Welterweight contender Tyron Woodley faces Tarec Saffiedine in Strikeforce in January

After posting his most impressive career win to date on the main stage of a Strikeforce show last October, Tyron Woodley will be making a quick return to the cage.
In his last outing, Woodley defeated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion Andre Galvao via knockout. The win took Tyron less than two-minutes to get the job done, due largely to his trainings with American Top Team, which have since honed the collegiate wrestler into a mixed martial artist.
Now, Tyron will return to the Strikeforce Challenger Series once again, serving as the main-event of the evening when he takes on the ultra-impressive Tarec Saffiedine, whom is also undefeated under the Strikeforce banner.
Saffiedine was last seen in action when he dominated powerhouse wrestler and UFC veteran Brock Larson, controlling the former WEC title contender on the ground en route to a unanimous decision victory.
Tarec’s last loss came against Judo specialist Don Sik Yoon, via a close split-decision defeat. The DREAM veteran is 9-1 in his last 1- performances and is currently riding a three-fight win streak heading into his match up with Woodley.
In his last performance under the Strikeforce banner in May of this year, “Sponge” knocked out up-and-comer Nate Moore in the second round of their 170-pound clash.
While Tarec is more than adept on the ground, Woodley’s collegiate wrestling pedigree and athleticism often times give him the decisive edge over his opponents in the cage.
