA fans; two epic world title fights and an amazing collection of tournament fights. Spike TV is the home for MMA and this event will be a great way to kick off that homecoming.”
