Fighters.com’s eighth-ranked welterweight and TUF 1 winner “Nightmare” Diego Sanchez (19-2) recently announced via MySpace that he would be moving down to the lightweight division, and UFC President Dana White confirmed the move Tuesday.
“Diego moved down to 155 pounds. Diego’s a 155-pounder,” White said.
It will not be the first time Sanchez has dropped a weight class. He moved to welterweight after winning The Ultimate Fighter at middleweight.
Sanchez last fought at the TUF 7 Finale in June, defeating Luigi Fioravanti (13-4) via third-round TKO.

I think its a good idea, diego should steamroll that division.
Diego should have no problem taking the light weight title.
It is a good idea, he can’t beat an improved Koscheck, Alves, or GSP at welterweight. There is still no way he will take the title at lightweight, unless Penn moves up to welterweight. Don’t sleep on BJ, he’s called “The Prodigy” for a reason, the dude’s a freak athlete! I don’t see him moving up, though, unless he beats GSP in their upcoming fight. How good is that rematch going to be?!
Kenny Florian will be a task as well, never liked him, but i can’t deny the guy is making things happen. Who predicted him over Huerta? I sure didn’t, he just keeps paving his own path. It’d be interesting to see how he handles the strength and power of Diego.
Kenny Florian is gonna beat BJ you watch!!
