This is a huge disappointment. With both their fighting styles that can now be seen as throwbacks compared to the fighting styles of today’s top fighters, what can they possibly teach a batch of up-and-coming fighters that will be effective in today’s fight game?
On top of that, they will fight a third time. Who asked for this? Instead of reverting back to these two relics of the MMA world in an effort to get ratings and sell tickets, the UFC should instead utilize more the current top talent that they have.
Maybe for the TUF 12 season, they could have Dan Severn and Ken Shamrock as coaches, and afterwards have a Severn/Shamrock 3 fight. Thats no more ridiculous as this Liddell/Ortiz crap.
So who would you have liked to have seen as the coaches?
Chuck may have lost 3 of his last 4 fights but who was it that he lost to? Rampage, Rashad and Shogun….. 3 of arguably the best LHWs in the world today! So to say that Chuck is “washed up” or “way past his prime” may not be entirely true. He may not be as quick as he was back in 04 but he can still stand in that division and remains relevant and a dangerous fight for anyone! He’ll prove that by doing something that Forrest Griffin fell short of doing and knocking Tito out once again! I honestly can’t wait to see how NASTY Chuck looks after being rested and fired up again! He clearly went into that Shogun fight way too soon! I said it then and it’s still clear as day that he needed more time to get himself healthy after that big shot he took from Rashad.
Anyone who’s ever been KO’d like that will tell you that you’re not quite the same for at least 6-8 months. Shogun basically KO’d him with a lunging JAB that barely connected! It’s been almost a year off and he’s had more than enough time to get his head back into things. I guarantee you’re going to see a much different Chuck then we did in the last few fights! Tito won’t get out of the 2nd round this time!
