Rory MacDonald Respects B.J. Penn but Ready to Beat Him Down

One of the most intense staredowns in recent memory occurred yesterday at the weigh-ins for UFC on FOX 5 when welterweights Rory MacDonald and B.J. Penn came face to face after hitting the scale and making the match-up official. Though MacDonald appreciates what Penn has done in his career, as well as the qualities he possesses as a fighter, in his mind “The Prodigy” is ultimately just one more opponent he needs to beat en route to accomplishing his ultimate goal of being the sport’s best.

When they lock horns this evening on FOX, fans can expect the 23-year old to give it all he’s got and, in the opinion of MacDonald, it should be enough to send Penn back to Hawaii with some serious questions about his future in MMA.

“My mindset – it’s just focused on hurting him, destroying him, and getting the job done. I respect him. There’s a lot of things that I admire about him. But I don’t think about them. I have a very cold mindset. I’m gonna go in there and take what’s mine.”

“I think I’m gonna annihilate him in every field.”

I’d say MacDonald is the favorite for sure but Penn shouldn’t be doubted.

He might be a bit over confident but Rory is gonna smash Penn tonight. Write it down.
