Some MMA fans weren’t happy that UFC President Dana White couldn’t put the superfight together between Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre, but they quickly changed their tune when they found out GSP was instead asking for a crack at Nick Diaz. Of course, one person who didn’t like the sound of GSP fighting Diaz was Johny Hendricks. The welterweight has won his last five fights including a finish of Jon Fitch with a sub-minute knockout.
Hendricks is now saying Diaz already had his chance to fight GSP and blew it so it’s his turn to land the opportunity.
Hendricks told Sherdog:
“He’s had two shots to get GSP. All I’m asking is for one. That’s all that I’m asking for, and the thing is, the more that St. Pierre’s camp is talking about these other people and not wanting to fight me, it’s just giving me more and more confidence.”
Hendricks said on getting the title fight:
“You can only hope for it, and there’s only so much that I can do to get a title shot. I don’t want to be one of those people that has to be a jerk or whatever to somebody to get it. If they bypass me, guess what? I can wait..If I have more time to wait, then guess what? I’m going to try to get that much better.”
